Apparently there will be 3 German commanders from what I'm seeing and their names are kind of "coded" so to speak. The first appears to be a German General which has the closest thing to the first name in the list altho he never was in Africa apparently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ludwig_Ewald_von_Kleist The second "Rahmel" when googled for comes up as Rommel to no surprise. And finally we have the guy that organized Operation Valkyrie who also fought in Africa as well having the closest name to the third person: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claus_von_Stauffenberg Ah cmon at least Stauffenberg could have been spared the censorship In: COH3 Central

The Black Prince model is basically a normal Churchill hull with a new turret and a 17 pounder slapped on top of it while in reality it had a wider hull to accommodate a larger turret that can actually fit the gun: Regular 2 pounder Churchills: Black Prince which as you can notice, just has the different turret and gun on the same hull as I already mentioned, even the colors don't match: People however would probably be fine with it if we had other fantasy units like the King Tiger and Jagdpanther back however. I mean the Archer was also only used in 1945 so it's not really an Italian Front unit either. Sherman Jumbo for the US would be nice again if we're going for the fantasy setting and honestly I mean why not, CoH isn't really known for keeping it 1:1 historically accurate especially with some units such as the Ostwind, Panzerwerfer, Pershing and Comet to name a few more units that were featured in the previous 2 games that saw very limited service during the war as well. The Archer and the King Tiger are fine because they existed in the first place at least, during the war In: COH3 Central

Wehrmacht has battlegroups and combat commanders, which are most likely will be something simular to the hammer\anvil of UKF in CoH2. Right now in alpha its clearly unfinished and you clearly have everything thrown togeather. In other words Wehr might aswell have all inf units which they do have right now, but they all wont be buildable at the same time since they will be locked behind combat commander selection. But if those Battlegroup provide each with a different ability to all those units then how are those units gonna be limited by Battlegroup choice? In: COH3 Central

It's not variety, choosing between Panzergrenadiers or Jeager Light Infantry is variety because they are different tools for different purposes. More equal tools with the same purpose doesn't equal more choice unless you factor in a careless player that isn't interested in picking the best of the two tools As simplistic and restrictive as they were, the doctrines in COH 2 worked in creating variety because they locked you out of other meaningful options. You can't for example pick Osttruppen and get a Tiger, so it's an actual tradeoff. But if Osttruppen were always avaiable, then now everyone would be using them whenever they are meta, just to drop them after the nerf. So paradoxically "less is more" In: COH3 Central

I get that relic has an incentive to do so because they sell commanders but the players really don't. The players are incentivized to choose the most effective options, this is true in coh2 (think of consripts vs penals) and will be true even in coh3, which is why non doctrinal elite 5 men g43 squad and 4 men mg squad will not necessarily create variety but just overlapping units being switched around according to the meta In: COH3 Central

That's true for Panzergrens vs JLI sure, but not Panzergrens vs Stosstruppen and JLI vs Stosstruppen That makes for 3 stock infantry units you'll have to choose from. That doesn't count doctrinal infantry, pioneers with flamethrower,.. In: COH3 Central
Thread: CoH3 File digging17 Jul 2021, 18:25 PM The main reason I still think that the in game Wehrmacht is a mix of DAK and Wehrmacht assets is (other than 4 combat infantry squads for a single faction) the Marder 3 being there despite being logically the only tank destroyer option in the game files that could fit the DAK, while the Nashorn was only used in Italy and is not present in the current build In: COH3 Central
Thread: Company of Heroes 3 German Doctrine review17 Jul 2021, 17:48 PM That's weird to see so many stock infantry options for Wehrmacht, and honestly this is one of the cases where "less is more" truly applies. I'm also surprised by JLI and Panzergrenadiers having 5 G43 or STG as opposed to 3 or 4, and Grenadiers being able to upgrade to squads with fewer models. Logically speaking, Stoßtrupp would be in conflict with JLI/Panzergrens as role of late game infantry. I hope this design can be discussed and reconsidered when the Wehrmacht is made avaiable for testing In: COH3 Central
