Tactical Movement:
Not worth it for its current cost. Should come with something like 25-33 % Cap speed, or alternatively, give some combat bonus (without the in-combat sprint though, tyvm)
G43 Grens:
Need something, they're just plain bad right now. They're fine until midgame, and then they fall of as a hard as a rock thrown from a cliff. Maybe a third G43 and some minor RA buff once T4 has been built?
Panzer Tactician:
Give it a delay so it's not a get-out-of-jail free card.
Relief Infantry:
Probably among the most useless abilities in the game. Needs a complete rework.
Command Tank:
Give it observation mode and a smoke shell, that should be enough to make the unit worthwhile.

13cp King Tiger (T4 must have been built)
The doctrine isn't bad, but needs something to stand out. I think a KT would open up some interesting possibilities within the commander, and make it a viable option in the 2v2+ meta. If the package of hulldown, Command Tank and KT is too strong, replace the Command Tank with something like Panzer Commander or HEAT shells.
Festung Support:

2cp Mortar HT/Leig
3cp Supply Drop

12cp Sector Artillery
Literally the most useless Wehrmacht commander by a long distance. However, if Relief Infantry were to be replaced by something like Entrenching Tools, you all of a sudden have a commander that lives up to its description of, “Support a defensive strategy; control space with artillery to establish a strong front line.”
The Mortar HT, unfortunately is currently not worth it. Either buff it, or alternatively, replace it with the Leig18.
Finally, the Supply Drop fits thematically, whereas smoke bombs are more of an offensively-used ability.
Mobile Defense:
Mostly fine, but Osttruppen reserves is a useless ability and should be buffed or replaced. Likewise, the Puma needs to be 4 CP instead of 5, because it currently just comes too late to be useful.
Mechanized/Mechanized Assault:
Change the 250 bundles to work like the 250 from German Infantry. |
Classic case of an unnecessary double nerf. Instead of taking away the issue (that they did too much damage while being very tough to kill), the balance team took away both.
Since it's agreed their durability was too much, either return the G43 or boost the StG they get. Because if 5 Man Grens are useless, no one's going to pick this commander. |
G43 Grens need ungimping. They’re fine early, but drastically fall off late game to the point of being useless. It’s a double shame because they technically allow for a more aggressive playstyle, and unlike LMG grens, are actually able to attack into green cover to some degree.
Tiger I needs to be Made Great Again!
If Rifle Company is to ever be viable, the Ez8 needs to be viable. This is easily done by making it more like the T34/85 as Mirage did in his mod.
Ppsh cons need something to be made viable. Advanced Warfare is a cool commander that is brought down by PPSH cons.
Relief Infantry/Rapid Conscription need a complete rework.
Counter-barrage on Lefh needs to be nerfed or go completely.
ML20 needs a slight buff.
Add an OST King Tiger to either Strategic Reserves or Festung Armor to make those two doctrines interesting.
Land Mattress needs to be non-doctrinal. Period. |
Lierneux and Poltawa are still listed in the map pool even though they're supposed to have been removed. |

The problem with Ostheer is that they are a defensive oriented faction and are terrible at attacking.
The changes making the pace of the game faster, the high lethality of allied infatry, the weaker mortars, the reduced shock value of PzIV and allied tech more accessible have amplified the problem.
That is why the have to use specific aggressive commanders like assault grenadiers, 5 men grenadiers/fast 250 or fast capping commander like ostruppen, in order to secure sector else they are simply strangled.

Some minor disagreement on some things (specifically the Bofors change), but otherwise this looks like an outstanding patch. |
The issue with LMG grens isn't that they're bad per se, it's that they utterly incapable of attacking into green cover in any effective way (Speaking form a 2v2 perspective here). That issue is only compounded by the shit map pool, which generally means you have little or no room at all to flank.
G43 Grens are hopeless, and I'm not sure what can be done to fix them without making them too good. |
