1. General faction thoughts:
The Soviets had the most powerful artillery in the war but in CoH2 they barely have good artillery off-map abilities. Only 5! of 22 soviet commanders have an off map artillery ability: 3 have incendiary barrage, 2 AT overwatch. Compare that to the number of 11 airstrikes and you see a huge discrepancy. Therefore I would love to see some new off map artillery abilities in some of the 2nd or 3rd tier commanders to make them more distinctive. New arty abilities could replace some of the airstrikes or the ML20.
Off map Arty ability ideas:
• ZIS Barrage: no explanation needed
• Rocket Barrage: Works like the OKW version but with Kathy rockets instead of Stuka rockets
• Breakthrough Arty: Mix of ML-20 and smoke shells
• Heavy bombardment: 3 B4 shells, Soviet equivalent to Railway artillery
All ideas are of course more or less copies of axis abilities. If you have more creative ideas, please post them I will incorporate them in the OP.

Here are my general thoughts about such a patch:
• There are only 2 factions imo that would need bigger commander reworks like those in the past: Wehrmacht and Soviets. Both have multiple underperforming commanders with poor design. In contrast to those factions UK, USF and OKW commanders are mostly fine. It’s more about fine-tuning them instead of reworking – result of the good changes in the past!
That’s why I would prefer a slightly different approach this time in case the scope of the patch would allow bigger reworks:

The US had the mightiest air force in the war but sadly CoH2 don’t reflect that. Even OKW, a faction that represents a late german army which had historically almost no air support, has 2 strong off map airstrikes – USF only one. This has to change!

I understand that you nerf op VSL and Osttruppen. But you should combine it with a buff for standard Grens.
Right now you are fighting the symptoms but dont cure the disease.
And it's fair to ask why Ost doctrinal units are rightfully nerfed when op allied elite infantry call-in units are still untouched.
so far using ProtonVPN has been great, prventing all lags.

That's because Relic's CoH2 servers are hosted at AWS in NA. This route has major traffic jams at the moment. Your brother has probably a different ISP and therefore uses different routes. Most other games have distributed servers all over the world and therefore offer a better connection to the servers.
The issue is quite simple. It's a peering problem between telekom und amazon and the immediate nodes. Lots of shady business going on in the background.
Thx for your detailed answer. Just one more question: You described the structural explanation for the laggs. But should we not have this problem the whole time then? Why can we play months without any problems and then suddenly the game is unplayable? (Sorry, 2 questions)
There are general issues with IPv6 in german routers, I've got Vodafone(on unitymedia infrastructure as I did upgrade once they have joined) one and I had periods where any online activity was pretty much impossible until I've changed it.
Check for package losses as well when the lags arrive as very often that is the cause of these lengthy lags, you can't feel them in CoH2 in other way then your 3 sec lag, but any other game is completely unplayable when it happens from my experience(BW area).
What I still dont understand is why I ONLY have problems with CoH2. And why my brother who lives 3 km away in Augsburg NEBER had any problems although I have the faster connection? Im talked me into believing that the big traffic at the evening might cause the problems but then my bro should have even bigger issues and none at all...
Its really frustrating. I had laggs in the past, sometimes 2-3 weeks. But now I have huge problems since November. Lets hope that something can be done in January.
The Luchs is still considerably worse while chasing, or when firing from the other side of heavy cover. Or against vehicles. It's faster too. And all this for a mere 10 more fuel.
