Ostheer has been fairly meh in the past, but the last few patches have adjusted it to the point it is among the strongests faction in almost every respect
Why? Ostheer has always been an all round versatile faction with strong units of all types hamstrung by very weak line infantry leaving low room for mistake when using its high performing weapon teams as line infantry could not by itself pull the slack.
This has now changed, ostheer has been consecutively given mainline buffs: pzgren accessibility, assault grenadiers with 5-6 mans, 5 man grens blobs that self heal, with no nerfs to their previous toolkits. This was still somewhat mitigated by the fact assgren&pzgren are incredibly map dependent and countered by vehicles, 5 man gren locked you into a doctrine.
What really closed the circle is now pzg g43 has been buffed to high heavens, yes pgren g43, which seemed like a meme concept until this patch. Don't just shake your head and think this is troll thread, try them out, now on open maps ost has incredibly mainline infantry choices so look as he picks the right mainline for the map.
Meanwhile, OKW despite being still strong, has been completely changed and play a lot like Soviets in that its very dependent on crutch OP units such as 5 man raketen blobs, fallschirm blobs, and to much lesser extent stuka and luchs on some maps.
My prediction: in upcoming tournaments running current patch, ostheer will surprise everyone by being the favored of all axis factions, and be the outperforming faction in every match up
ostheer being a fragile, high micro faction is a complete meme.

Just smoke and flank bro
this x100
dont know why people find it so hard to just use smoke, god forbid you have to do something other than blob rifles |
I was watching multiple streams during tournament and every usf game was lost except voivans games. And despite all the crying on this forum, ostheer was picked very often with great results, there were even underdog stories like bulat vs noggano. Ofc noggano lost with usf against ost.
Ostheer: 80% winrate
USF: 10% winrate
I think ostheer needs some heavy nerfs, panzergrenadiers need to be delayed and ability to skip tech structures removed. Their units got buffed to ridiculous level, there is no excuse to keep tech skipping anymore.
holy shit, you must be the only person playing the same game I'm playing for reals, baffles me people don't realise how ridiculous wehr tech skip play style is right now |
Thanks for the video it makes it easier for everybody to judge for themselves.
People obviously have different ideas of balance when someone can "estimate 30-40%" damage by an evidently self spotting point and click ability on the sturdiest of allied tanks that reversed immediately, and not detect the ridiculousness.

Sector Assault being dumb |
In my experience Sector Assault right now is kinda inconsistent.
I belivie it have something to do with angles of attack for AT Stukas. Sometimes it goes straight for your tanks, devastating them even if they reversing and sometimes they seems rather following it, shooting at the ground than hitting tank itself. Most of the time enemy managed to save his armor, however damaged at least a bit.
.
Also, as far as i know, it does 2 passes for each aircraft, but i do not know exact stats for AT-Stuka damage. Maybe someone will help me with that?
Only thing consistent is AI-strafe planes, always pinning everything inside of circle for solid 10 seconds.
The thing is, surely even if I took all square hits rare armored by the planes with my IS2 of the first loiter, it shouldn't do anything more than 50 or even 60 hp of the sturdiest allied tank in the game? Much less the second time where it did 90% of my IS2 damage while I was prepared expecting the other player to use it ready to reverse. Its annoying enough that skill planes of different varieties often 100-0 wipe infantry in this game but to do the same with such high probability to one the heaviest tanks in the game is too much.
This happened on the south VP of kholodny, with hindsight now perhaps being the edge of map meant it gives no reaction time at all. It would be fair if I stood in the circle and it killed it 100-0 over say 8-10 seconds. It didn't even seem to require any vision because the closest unit he had was a p4 by the hedgerows and by the time I reverse'd I was 1 entire sector away.

The one that's a plane loiter skill plane, it has such insane high alpha damage
I just played a game where it 60-0'd my IS2 then 90-0'd my IS2 within 4 seconds by itself while I'm hauling ass out of it with my IS2 reversing without engine damage. I assumed first time was just bad RNG combined with basically sustaining some damage, second time I was mentally prepared for him to do the same thing but it died 100-0.
How is this thing able to do so much damage in one loiter, I get its an expensive ability and if it killed a t34-76 in 4 seconds I'd be frustrated but not this baffled.
There's no time to even get out of it, is there a catch I'm missing? If there's no counter play this ridiculous ability needs to be nerfed because it's doing ridiculous damage to the tankiest allied tank just point and click. |
What the AA halftrack needs is a a vehicle target only mode, this unit would be alot better if you could do that so it can dive chase a low hp luchs/halftrack but half the time it will target a random nearby infantry making chasing ineffective. |
Needs a nerf, it used to be justified by 4 man mainlines, but now ostheer has 5 man grenadier or 6 man assault gren or 4 man pzg as mainline.
