I don't think anyone is defending m10 crush.
What's dumb is removing it from ANTI INFANTRY medium tanks. It's a terrible change in that regard.
Why should a medium tank be backing off and playing peek a boo and footsies with basic infantry?
Crush was pretty much exclusive to cromwells and m10. Next best was t34. What do all these tanks have in common aside from the best crush? Cheapest tanks and ALL ARE ALLIED TANKS. That's why they needed to be removed. Balance reasons.
The 2 Biggest blob factions are OKW and USFs because they have handheld AT, great firepower and 5 man squads. Allies had tanks to crush OKW blobs but axis don't have tanks can can effectively crush USFs blobs.
Don't get me wrong, crushing infantry with cromwell tanks was hands down my favourite mechanic in the game. I am where I am on the leaderboards for Brits mainly because of cromwells. But for the sake of balance removal of crush makes sense. Perhaps they could have just toned down the rotation rate of these tanks instead of removing it....
In any case I respect the decision to remove tank crush from mediums.

LEL.. right.
They can/will get down emplacements anyway they want. Other than mortar ht, there isnt much ostheer can do to emplacements.
Also i think this ostheer sniper superiority argument is overrated. Ostheer sniper will always be shooting to maintain inf parity agaisnt more lethal brit inf. Any half decent british player can make a sniper and get a counter snipe off. I say this because, ostheer sniper will be shooting at all times whilst the first shot the british sniper takes (if chosen) will be on the ostheer sniper. oh and i forgot the brit sniper will put a dent of the 222 aswell and call down arty if need be.
Glad im not the only one who doesnt think Ostheer sniper is so much better that the british one .
I also really enjoy the utility of the british sniper in the mid/late game with stunning and crit shotting enemies vehicles. |
Most?
Firefly, SU76/85, M36.... that's it, except ultra-expensive call-ins.
Just the dedicated AT tanks, which are all glass cannons. That makes sense.
point is, they all outrange Ostheer TDs (stug and panther) which means they always fire first and hardest. The stug is amazing for its fast ROF, but once its hit once, it needs to retreat so it doesnt even matter. |
At the cost of an unplayable British Faction. The Mortar Pit and Bofors are the only things holding Brits together in the Early-Mid Game.
And ISs, and vickers, and their sniper, and the ATG, and their sappers. honestly dont understand why ppl think brits are weak. learn to use cover and Youll see how amazing ISs can be. |
Good, fuck blobs. Space out your infantry or retreat.
Spacing out infantry only gets you so far. Want me to dig up a video of the cromwell crushing spaced out units too? |
Please stop perpetuating the myth that this is some kind of high skill mechanic... Its not. Just turn tank into infantry. Keep turning. Done. No skill required.
It does take skill but it's rewarded too much. You can wipe Obers and other elite infantry just as easily as pioneers. Cromwells with warspeed are hilariously OP in team games vs blobs. Add vet 3 and you have fastest most mobile thing in existence. |
Use blitz, then Axis tanks are good at crushing.
Or suppress squads with an hmg and crush them EZ.
Make blitz free like warspeed then and make it unlocked at t4 |
I honestly think most of Ostheers problems are going to be curbed with the new patch. Cheaper tech, sandbags to pios, nerf to mines, crush taken away, changes to FF, buffed brummbarrs. I think all these things are putting ostheer in a better position.
Back to OP
1) counter emplacements with double mortars. The amount of emplacements he has should be matched by that many mortars. Spread them out and have flamer pios ready to charge once Bofors is braced. If it's in team games make sure you have allies helping cover your mortars.
It can be difficult sometimes depending on the map tho.
2) mines were a huge problem for Ostheer especially since it's less feasible for them to get sweepers than other factions +4 man squads.
The patch changes fix this problem although they still suffer vs indirect fire and explosives.
3) p4 will be outmatched for its cost UNTIL it gains veterancy. It scales better than its counterparts. Only problem is getting it there alive since allied TDs are so potent. Jackson buff will make it even harder but FF tulip change will help it survive better.
4) panthers seem too specialized and dependant on RNG. Their front armor is all they really have going for them. Ostheer TDs (stug and panthers) are outranged by allied TDs. Makes it hard to counter them unless they are unsupported and you have spotting scopes so you can get first shot.
All in all I think the patch is helping ostheer a bit which is nice to see. |
Alright, let's clear things up here then.
Firstly you didn't say anything about the scenario you talking about being a 1v1/2v2 on an open map, second this is not the balance section so don't give me excuses about that, and thirdly, any change made affects the entire game, meaning it ruins it for the rest of us, those who aren't into the competitive scene and are purely playing the game for fun, and yes, I think that's a pretty valid reason, and no, I did make a mod, even 2 actually, but I abandoned them because they kept being broken from the constant updates.
This is how the conversation went. Guy asks what are brits best stock anti blob units. I suggest the centaur since itll be more effective without shrecks on volks (this was before it was moved to Spios). you respond that no centaur is easily countered by racketen and fausts. I say kite. you have a problem that i didnt setup a scenario for you? sorry mate. cant help you. I didnt quote you first, you quoted me

I agree partially for open maps but not in urban combat ones such as Sittard or Stalingrad for example.
These aren't in the map rotation anymore. |
