Thread: I strongly oppose the Soviet sniper change25 Apr 2018, 19:31 PM This is getting silly (as usual) The soviet sniper vs ostheer is far too hard to counter particularly on open maps in the small game modes. The question is not should it be nerfed/counters buffed but rather is dropping to one model the best solution to achieve this for balance and/or gameplay. In: COH2 Balance

However brits have the bren carrier and a little later their own sniper to counter snipe so are not quite as helpless as OST. Sov can countersnipe or use an m3 or field 6 men cheaper squads. The 222 When it finally arrives often has to chase sov snipers into base to kill them normally dying before they do. Other options include blobbed g43 grens, lucky mortars or exotic solutions like squads loaded into halftracks. Of course you all know all this. Personally I hoped ra nerfs and 222 buffs would be enough to balance snipers and was surprised by the proposed change In: COH2 Balance

You go two snipers and you don't have MP for penals to hold the line. Then Axis just rush to your base with more Grenadier and Volks. That's why I hate Soviets go for two snipers and leave the burden of holding line to his teammate. Against wehr there’s no need to hold the line provided the map has good open sight lines for the snipers. Every time the twin snipers fire a wehr unit has to retreat to base or be wiped. Am I missing something? Are the days over, where we give a company money for a finished product? Rightly or wrongly its about control. The more money you bring to the table (or the more finished product) the less control you have to cede to the corporate funders (publishers). In this case (they have 4 kickstarted games made before) they want to develop around $2million of the game first (with $1million of their own funds already invested) before bringing a publisher on board. Many kickstarters turn to dust but I have backed several and they all came out ok. The sums are often small and I think it keeps the games industry healthy and dynamic. In: Other Games
Thread: Iron Harvest kickstarter goes live tomorrow 19 Mar 2018, 22:01 PM It’s an alternative Russian civil war but the sides have diesel mechs and slightly silly names. Inspiration will have come from the armoured trains and the multiple factions involved in the conflict. Scythe, the board game inspired by the setting in addition to ‘Rusviet, Polania and Saxony have Crimean tartars, Albion (England) and even Japan (can’t remember their made up name). These were all participants in the civil war and attempts to interfere in it. They also have a Nordic faction that is probably the Finns but is placed geographically where one of the White Russian forces made its main thrust. In: Other Games

Gcs 2 apparently might get some sega support if it’s big enough (raises lots of cash) and the organisers might then push for a modest patch (which happened last time) In: Lobby

Thread: Mortars/Indirect have broken the game9 Mar 2018, 11:25 AM A key issue with the 120 is that it’s range keeps it so far back from the action that it’s hard to counter and if you take the risk to go deep to kill it it’s 6man squad and survival with one model means this is rarely rewarded.
