Dude, you serious?
Like the german sniper actually survives.
You can maybe get 1 shot, but that doesn't matter because than you have to run like crazy to your base.
Than the soviet sniper can still shoot like there is no tomorrow, guarded by guards.
It's always funny to see some people defending the mistakes made in the game.
Double sniper in a scoutcar against + guards against sniper/grens is just ALWAYS a loss for the german player. (you can faust it... (pfff boring), a skilld player will drive backwards, kill grens, guards kill grens.. scoutcar damages grens's health..)
SNIPER IDEA IS SHIT.
Yes, I'm 100% serious. I beat sniper/guard on a regular basis in both 1vs1 and 2vs2. German sniper, if used properly, is better than the Soviet sniper - especially at countersniping. Soviet sniper has more survivability and shoots smaller squads, but the advantages end there. German has better RoF, much better camo, and a stronger vet 1 ability (that is capable of 1-shotting Soviet sniper squads).
Another tip for you, if they're in the M3 they'll never be able to countersnipe you because they can't control who they target while inside the M3.
If you don't believe me I could either prove it to you in a 1v1 or I could show you in game how to deal with the strat... |
NDA withstanding, all I'll say is that I'm psyched for this game, very psyched. So much so that I don't give a fuck what the majority of naysayers such as Inverse harp on about in this thread, and haven't read 90% of it. CoH1 had no depth to its meta game at a similar stage in its life cycle but it slowly revealed itself much in the same way CoH2 is now, and it's stupid to me that a vocal minority are being absolutists incapable of giving it the time it needs to mature.
Relic are a small but dedicated dev team, you should give more time to a company that nearly got liquidated last year. They're doing wonders with patching CoH2, turning it from a sloppy mess into a blossoming competitive RTS. As incredibly varied and entertaining play in the recent Reddit 1v1 tournament has shown. The meta game is constantly changing even within the current patch, and there's a hell of a lot of change coming, as leaked patch notes have shown.
A fun game is slowly becoming a great game, and a worthy sequel. The great thing is the vocal portion of the CoH1 community that haven't given CoH2 enough of a chance are going to be rusty, and their premature opinions on its failure in its first year of release, will become a lot less relevant when they're revealed to be thoroughly mediocre CoH2 players. Then hopefully they'll spend less time whining about its short-comings, and more time playing.
This is pretty much exactly what I've been trying to say. Prefectly put A_E. And thank you for running the reddit tournament. It has been a blast. |
I haven't lost to sniper guard in 1v1 or 2v2 in a long time. So yes, it is easy to beat. More than that con spam sucks on langres as do shocks. Also sniper guard is the most reliable counter to FHT push which I expected on langres. |

You must have some luck then, good or bad. PTRS only takes 4 shots to kill a Scout Car. If you have one Guard squad, that's enough to keep it from charging, enough to keep the Snipers safe.
Guards only cost 30MP to reinforce, the same as Grenadiers. They're draining you long before you drain them.
221 forces guards to always be near their sniper, reducing their map control. German sniper shoots faster than sov and incendiary can kill multiple models, which means you drain guards faster than they drain your grens. |
bahahahahah!! When you use the abuse sniper scout car start your asking for it. love it! Oh skill plane comes with that commander to, you got what you deserved lol.
Except sniper m3 is easy to beat... TA on langres isn't, but okay bud. |
Thank you CieZ! And i must say quite a lame way to win from my side, nothing i am proud of. But i expect no less from my opponents in a tournament.
Very true, I would've done the same thing. When you're in a tournament you gotta play to win, no one can fault you for that. Looking forward to seeing you vs Giap |

The sniper guards start is easy to beat in 1v1. It is more of a problem in 2v2 but even then it is beatable. Pushing guards back to 2 cp will make it a lot easier to deal with in team games. |
Quite a lame way to lose but I should've been prepared for it.gg wp cata and I sincerely wish you good luck in the rest of the tournament |
I think that's where we'd disagree immensely. Inverse and others have been in close contact with Relic and put in a lot of time behind the scenes trying to improve CoH2's future, and they aren't seeing the results. Their frustrating is natural.
I've been a part of the balance beta for quite a long time now, and I've seen suggestions of my own, as well as plenty of others active in the beta get implemented or at least tested. We're also generally in direct contact with different members of Relic's staff and get to voice our opinions/concerns to them.
Sure they don't listen to everything we say, they don't test everything we say and sometimes we have bad ideas (as would anyone) but they're definitely listening to the entire community and trying to work very closely with us. |
Okay Inverse, so we both agree that you need a community that wants to play a game competitive - well we have that for CoH 2. Sure it isn't enormous but plenty of people have signed up for tournaments and even more have watched them. There have been tournaments almost non-stop since the game was released, and even before then. (IpKai's beta tournament, WiFi's Gamekeys, Semos, Langres, SNF 5, A_E's current tournament, ESL, WiFi has another tournament in the mix... etc etc).
Seems pretty clear to me that at least a portion of this community wants competitive play and cares about it.
Furthermore we have Relic's support in trying to grow said community. Developer support + community that wants competitive play = winning? I'd certainly think so. I really don't see the problem here. Just because you, and a handful of vCoH players, don't want to play COH 2 competitively doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of us out there that enjoy playing/watching the game in the competitive sense.
Even more than that, I'd think that if you truly cared about COH 2 and its future that you'd put effort forth in trying to improve the game instead of just beating the same dead horse on the forums all the time. Relic is working extremely closely with the community to improve the game for everyone (casual players and competitive players alike).
Finally, the whole argument that vCoH was this immensely, deep game that is super fun to play because wow. Such deep. Much tactics. while COH 2 is boring because it is shallow just doesn't really add up. As I've said before CoH 2 has tons of mechanics that increase the tactical and strategic depth of the game, and some that hinder it. But even Guderian admitted that for years 90% of vCoH games were rifle spam with BARS vs terror. Man... must have been just the most refreshing and diverse metagame ever to exist. =/
Quick edit: I'm not trying to say vCOH wasn't a deep game, only that the level of depth is often exaggerated. |
