The issue is that the game in 4v4 is ruined at the moment.
I refuse to waste 30 mins of my time before getting steam rolled by the usual suspects.

Most of the pros play 1v1, although I do believe that if the game was perfectly balanced there, 4v4s would be in a much better shape
This. 1v1 is currently pretty imbalanced, it just shows more in 4v4.
It's apparently already incredibly hard to balance 4 factions just for 1v1. Making them balanced in all 4 modes would be exponentially harder.
4v4 and 1v1 will never both be perfectly balanced because when several players work together there will be certain strong unit and ability combinations that cannot be replicated in 1v1. One example is the cloak ketten with sniper in vcoh. Another is multiple KTs in CoH2. Its extremely difficult to nerf a combination of units without making them really underperform in 1v1. But if you try to balance one unit against another that can be done without screwing the team games. USF is weak in 1v1 therefore they are very weak in team games. Make them balanced in 1v1 and they will also become more balanced in team games.
tl;dr 4v4 will never be perfect in CoH2 but it is possible to make balance changes that will improve both 1v1 4v4 and everything in between. |

Considering that the higher ups are so set in there ways on what this game should be that they pretty much ignore 90% of the feedback coming from their private alpha test group, I think its safe to say they give two shits what some guy at EGX has to say. Typical PR response, you got Relic rolled.
Can you really blame them when most suggestions (at least here on the forums) are poorly thought out and rooted in personal bias?
They completely ignore a lot of legit complaints that are well thought out with solutions made for them. This isn't a issue of Pqumsieh not getting any good feedback, the problem since launch has been that the people pulling the strings at Relic are so proud of their clusterfuck of a game that they are unwilling to settle for most of the changes almost everyone could agree on. Answered a few of your questions but too lazy to take quotes from all the different places.
-Should you get all buildings? Depends. In long games you should ALWAYS have AT guns, do not rely solely on handheld AT or tanks in really long games because its easy to adapt to those by massing Paks Shreks or good infantry killing units. WSC is good to have eventually, but if your Rifles are scaling very well with lots of veterancy you may not need them. I don't usually throw up a late T4 unless its to deal with heavy T3 play or a pesky Ostwinds or Pumas that keep evading my AT guns. Getting fast Shermans is good in some situations especially on Sturzdorf, but getting late Shermans after you already had a T3 up is a pretty weak tech move imo.
-Armor is a bit of a novelty doctrine vs Wehrmacht unless you are trying to do some Silence T17 spam strat you're going to have a bad time because Calliopes are inferior compared to 105mm and come later, also the Pershing underperforms a bit for a heavy tank. Armor is decent against PE though. Airborne is good for a few things. Good for dealing with Sniper spam and huge blob play obviously. Also decent against Stugs and Stuhs. Not so good vs mass Pumas since they miss a lot. Infantry is usually the best option BUT if you are playing vs a heavy T3 player avoid howitzer unless Nebels are getting really annoying because artillery is not the answer to a highly mobile unit composition. And do not use Rangers as your main AT against Pumas because they will get kited and chewed the fuck up, instead use ATGs or M10s and use Rangers more as a finisher unit on damaged Pumas that are trying to get away so that do not risk your M10s or ATG moving them up too far.
-Focus more on mechanics than meta strat at this point in time. Once you've gotten better about the flanking and idle units then incorporate new opening build orders but until then I recommend 2eng 4rifle since experimenting with new playstyles won't solve anything if you are still struggling with mechanical problems (bad flanks and multitasking). Not saying that 2E4R is the all time strongest build order, but if you aren't already playing at a high level that is not the most important refinements you should be making at this time. I guess a good analogy in golf terms would be not to spend big bucks on the top of the line equipment before you can swing properly and strike the ball well on most shots. |
Not at all. Even an 8 minute delay opens up possible exploits, like being able to alert someone to permanent actions (mines, wire, bunkers, mines), especially mines, which are invisible and may remain undetected until tripped. A delay as low as 3 minutes opens up far more possibilities for cheating, like telling your opponent OKW is stockpiling fuel, or that your opponant's forces are largely concentrated around X area, or even predictions based off his resource income + available units / tech which can put the game in another player's favour.
The only valuable info on that long of a delay is mines. Any decent player should easily recognize troop location or lack of spent fuel in a 8 minute window. 2 minutes is plenty long enough. |
We were not important enough to be allowed to test and help develop the observer mode features. Just another reason I am glad I retired.

Just checked some SNF 4 casts on youtube that featured late game matches and like 50 % of them show that the players have tons of fuel at the 30 minute mark but no manpower which means that fuel is completely irrelevant.
Are you trying to make an absolute stance on something based on what you observed happening 50% of the time? Lulz
PS: just because in some games people opted not to use a lot of fuel doesn't mean it is usless either. If I prefer X beer over Y beer it doesn't mean that Y beer doesn't contain alcohol in it. |
heavies only cost MP so fuel became a useles ressource late game
That is only the case in PE games where they tech to Panther battle group and spam them for the rest of the game. In CoH1 you only get one heavy and any competent US player will supplement his Pershing/Calliope with Shermans and tank destroyers and Wehrmacht players will get more T3/T4 vehicles and/or veterancy to go with the Tiger or KT. |
