just like how the Jagd and Ferdinand are no brainers? Strict AT capabilities and Jagd range, as the one side have two massive range massive Armour and the other having glass cannon Jacksons that bounce so reliably off of panthers and above is working great.
The Jagd is not a "no brainer" unit at all... There are lots of situations even in 4v4s where it should not be purchased or other doctrines would be more suitable. The Jagdtiger can't do anything with out adequate support, so you need to make good decisions regarding its usage.
As for the ISU I feel it's already a pretty powerful unit, I find it to be a huge nuisance when it's owner can micro it correctly. I don't really feel it's role needs to change; the SU-85s are already very effective, non-doctrinal tank busting units.

The support gun is not an effective answer to garrisoned MGs at all. You have to spend far too much man power to deal with a single MG and it takes far too much time. Other factions can just smoke and do what ever else is needed, OKW is literally the only team with out smoke for some absurd reason.
Also don't forget that almost comically the field gun is still bugged and often can't even shoot at garrisoned buildings at all. |
This is actually the most challenging idea. AEC is pretty much a Puma, the T70 is closer to the Luchs, and the Stuart kind of occupies both roles. WBP is going to change all their performances to levels that will be hard to predict once/if they hit live.
There was a reason vCoH had a 2cm Puma that upgraded into an AT role. The Luchs can't really do the same so it really is just a mobile AI unit. At best it could be made to 50/50 against T70s. The AEC is just designed to kill light vehicles, and the Stuart being killed by the Luchs would cripple USF captain tier and gives the Luchs incredible field presence on USF.
I think the T70 and Luchs should be rather equivalent, but this is why I think it's important for the Luchs and Puma to be together in a tier. The Puma should always beat a Stuart and 50/50 with AECs. I really don't know what the landscape of LVs are going to look like after WBP hits though.
Hey, I'm all for what you've suggested. If bringing in a weaker version of Obers earlier doesn't really work, and if a 250HT or MortarHT is too much then you have some solid suggestions.
I did like your Obers suggestions.
But for the Luchs, I don't feel it has to beat a Stuart or an AEC or T70, but as it stands those units are all anti infantry and anti light vehicle. The Luchs is the only light tank that can't do anything to other light vehicles which puts it at a big disadvantage. It doesn't need to be better than them, but it should be on par at the bery least. Probably should be reassessed after winter balance patch though. |
I'd be in favour of improving the Suxton and in exchange remove the fire in shroud component of the arty. Not needing sight is just out of line with every other ability in the game.
Being on the death end of this in 3v3+ games is painful, there is no counter to it and nothing you can do to stop them just bombing your buildings non stop. At least if they had Suxtons like Priests you have options to fight it, seems fairer for everyone.
But as it stands now, just spam munitions points and make some OKW players life a living hell when he retreats. The pain of it all... |
Probably once you stop Brits/USF from getting double death riffles the Obers will be more useful. As it stands they come out against double British hand held long range lock on laser death cannons and get murdered then take forever to reinforce. I don't think the Obers are too weak, more like other units over perform with double equip.
Obers don't need the little balance attention we have available to us, it's the other specialist units that needs working (the doctrine infantry) they all seem fairly ineffective at this time compared to Volks/SturmPio combos. |
I hate to be one of those "it's unnecessary" annoying people but this time I feel it's called for.
I play OKW extensively and I feel with just some minor balances they could be a great faction again.
- Just tone down the idiotically overpowered Comet for the British, which should balance out the Panther.
- Make the Flak Half track set up time 0, like every other team.
- Give field gun smoke shells to help clear out garisons.
- Fix the stormtropper accuracy on SturmPios with SHreks (or allow 2 upgrade like Panzer Grens).
- Balance the Panzer 2 so it's viable against Stuart/AEC/T70 like every other light tank.
And a maybe would be to improve the moving accuracy of the P4, it can't hit anything if it isn't sitting perfectly still.
That's it. I really feel it wouldn't be that complicated. God knows how Relic have taken so long to do some basic tweaks. |
I hate to say it but this game isn't even remotely balanced for team games and probably never will be.
I just don't think it's with in Relics scope. If the Command Panther doesn't make a huge impact in 1v1 it's likely to not get changed any time soon if ever.
I've tried using it though, I just have so much difficulty getting it's vet high enough. I'd love to see a good replay of one in a team game making a big difference if there is one. |
Lol that screen shot, surely that's a bug in some way?
There are some OKW units that I have difficulty seeing vet for but I don't know if it's my own fault or not.
I had a couple of vet 5 Jagdtigers in 4v4 maps before. Mic drops right there. |
The ISG shooting at buildings bug is still a thing =(
Also, I don't know if it's a bug or not maybe someone can fill me in, but I find when I have say two squads selected of the same type and I tell them to throw a grenade; one squad will move into range throw the nade and the second squad will just run up to the location when you targeted the nade... Really super annoying. I think I have seen it with Riffle and Tommys, but certainly I see it with Voks. |
I find shocks to be pretty reliable on urban maps where they can pop out from around corners or use smoke.
With OKW I generally feel that the veteran status of the Voks is the big decider. But I haven't put real research into that, it's just how I feel from engagements. |
