Thread: Pioneers after early game22 May 2020, 01:25 AM Ok, i am starting the list by myself. -DMG reduction for pios (like the one rangers had) -5 man pio -shared vet pio -lower vet pio -cheaper to reinforce pio -cheaper squad of pio -rifle starting + smg upgrade (and flamer maybe) pio -breakthrough package for pios -Free medkits -Faster squad speed Now combo it as you will with some of the next conditions: Default condition (simply buff) As soon as T4 is built Veterancy BP1-2-3 researched Now every argument is indexed, if i missed one feel free to add it yourself. Pair up the suggestions and conditions and defend your statement in a orderly fashion. Feel free to add balance nerf to pios/other squad. In: COH2 Balance

True communism in the frontlines! Its OUR war after all! (read it comically please) So i voted Yes. Main reason would be volk is cheap to reinforce, and bigger squad size help them to stay alive. In a match, you don't need an elite damage dealer, you need good number of affordable and reliable infantry to stay presence at everywhere in the battlefield. The rest is placing them at tactical position to give advantage against enemy. Well, i think we have a healthy disagreement, but we agree that having good map control is important. Obers are like a spear, meanwhile cons/volks are like a short sword. One is fast and reliable for attacks and defense. The other simply outmatches any offensive potential at the expense of defense and versatility. In game, many squads secure map control and resources. In tight frontlines stronger units withstand punishment and deal a lot of damage too. Elite infantries are mainly AI squads with different mechanics (assault, camophlage, sniping, skills) and are focused on displacing normal defenses. Cost reliability is not their forte, otherwise you end up with elite core infantry. A whole new tier of infantry power. In: COH2 Balance

Base stats are fine, but there is no reward for keeping them alife. I also Agree that partisans should scale better but i think that squad preservation is overrated and in this case in particular partisans should not have the benefit of it. Quite paradoxical, i know. I cant believe what im reading... Fallshrimjaeger lost their snare for no reason then. Gren and volks and conscripts (all the non-AT rifles variants) are not worth having snares! Seriously, talking about bias you simply lost it there SHF. Just stop it there. Snares ARE important. It defines what "CORE" or mainline infantry is. Thats why UKF got snares on their RE, becuse the tool is a CORE perk. Now, please leave offtopics aside and focus on Pios Xp values as it was mentioned before. Late game presence of pios could use veterancy. Maybe rework the vet bonuses into a more utility version of Pio. To contrast Sturmpios as a core combatant engineer unit In: COH2 Balance
Thread: [Feuersturm] MP40 and Hetzer20 May 2020, 16:41 PM Make Hetzer come earlier or make it a late game flamer unit with better armor/Hp/Target size. Currently i see it as a medium with medium-late game timing. Worthless the effort because there is a lot of allied mediums that shut it off even before being deployed and a couple ATGs can bully it easily, too easily. In: COH2 Balance

I see a double standard in luch or flame HT is fine but AAHT arrives later than any but T70. You can't defend this From the begining of the match Allied factions have superior infantry by terms of power/numbers. Only conscripts are the exeption. Each mainline has a downside to consider but thats it. On the other side OKW relies on massing volks and OST on MG42 or ostruppen to keep up with the pressure. And then the LV window opens, Luchs and FHT are the intended counter swing from axis. 222 is a weaker version and 251 / 250 are supportive versions. 221 is simply a weaker version of 222. T70 is on a golden spot because it arrives soon enough to cut this axis window but also endures relatively good AI/AT (Puma has less AI for more AT, AEC is similar). Allied elite infantries arrive at this time aswell, so to keep some sort of balance: M5 HT is not a core opening unit compared to T70, i agree with SJ that buffing it will put a desired value in it without breaking the whole balance. Other suggestions could simply cascade in a chaos light vehicle phase of the game. I think you want to point out that luch's timing is rather too soon maybe? I would blame it on some of the allied early powerspike, UKF IS, SU T70+Penals, USF Rifles+LT/Cpt. If allied factions could affort to go TW after an early big push, its gg for axis, you need some sort of early stalemate breakthrough In: COH2 Balance

I might point out that the riflemen design is something like a early available infantry that will scale up pretty well to lategame, meaning that the player have to focus on preservation as core strategy. Wich sounds logical. As a counter example OKW volks (IMHO scale too well, too much i mean) should be soon or later be replaced by obersoldaten (even though ober have no snare) because time wise volks should stop being reliable at some point between mid game and late game. Its a design perspective balance. So, riflemen cost reflect some of that design, its harsh economically in early game but you are guaranteed to have better infantry along the match if you keep the squad alive. Other have combinations of squads or have the squads locked until later stages of the game. Pre-pgren patch, were a good example of tool denyal for OST. UKF IS have a similar design but they have no snare, putting them between elite infantry and mainline infantry, bolster is the only reason they are bleed cost effective. In: COH2 Balance
