Both sides are capping orientated! That's the point!
So you would disagree that soviets have a potentiall capping advantage early game? |
Err... and the Soviets aren't building a diverse army? There is an appalling lack of cogent arguments as to why Germans have MG bunkers and Soviets have no equivalent.
Some soviets are, point is, the soviets are by design more capping oriented so removing bunkers would be a bad idea in my oppinion. I have posted in a lot of different threads that I think the soviets needs more defensive capabilities, so I agree that they should get some. |
I think the germans needs bunkers because if your building a diverse army you will need something to keep the enemy from outcapping you, and force him to commit to fighting. |
I think the problem lies in the design of the soviet faction. They lack some basic units like effective defensive MGs and bunkers, forcing them down a more "spammish" road if they want to maintain any kind of map controll. The germans, on the other hand, are more of a complete faction with effective defensive units.
I love the recent changes, and I rather see the Soviets being buffed defensively and able to utilize combined arms more, than a return to the gameplay that encouraged running straight at your oponent, no matter the cover. |
Regarding Cons vs Grens: Isnt it so that wichever unit is starting out in green cower will win the engagement, given an enemy that will have to cross no or red cower, or have I just been lucky? |
I agree with you, but the problem is the german player will try to cap points on the other side of the map with a pioneer squad. But to fight these pioneers, you also have to put in much effort. So I think that you just can't play out your advantage there, because you need at least 2 units (speaking about early game) to fight the pioneers there.
Good point, and ceirtanily something they need to have a closer look at. Hopefully something they will fix shortly. |
+1
People (especially those who favor the germans) just seem to forget that a MG is protected almost every time with additional units
Then again, if your enemy is bunkered down somewhere with an MG, and a gren squad cowering it, he probably will have a verry thin presence everywhere else. Not saying its perfect, but the germans inability to use MGs, and have a great field presence, really is a huge weakness that I think most good players will use to its fullest. That your consquad cant win an engagement against an outflanked MG, and a grensquad seems reasonable to me. I think grenspam is more of a problem that might need to some atention. |
The data is quite easy to get, though. If you ping Relic's battle server, you get this:
TCP connect statistics for 54.209.64.161:27020:
Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Minimum = 137.16ms, Maximum = 139.02ms, Average = 137.81ms
In my opinion 140 ms is too much. And it's easily noticeable if you compare offline play with online. There is a constant delay on every unit response.
I just feel like it's too bad when Relic finally introduced battle servers they didn't go all the way...
With the new factions they are basically marketing it as a multiplayer game, so they should definitely do something about this. Europeans pay the same if not more for the game, we should get the same experience...
Does that mean that a US player will have an edge when playing against a european player or does the servers somehow iron the difference out? I mean, does the input lag scale with your ping to the server, so the US player will have more time to react? |
I have done my fair share of bitching about COH2, and I think the game in many ways is a study in bad design. That aside, Im verry happy that Relic actually seems to have listened to the community and made a lot of changes, and hopefully will continue doing so. Sure, the balance will be off every now and then, but I rather have them screwing up the balance from time to time and fixing the fundamental design flaws, than the game being perfectly balanced though uninteresting gameplay wise.
I think Relic deserves some credit for realising theire mistakes, and fixing the game, rather than all this negativity following the last patch. For the first time since the release of the game im actually optimistic for the future of COH2. I wish more people would share my optimism. |
While I have no data to back it up, I too have the feeling that battleservers removed the worst laggs and hickups, but also removed any chance of those really smooth games I would have if I played someone really close. Right now I have som lagg, no matter who I play, but never as bad as I would sometimes have before the battleservers. |
