Thread: Ostheer - MG42 20 May 2015, 15:26 PM I've been taking to decrewing my own mg42s with flamer pios attacking ground so I can recrew them with said pios for their sight. Also, there are a ton of maps that I believe the designers were explicitly trying to make mgs ineffective on for 80% of the battlefield. Few maps even have an open enough area for an mg42's arc without a bunch of shot blocking objects or a very obvious flanking lane circumventing the entire position. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Jackson vs Wolverine19 May 2015, 22:09 PM I have found the M10 to be most useful as a safety measure against things like Ostwinds and Luchs. It can be great at shutting down those kinds of shock units since it can come out of nowhere so easily. Other than that, it pretty much under performs in every way except infantry crushing. Thread: Langreskaya South19 May 2015, 21:52 PM The CoH1 maps in CoH2 make me weep for territory points that aren't so generic. I swear the first time I saw territory points giving fuel and munitions back in an alpha stream I thought they were very clearly and obviously placeholders for just getting a functional look at the game. I miss strategic points. I miss high, medium, and low resource points. None of the old maps translate that well because territory points and resources are handled so differently. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Should the Ooorah require teching?19 May 2015, 21:47 PM I always thought that Hit the Dirt! should just make conscripts act as they would be when suppressed, but be immune to getting pinned. And if anything Oorah! would be more appropriate as a vet 1 ability as it is on Penal battalions. If anything though, Penals are the ones that should have the ability without vet. As a tech option requiring fuel? No, I don't think that would work unless it then became a free ability, which would be, well, still a no. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Relic, you gonna fix 120mm, or not?18 May 2015, 13:25 PM You know there are many games that I use the 120mm or fight against a 120mm that it doesn't cause game breaking levels of RNG damage. However, the 120mm is the one unit that I know, when it does hit, wipes full health squads with relative ease. If it killed 1-3 models and left the last few guys a couple stray bullets from death that would be great. A single shell wiping a full health vetted squad is what gets frustrating. I can come back from having a couple squads get instantly wiped here and there, but if it happens in too quick a succession or too early on, it can be really annoying. The crew's survivability is another issue altogether. In: COH2 Balance

No OKW player has Tigers, no Ostheer player has King Tigers. Not to mention Tigers are doctrinal, and King Tigers are stock units. In: COH2 Balance

I often lose first engagement as Ost unless my opponent screws up or rng goes my way, so obviously I am not using my grens in tactical efficient manner. Normally i try to fight from max range and in cover, if not at max then medium or whatever is close. But cons can stall in green cover and wait for reinforcements or assistance from indirect fire so these type of engagements cannot drag on. If it is the first engagement of the game, then try to utilize your pioneers. They can serve two very crucial functions in the first engagement: They can draw fire from your grens, and more importantly, they can dominate a conscript squad on their own if they can close. Once that cover is negated they will clean out the conscripts with no question, especially with the support of 2 grenadier squads. A grenadier and a pio squad can decisively defeat a conscript squad supported with combat engineers, or even another conscript squad if you handle yourself well. But honestly, the best way for Ostheer to win the first engagement is to be fighting it defensively. In: COH2 Gameplay
