I was Brits on Langres and he was PE. I firmly had the north VP and the centre locked down. He kept running in and scorching the centre VP non-stop. I couldn't quite hold off each push due to pop cap and the last 30 minutes of the game was me repairing the point and him scorching it over and over. Then he quit. Did you at least remember to delete the two MG nests for more pop? ( ah the things we forget in the heat of battle.) In: Lobby

Supporting this project means is Relic willing to ban people if the FP sections decides they deserve a ban and is Relic capable to do ban people in matters of organisation at all since CoH is Steam based now? I am talking about CoH1, not CoH2. I have not read all of the license agreement but I would guess in there there is the right to ban certain game keys. They don't need Steams permission for that. It would not keep someone from buying a new game with an old account or, especially, with a new account. But it certainly Relic has some power (unless they have some different terms in their contract with Steam). In: COH Central

I am not going to link it. It was easy enough for me to find. It was somewhat educational to read through the thread. I learned about the game and some of the mechanics and gamers' views on the hacks (most of them self-serving). The thread included many threats of reporting and claims from the coder that he had been in touch with Relic and even provided them with his source code. The sum total of what had been done about it over the last 5-6 years is.... nothing. Different patches have broken the maphack. And it is possible that whatever was done could be done on a semi-regular basis on regular subsequent basis to ruin the capabilities of maphacks for a time. But I am not holding my breath. Or Relic could ban accounts or even work with Steam to ban Steam accounts. Doing so would mean they have to buy new games, wouldn't it? But again, I am not holding my breath. If they didn't do anything when COH was the hottest thing out there, they aren't going to do it now that they pushed it to its last legs with that last patch. In: COH Central

Wants money first although Unfortunately if you read the post to which you replied, it doesn't say anything about the maphack issue, only sync and drophack. The hacker who created the maphack referred to earlier (I expect the post to be diappeared soon) claims he offered to help Relic make it harder to maphack COH but had always been ignored. He also "justifies" his hacks saying that "everyone" does it and his hacks, being free, even the playing field. I think he is full of S--T but people are prone to doing what they want and rationalizing it after the fact. In: COH Central

Fix sync errors only, it doesn't need that much investigation and coding. Its really sad that you can't really fix such problem which players are having so often.... Release hotfix for sync errors and fix all other issues later, seriously... While the regular sync errors that came with the patch they might be able to fix, the old maphackers are back and many of them can sync a game with a keystroke. Doesn't mean they will win, which depends on trust system. Of course we don't know how well that is working either. In: COH Central

We played random, and when I press start button to search for games I immediately saw what faction we became. That's a little but counterproductive in my opinion because you don't get surprised when the loading screen pops up anymore. Also, if you don't want to play a certain faction, you just press start-stop until you get something else. And I usually go random to get a quicker game, but if your team gets determined when you press start button this has no impact. Maybe it always have been this way, but I thought that you had a bigger chance to get matched to someone in your skill range and the game would determine your factions after checking what teams were available. That's funny to learn. I suspect that since it is more likely that what "always was" is now viewable than that there had been a change in the coding. The patch reveals to us imperfections that were probably always there but hidden by the fact that there was a more robust community at the time. It is possible that Steam couldn't handle a properly randomized system the way we all thought it worked, but Occam's Razor say s it is more likely that less was done and that what we see is the result of a bug. In every custom game I played I haven't gotten a sync error. I did once get a unit freeze in about 20 games. I actually really hope that is true. It would make it easy for the trust system to determine win/loss and maybe also point out who the hackers are. Because it would be so awesome if it were that simple I am doubting it is the case. We just don't live in a perfect world. In: COH Central

I hope, i am wrong tho. No need to fix everything at once. But please fix some of the major errors that affect everyone like lobby, sync error, freeze. Hopefully some of the other more minor issues are easy fixes and can also be addressed. I include levels for "basic" games. If there are levels for "operation" games (and there are) then I am presuming a fix for "basic" also exists. If there are game breaking bugs, particularly prevalent ones, then that would be nice, but lets start with the stuff everyone notices and that affect the ability to find a game. In: COH Central

Here is today's numbers....about 2:1 right now, but at least once or twice during the week coh1 peaks close to coh2. Currently on/Peak 1,901/ 5,660 Company of Heroes 2 840/ 2,690 Company of Heroes (New Steam Version) And all that with a buggy patch that doesn't even show you all the games in lobby. If you aren't in the mood to play Automatch it can be very frustrating to find a game. Some nights I just don't manage to find one. In: COH Central
