I played 2 games as Soviet last night and I've gotta say, I was extremely satisfied. The changes to the T34 were excellent. I was actually able to go T1>T3 and combat German T3. Although a T34 can't beat a P4 head to head, that is absolutely fine.
I ended up just stacking 3 t34s and rushing any armor. They dropped the fuel to 85 =0. Didn't even consider using ram once. |
Heh, that's a relief cuz I always imagine that you look like your Dom in your signature. He's very clean shaven. |
Excellent! Also, I'd like to applaud you guys for taking the time as developers to discuss balance changes with the community today. That's a rare quality and another reason I am glad that I play this game. |
Awesome, looking forward to some fine tuned adjustments. |
Nice game guys! I don't think I've ever seen Kholodny so devastated. |
Hm, I always underestimate penals, because they cost 360mp. I normally dedicate that to a guards squad, mortar, or sniper. I always try to use munis for mines and flamer instead of satchels. But, I've noticed that the timer seems wayyy lower than the airbourne satchel. Might have to try that.
Cool Stephen, I'd appreciate that. |
I'm tired of the run of the mill T2-T3 or T1-T4 strats. I want to know if anyone has gotten this to work at high level play. T1-T2. Basically a sniper start following with 3 conscripts. This usually makes your opponent go T2 for Ostheer scout car. This buys you a little time to stall the p4.
Build T2 for AT gun to take on flame HT and future P4, choose guards motor doctrine. May or may not need AT nades early. Save gas and build up CPs for two T34/85s. In theory, it has a lot of advantages, I just keep finding myself getting stomped trying to use it.
Notice: P4/Ostwind has always arrived before t34-85s, so there is the major disadvantage.
If you've done this, please post replay. |
Just as pqumsieh stated. A received accuracy modifier would be appropriate here. But, can that be directional? As in, a HMG making a soft retreat takes more damage getting shot in the back, or getting shot in the back from a flank. They do it with tanks, I don't see why it can't be done with infantry. |
I agree ram is cheesy. But the devs were going for historical accuracy and the soviets did in fact use their t34s to ram just as the Japanese used their planes to kamikaze.
T34/85 should probably have ram removed. If a T35/76 were up-gunned and had more armor, let's just say that it makes it technically "less suitable for ramming". That goes for the doctrinal ones as well.
I guess I just want more dynamic teching choices as soviet, I stopped going T3 because I feel RAM is useless. This forces me into a T1-T4 strat where the entire game counts on keeping a sniper alive and rushing for an Su-85. |
That you can't ram a Tiger? That would be my suggestion which I thought was quite implicit. Where in my other posts did I even mention a P4.
Again, you're assuming that he has a T34 before my Tiger. I just played a game where he made T70s until a Tiger came out and then he made 2 T34s and continued to ram it and my other tanks over and over again. Quit thinking about the game measuring up as a whole and just break down the units as is.
Well that is just poor foresight on your part. |
