So ok, seeking was accused of map hacking, and that clearly didn't work out. So now lets just ban him for boosting. Even tho he admitted he boosted deadbolt like 2 months ago, wasn't given any punishment, and now that he cant get banned for map hacks, lets just bring that old stuff up and convict him on that. IMO seems something AE would do.
Uhm no, that's not even slighty what happened. It came to light in that time that his uncle has 100% obviously used map hacks. Do you not feel that is useful information? There was also players that had come up against deadbolt that were convinced it was seeking, there was replay analysis to back it up, after the warning.
Please do better research into this topic before creating such narratives. Or feel free to ask. Cheers! |
You never really presented me the actual evidence.
As previously shown that conversation was kind of one way wasn't it... |
Is he still suspended for a year from playing in ML?
I won't be making any further comment whilst this remains such an emotional issue, I fear it would just lead to bad decisions. Let's give it time to settle down a little. |
Can I just say any sentiment suggesting that I would ever, ever, target a player and ban them without wanting consensus or unfair process is nonsense. The only dog in this fight I have is wanting to see fair CoH competitions and not see behaviour that goes against this.
Sturmpanther was even reticent to include me in any analysis of Seeking as I was seen as having too much conflict of interest in wanting this particular player to prosper, and you know what, he was right to think that. It took me days before I even started to believe all the evidence. I was one of the last people to commit my opinion.
I have a long history of running tournaments dating back to September 2012 and to my credit although the handling of fair play allegations has always been amateurish at best, so many tournaments in CoH history have been marred with this bullshit. So many organisers have quit or been castigated. We had a really good run of form that felt too good to be true in ML's first year.
I would like to thank those who convinced me to drop any allegations of map hacking and focus only on what could be proven. I think that was 100% as the correct way forward, and the very first person I alerted that that's what I would be doing was Seeking himself.
In fairness to Relic although I remain annoyed over the Satup account, I can completely see their approach with Seeking as valid and think they managed things as well as they could. In a system where it takes a high IQ to play the game at the highest level, that same intelligence can be used to hide foul play, and you can't do anything about it. Only hardcore detection can prove anything.
The only evidence that we used and acted upon was as follows:
1) After initially lying, Seeking admitted to playing on his uncle's account/pc
2) Deadbolts account was boosted to top 5 on the 1v1 ladder on the eve of a tournament that relied on automatch entry.
3) His uncle was later shown to have a past of cheating (3 VAC bans), and publicly defended himself as the player 'satup' who was shown to be obviously cheating in a very transparent... use of map hacks.
4) The Deadbolt account easily won several games against high level 2v2 opponents with double the CPM than usual after the initial warning/ban, the opponents thought it was Seeking, and all analysis of the replays pointed towards someone other than Deadbolt (a rank 300ish player) playing. This was presented to Seeking, with no response.
As we currently sit: Seeking time banned from ML tournies for the above offenses and all map hack accusations dropped as the evidence is subjective. and with an already issued public apology from myself in the annoucnement... what's more to be said in all honesty? |
Friendly word of advice: Giving someone the "opportunity" to hand over money, or else you will file a police report accusing said person of being "a cheat [...] that steals money" is an act of coercion (§240 StGB Nötigung, für unsere deutschsprachigen Freunde), punishable by imprisonment or a fine under German law.
Discussing it in a "private PM thread" is conspiracy to commit said coercion, also illegal.
Good thing you didn't actually follow through with this stupidity. My advice: You are adults (in some cases over 30), start acting like it.
No not report him to the police, complain to his employer.... And again, it was only ever meant as an exclamation of anger in a private PM chain, not meant to be taken seriously in any way. It looks very foolish now of course, and it was never meant to be a publicly scrutinised statement of a rational person. |
I am pretty sure everyone knew that i was working on my document. I even talked with mutliply people (players, refs) and they were all waiting for my document. I also streamed last time and people asked me if i am trying to appeal. AE even gave me the chance of one week of response to this case. You can also check AE's second video.
You chose to work on a document that you knew I was saying would no longer be relevant to the actions I thought we should take, you were given this first and knew about it before anyone, you chose to ignore it? |
https://youtu.be/GzkzK7OK0lE?t=45 from here the next 30 secs and also the 2min till the 3 min mark. I dunno, but it deff seems like an agreement on how this is gonna go. or do u just spread suggestions and fake news in those vids? And then suddenly an undermining deal shows up in the final days of seeking writing his doc. A deal that seeking ignored, and used his right to remain silent on. But it doesnt work for u, so u pull the plug on this and make a own judgement. when u did this, u decided to not give seeking the same podium to present his side, which u literally say in this fragment u will. Also there is a screenshot in the doc, which clearly implies that u dont care about his doc anymore. So that keeps me wondering how u intend to keep word to the things u assured in the vid?
I start that sentence with "hopefully..." and then later PM seeking with a clear way forward that he ignores. One that I put a lot of consideration into, and thought would be best for everyone.
Also that very video prominently displays Seeking's VOD in the description and comment, clearly showing willing to show both sides. |
I have my right to remain silent. My document was supposed to be the response to you. proceding because i didn't answer isn't justifying to ban me.
Nah you were temp banned for:
1) Admitting to playing on the pc and account of someone later to show to be a cheater. (The second part of that was revealed after the initial warning).
2) There being evidence of you playing on said account after the initial warning.
Well in "remaining silent" you closed channels of communication, not the wisest of moves. I'd say we're in a competition here to see who can make the unwisest move, like a spy thriller but with idiots on both sides. |
What agreed process, a general concept was suggested, but I don't remember anywhere a process being agreed and adhered to?
I do think we should have processes and procedures for the future, as outlined in my announcement on this matter.
The only official thing I declared to seeking was from what I could see the only factual way to proceed, and it was suggested to him first, he ignored it. I waited two days then decided to proceed.

well if someone was actually proven to be a cheater in a high stakes coh2 tournament (which is not the case here as we all agree), it wouldn't be THAT absurd. It's a terrible idea just because it wouldn't lead anywhere legally and mixing up internet life and real life is generally not smart but I don't see how anyone would be completely flabbergasted by it?
I suppose I just mean at the time I was not thinking clearly and said something emotional and silly that was never meant to be seen in an official capacity, only in a private message thread. That said in places like South Korea it's genuinely illegal to hack/cheat in gaming events etc. |
