All small arms have this attribute. at ranges below 10 weapons with point blank ignore cover. source is game files + relic dev I believe this attribute ignores both the benefits AND penalties, so units fighting point blank in red cover are battling each other with unmodified stats. True, hump-cover mechanics do make all squads fairly vulnerable to wipes. Even so, the 120mm seems to be more capable of wiping squads that aren't even in cover. This may, however, have to do with Axis squads being smaller than soviets, and this lack having that 5th or 6th entity straggling outside cover. I note the 120mm wiping weapon crews with far greater regularity than any other mortar though, in or out of cover. But my anecdotal experiences are just one person's perspective. It's ability to wipe weapon crews is pretty obvious though. And that makes it an exceptionally challenging unit for Ostheer to combat. My own 120mms when I play soviets almost always are wiped by offmaps, OKW stuka, or negligence to retreat after my front lines get flanked or otherwise collapse. Outside player error, it's most often offmap barrages and that bloody death stuka of OKW that ever takes out my 120. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Relic, you gonna fix 120mm, or not?16 May 2015, 14:38 PM The 120mm is the only mortar that wipes entire, full health squads in one shell. All the others often kill 2-3 models and only wipe understrength squads. That's the only thing about the 120mm that makes it so powerful: it overwhelmingly tips the scales in any battle of attrition. It may not reliably kill a squad or clear a weapon crew (unless it is vet 1 and you tell it to) but every engagement in range of a 120mm is a complete dice roll. Sooner or later a squads going to get deleted, and it won't really be a calculated risk. And that's what sets the 120mm apart. It tips the scale of battle in almost a completely random fashion, not a calculated or predictable one. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Cooldown bulletins- how good are they?15 May 2015, 19:06 PM Incidentally, I believe reload bulletins have more of an effect than cooldown bulletins due to reload times are usually greater than cooldown for most weapons. It's the difference of a few percentage points off a 3 second reload versus off a 1 second cooldown. A small difference, but if you're min/maxing the spreadsheet it can be meaningful. Thread: Balance of power has shifted to Allies in 4v4AT (imo)14 May 2015, 15:26 PM OKW was built as a completely different faction until just before WFA was released and they were completely revamped. The whole intended dynamic of their trucks being mobile is almost entirely irrelevant to the faction now. The medic HQ almost by definition shouldn't be put on the front. The conversion truck with automated repair pios also shouldn't be on the front lines for very similar reasons. Only the flak truck has any business being anywhere near the front lines. Most times I see OKW players rushing their trucks to the front I usually watch them get decimated, then call for a surrender, then quit by minute 10. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: It is OK to have tank with invisibility in this game?13 May 2015, 20:21 PM Yes, the Hellcat, a TOV unit. Its only downside was that it replaced the m10 tank destroyer which could actually penetrate axis armor. If the m10 didn't have the misfire bug that just made it not shoot anything, then the Hellcat probably wouldn't have meant much at all. It was a more durable, more AI focused (it could get an mg upgrade) tank. It's cloaking was obnoxious and could be easily abused, but since the tank didn't scale too well, it was often ignored. Kind of like if the SU-76 could cloak. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: It is OK to have tank with invisibility in this game?13 May 2015, 18:24 PM Does the invisibility require a sort of hull-down ability with a cooldown that either immobilizes the tank or reduces its speed and rotation like the forward scope sight on tanks like SU85s and Elefants? Because if its just a passive invisibility for not moving, then maybe it needs a drawback of some sort. The cloaking may not be a problem in and of itself, but the way it cloaks and what sort of restrictions/tradeoffs it has does matter a rather big deal. In: COH2 Balance
