Small arms can hold off until you can just build one reactively. A wounded squad of volks is susceptible to be wiped out by a clowncar for example. IIRC there are like 3 full minutes between scout car comes out and volks receive pfaust (in a typical 3 volks opening). Even if you dont lose the squad its forced to retreat as soon as the clowncar shows up. In order to contest early fuel or cutoff, a raketen is a must if SOV goes t1. At least from my experience If you're really paranoid you could just go pfuss, but it's not like volk Faust timing is that late. And no, its not paranoia, its precaution. There are plenty of 1v1 replays showing what im saying. But thanks if you did really cared about. Nowdays i see a mixed probability of seeing SU going full conscripts vs volks as like as clowncars. I think OP point is valid although a needless patch Add: I would like to see its main gun enabled, like a Sherman and reduce its armor. Simple as that. Thread: Should doctrinal units/upgrades be superior?27 Jun 2020, 14:57 PM I like the approach of straight asking about what a doctrinal unit should be like. I think that it depends on the faction design and its units individual balance power. By balance power I'm saying compared to the rest of the units ingame. Having the best medium tank (in general terms) but also having even better doctrinal medium tanks will lead to problems on many fronts. Some will say the stock tank is useless and others will say it's OP to have such many strong options. Doctrinal options are to add diversity and unpredictability to the skirmish, forcing players to adapt with the units they have, rather than brute force the other player with apm. So any kind of doctrinal unit can be created, strong, weak, it doesn't matter, but being different to stock or unique amongst all factions does. Some doctrinal units become more valuable than others, because they support the faction on the current metagame, or fill a big gap in the faction design. To have a fundamentally required doctrinal units is (by me) a design mistake. Because it's a clear sign of design corruption. Even if it's ostruppen, if the faction needs it, the metagame and the faction design altogether failed to deliver balance. I think it would be great to discuss which are the top 5 best/ worse doctrinal units and why In: COH2 Balance
Thread: The problem with raketen27 Jun 2020, 04:39 AM I'm fully aware that raketen is both, a must have for okw early game but also a risky move, because once revealed, the allied player can simply choose not to cheese with early lv bullying and pick another infantry squad for an almost 2 squad advantage, depending on the allied faction. Okw have the spio squad to mitigate the missing raketen but it's pretty lackluster in AT performance. I'd say that a raketen nerf will force a sturmpio buff. Also I would say that raketen towards late game are less potent, specially when compared to allied ATG. In: COH2 Balance
