Thread: Rear Echelon very weak.13 Apr 2020, 16:45 PM
Echelons are natural zook carriers. Have smoke. They are quite good in cover short range. Not pioneers but still good. Sturmpies are OP close range. Echelons, due to their cheap price, are great squad for sneaky recapture. In 3v3 I use them (until I can equip them with zooks to ambush tanks with ranger zooks) to capture territory that is not guarded. Usually 66% of the map is guarded and fought over, so big open maps are great for such a cheap squad to capture territory. Also, great smoke ability to defend against MGs and paks. In: COH2 Balance |

Well, technically he didn't. No video showing it. However, I don't think that solo panzergrens can take on pershing. Maybe if you keep moving around and it's missing pretty much every shot. In: COH2 Balance |

I agree. While heavy tanks should not be "call in-win" types of units, they should inspire fear. You have to save fuel and manpower to get them in. You have to sacrifice mediums to get heavies in and that's where you lose. However, if you managed to hold out and not lose a lot during the time you were saving, you should be able to inspire fear into blobs (right now, I only see massive blobs of infantry on every map at rank 16-18). Furthermore, the 12 CP cost is a good change. So..... .... !! You have to do damage/kill to get CP and you have to save fuel. For the damage and kills you need tanks (but you're saving fuel), and to save fuel you can't spam mediums. See where I'm going with this? Heavies should be stronger vs infantry than they are now. Pershing got effectively nullified. Tiger is weaker but still mainly used to counter veichles since axis have great infantry support vs blobs (and a big amount of great artilery). IS2 is also meh. KT is still strong. The Pershing got the biggest hit mainly because it's the least survivable one of all the heavy call ins. However, I have also seen a lot of BS plays in the recent games. My teammates letting the enemy control one side of the map (no defenses or anything) with VP and munition points and then cry when the enemy is spamming arty on them (eg. I was in the middle spawn position and my top teammate let the enemy have 2 munition points and VP on Steppes, at rank 18...). I'm not an expert and I mainly play COH2 to have fun and have good games, win or lose (even though the toxicity is sometimes high), so I'm not really "The Man" on all of this. However, I am a physicist and I believe I am not of below average IQ so I can notice the patterns. The assymetrical balance is great and all, but everything getting "more in line with" is killing the balance. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: Are the patches making this game progressively worse?12 Apr 2020, 11:14 AM
Balancing should be focused on 4v4 and 3v3. If you balance that, the ripple effect, going down to 1v1 through 2v2 is much weaker than a ripple effect of focusing balance on 1v1 and then having 4 tiger Ace's in 4v4 games. What I'm saying is, it's much easier to reogranize the tactics for 1v1, than 3v3 or 4v4. Much easier adaption going downstream, than upstream, mainly because there are lot less units on the field (eg. heavies cost a lot of pop cap so you can't have arty, Pershing, 4 rifleman, Anti Tank, etc all at the same time) I do like that the game is still being patched. However, the balance team is not exempt from criticism just because they take time to do stuff on this game. I also agree about the "band-aid" business and meta-shifting. It's a bad balance policy. I would only hope that the devs/balance team converses more through this forum or the official one. Don't know how many posts the devs read or if they read them at all. Also, there will always be bias, even in the best balance team. If the balance team has 2 main axis players and 2 main allies players, people will subconsciously try to buff their favourite units and keep the nerfs minimal. That's normal and humane, it's up to the community as a whole to propose good solutions that balance the whole spectrum out. In: COH2 Balance |

Even though I agree that Pershing is much weaker than it's supposed to be... that is a big OOF In: COH2 Balance |

Panther is also more agile and has Blitz. You can easily punish IS2 pushes with Panther. Don't know about Tigers since I haven't played them, but to me, the biggest loser heavy is Pershing currently and biggest winner KT. Pershing can't wipe or reliably damage squads anymore, whilst having 270 armour and 960 HP, higher cost (costs more, while having poor survivability). Biggest winner is KT because of it's massive armour and health. Again, call in heavies I played so far were KT and Pershing so I only speak from that experience. Played against KT, Pershing, Tiger and Churchill and I had least troubles against Pershing. Tiger was still A BIT harder to played against than Pershing. I think the heavies should have gotten a CP nerf to punish fuel hoarding and acquire them later on (where you can't just rush them to enemy base) In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: LOL why build heavy tanks anymore?11 Apr 2020, 19:52 PM
Pershing is currently the weakest heavy tank, while being expensive AF. Bafore this patch, all tanks were better at AI but Pershing was a beast against it. I played a couple of games with it, lost them all. Combined arms buff didn't help the following scenario: 3 rifleman with double bars, captain with double bars, pershing and jackson behind them vs a massive blob of shrecks and MG42s and infrareds. Shrecks bounced 0 times on Pershing and even a full blast at mid range killed 0 models and damaged two squads among a large blob to 50% hp. Keep in mind that I was the one dug in and he was rushing in. Heavies should be a lot of CP, lot of resources but great vs everything. That way if you manage to get it, that means you're saving fuel and risking playing vs mediums without any tank destroyers (which also slows down the CP acquirement). I played a couple of OKW games and when I got KT, I easily pushed through with it mainly because of the massive armour. The call in heavies need further rework. Haven't played Tiger or Churchill but I can say that Pershing is pretty useless right now and KT, even though it's no longer an infantry wiper, the armour and HP are more than enough to soak up some dmg to help with the pushes. My points: The nerfs hit some heavies harder than others, even though they were all "in line with" In: COH2 Balance |

A miracle unit effective against everything is no longer a miracle unit effective against everything. Funny, game I played yesterday in the evening, the enemy tiger almost wiped my spread out squad at medium range. People will always find something to complain about I guess. In: COH2 Bugs |
Thread: Pack Howie11 Apr 2020, 11:32 AM
I am not biased towards anything. I like OKW, I like USF, I'm ok with UKF, I hate Soviets, I'm ok with OST... and I will say this, Axis players complain more about every unit the allies have. Allies usually complain about heavy tanks and tanks in general but Axis players are asking for nerfs to pretty much every single unit USF has. Let's see major complains: 1) Pack How.: Slow movement, has to be properly positioned, good AOE and damage, behind Captain tech. How to counter? Flank/don't camp/mortar/any light veichle 2) Jackson: High range, fast, accurate tank destroyer. Counter? Maybe use infantry to scout ahead, Panther s**ts on Jackson and can easily dive it if Jackson is out of position (and don't BS with the moving accuracy on Panther, it's good enough for dives with it's HP and armour), pretty much anything that can damage tanks can counter it with it's abmyssal armour. You people also complain about rifleman, sometimes shermans (LOL), T-34/76s, T-34/85 (which has good hp, low armour and a s**t anti-tank gun, good vs infantry though). I remember seeing somebody write that T-34/85 can easily take on solo Panther and win (Don't know how many people have actually played the game and/or studied anything related to mathematics). It's preety amazing how much BS is being spilled on these forums nowadays. Stop complaining, start playing. In: COH2 Balance |

there's a a second's delay between setting up and firing Agreed. It's not instantaneous as you think it to be. In: COH2 Bugs |
