I need something to measure MG coverage. Be it Maxim, MG42 or Vickers - I need to know, how far they can reach, so I can set-up cover and buildings properly. If there isnt a tool to do so, can you recommend a way of measuring it?
Also, I seem to have gotten the height of hills a little out of proportion and they were a bit too extreme. It wasnt perfect - the heightmaps were not. I need the map to be perfect for my game design portfolio and if its going to be balanced-enough and recieves some approvals on this forum, ill get someone to help me balance it to perfection and hope its gonna get into the game.
I make really pretty-looking maps and I am obsessed with balance. But I need some help first. My first map was looking great, but it was WAY out of proportions. It was supposed to be a 1v1 map, but it became huge really quickly. |

Its not meant to be played yet tho and I wont opinion of someone who knows his way around WB |
It still isn't balanced. You can't say that...
It wipes too often, but doesen't fire as slow as the 120mm and isn't doctrinal - it is the best light artillery in the game. |
It actually would, because it does the exact same 80 damage any other small indirect unit does.
It wouldnt, because its trading point is firing across the whole goddamn map, having five men for a crew and always hitting right on top of the unit with near-pinpoint accuracy, while having higher AoE than Leig or the base mortars of each faction, except the 120mm. |
Why give a bar initially to a weaker unit, it is better to give it an Rifleman. I practically did not see that in rating games or in tournaments someone would give the echelon the bar, enough to give it to the Rifleman.
Because it synergyses with the supression ability, mate. |
Yes - the damage is too great. Not necessairly the AoE. Reducing the damage wouldn't be too much of a nerf and since the only big emplacement problems for USF is the OKW Flaktruck and Pak 43s behind buildings, which are extremely situational, but it wouldnt be such canc |
They should get their STGs back, because they're not spammable anyway, don't have a powerful grenade anymore and listen now;
They are a 4-man squad, which means their DPS is getting reduced by a quarter every time they lose a man compared to their allied counterparts. I wouldn't mind if they costed 370 and had their STGs back AND kept their free SMG upgrade on top of it. It's extremely micro-heavy to re-inflitrate and you HAVE to retreat some time, unless you are facing total newbies, therefore it's not viable - especially if you have both a sniper and Stormtroopers on the field, so giving them an option to be useful in the manner of "More expensive, less effective Ostheer shocktroops" after they retreat would be quite nice to have. Make the STG upgrade available only in own, connected territory and the SMG upgrade outside of it. So you inflitrate, you uncap a point behind the enemy line/you destroy a cache, then you probably ambush an enemy engineer squad, forcing them to retreat and then your opponent sends his blob, because that's all people do these days, to rid of you inflitrators, forcing you to retreat and - provided you survive - you can now use them as a heavy infantry unit. This isn't overpowered at all, in my opinion. |
i fully agree, i dont get how brits can have evrything without any weakness, they have a huge early game powerspike, resonalbe cheap and very durable infantry on the field healing, aec to shut down any light vehicle play, cheap tech.
And dont even get me started on the commanders, from broken airstrikes (tactical support) to cheap pak drops for 125 mp, and a ability that locks down an entire map for 2 min (amazing for teamgames) while also having valentine techbypass.
Dont forget the best infantry tank in the game, which cannot be pentrated from the front by anything lesser than a Panther, land matresses, that can just be recrewed ad infinium unlike other rocket artillery while also damaging tanks and firing for three centuries nonstop, Comet spam in team games, because "Its just a British Panther, that can also wipe infantry, which is FINE" and now, since their only weakness was CQC combat they get SMG sections buildable from early midgame. Beautiful. |
While you make a lot of good points, the original devs had exactly the same approach. The game is a tangled mess under the weight of seven years of drastic changes and overcomplicated, inconsistent solutions, not three.
What it desperately needs is a big standardisation patch.
I cannot disagree with this. Instead of releasing patches every season, they should just work for half a year on a big standardisation patch, return some messed-up maps to their original state (What the hell have they done to Angoville?!) and focus on faction differences. Then return to seasonal patches and make only 1-2 more of them, while only focusing on units stats and NOT game mechanics. |
