i tend to think partisans are pretty much just offmap strikes you control and cost mp. enemy has mg conviniently next to a building+ pop partisans out, kill it and steal it. enemy has light vehicle trimping away? spawn tank hunters and turn it into a toast.
But i agree i think they could use some buffs to be used more reasonably as proper ambush unit. |
coh2 is a game that is far from historical fact
Although Wirbelwind was much more productive, it did not appear in the game.(instead only ostwind appear in coh2)
The U.S. Army Air Force has done a great job, but most of the USF CAS in coh2 is poor(Poor accuracy and low damage rocket make player feel disappointed, and no one uses strafing run)
No common air bombardment skill, rather inferior to luftwaffe
I hoped to include historic aviation support skills in the new USF commander, but strumpanther created a bizarre mix-up boring commander
urban assault? Why does that matter?
he missed the most important thing
anyway back to topic,
For the Soviets who don't have a proper infiltration unit, the Airborne Guard is a not bad idea
But you have to think, "How" to differentiate from existing units
1) 6 man durable mainline infantry = USF airborne
2) a small number but elite infantry for special purpose = UKF commando, Weh stormtrooper
1&2 Mixed = falschirmjäger
3) just OP unit from vague thinking of "elite" = JLI
Don't make it 3)
ex) 3 dp 6 man infantry
want to make engineer airborne? ok but you have to think about what role it would play if it appeared in the game
infiltrate for rear disturbance? how? placing mine or demo in camo? Is it really practical in the game?
I want you to find the right and creative answer

there is diffirence in inspiring new unit form historical roots and in trying to make game realistic. Ariborne engineers as idea was former |
id rather make ez8 more accessable. issue is that its a great tank stuck in subpar commander. either it being in bit better commander or even stock unit could improve its capabilities, but i am not sure how balanceshaking making it stock would be. Id be more than happy to have atleats 1 stock tank that can take bit more damage without dying.
with kv 1, i kinda like it as well, but kv 8 does infantry killing better. Kv1 is however intended to be damagesponge like churchill. it actually has good tandem with su 85, when it sits in front of it and discourages enemy from attempting to simply dive su 85 without support |
Please provide stats to back up this claim. Riflemen scale way better than Volks and even base vet 0 Riflemen are quite a bit better than vet 0 Volks. The only problem Riflemen have in early game is Sturm support which gives OKW the edge until the first officer arrives.
volks get non tech grenade that denies cover, snare that is not locked behind vet, cheaper weapon upgrade that does not need visit in base and gives substansial dps increase without needing proper positioning (lmg rewuire being still and bars are best when getting close up to the enemy) and much cheaper mp and reinforce cost, which reduces severity of taking losses. I am not saying that volks are op, but flamenades and cheap cost do already put rifles on backfoot. |
I don't belive the tanks themselves are op. Issue with many original callin (soviet sherman, m10 etc) you could get vehicles without eveb teching which was stupid. Heavy tanks are much more manageable as ignoring teching and waiting for cps is playing your odds when enemy can field armor faster. Heavy tanks are fine as callin but most certainly no more lend lease cheese |
With usf we really should look for things the ardennes assault has. Like the hunker down ability, cache supply points, man the defenses and (i have repeated this one too much like a parrot) rifle satchel charges. |
Panthers have 960HP and die in 6 shots to the 160 damage tank destroyers. Firefly (200 dmg) kills them in 5 shots.
Jagdtiger and Elefant deal 300 damage per shot and can not two-shot medium tanks (640-800HP).
Yeah bit off, but still being able to tank even 2 vollies of at fire is quite strong. Elefant damage i forgot as it was "quite" recent. |
Also axis can as well spam panthers which can survive pretty much 3 vollies of 2 tank destroyers fireing at it and jadgtigers and elefants that can 2 shot tanks out of the reach of allies unless you arty. There is cheese equally on both sides |
Imo many of these doctrine ideas are bit too callin heavy. Having both assault engineers and rangers in the same doctrine would overlap and throwing tank in a mix would not help. I think we should have somekind of agreement how many call in units these new commanders can have. I would say 2 is good number. |
so as the urban assault tactics appereantly won on the side of usf (and for the others as well) we should start to discuss now more in depth what we would potentially have in them and improve some existing units possibly if they end up in them. I personally think at least for the urban assault tactics, it should have either rangers or calliope. Calliope just is straigth out bbad atm and while rangers are very strong with thompsons, they are incredibly onedimensional with only point getting them is the thompsons. Additional weapon upgrade could be useful for them so they would have more uses. Also i still really wish for rifle satchel charges.
As for grand offensive for okw i think it could contain panzerfussiliers so they could get some proper use outside just volks replacement at 2cp.
