Thread: Panthers need adjustment19 Apr 2017, 23:54 PM Jump back to quoted post19 Apr 2017, 15:51 PMDyzfunction So what I gather from all of this discussion is: The panther is a late game high-end tank destroyer with high cost and excellent mobility. but it sucks at destroying tanks and if it's using it's high mobility it won't hit anything. I've almost completely given up on Panthers. The Jagdpanzer seems to always be a much better choice or Stugs as Ost. For me it largely depends on the map. If the map provides lots of flanking opportunities than the panther is the right choice, even despite its downfalls. Even if you don't plan to flank with it immediately you can use it as a skirmisher and fast flank the SU85s/Katushas/Caliopes (or what ever) when the opportunity comes up. However if we are talking maps with serious choke points than always prefer to stick with PAKs and or Jagdpanzers/Stugs to cover. I hope with the coming tone down of the Comet the Panther will feel not so terrible any more though. In: COH2 Balance

Unless it's a Vikers in a building, in which case it can shoot you from space, suppress you in one burst and kill a model on every burst. Thread: Advanced Emplacement Regiment discussion19 Apr 2017, 23:41 PM I think it depends on the map and game format, if it's a small map in a 2v2+ they can team up and bunker down; then for them it's just a waiting game until they can rush to Comets and wreck you because you invested in Stukas and Field guns. I hope though with the changes to Comet it will not be such a big problem. I once saw a premade 4 man team all pick this command and actually creep with mortar pits and Bofors until they were literally at our door. It was so painful to play against. In: COH2 Balance

You need to stand still to hit anything with the panther but the panther hasnt got the range or selfspotting to be a good stationary tank destroyer and thats why the panther is gargabe. Yes it has good armor and speed but it has no offensive power at all and for its cost its simply not worth it. It isn't garbage, but I do agree it isn't fitting its tank destroyer roll very well. The moving accuracy seems to be a common problem for all German tanks but when you combine it with the Panthers slow reload rate it compounds things. The panther is just under performing a little bit I think. Hopefully with the pending Comet changes it might not feel so bad. In: COH2 Balance

It's hardly free, stuff has to die. Anyway, I have said it in other topics and I will repeat; the salvage mechanic is a relic from how OKW used to be, when you had to trade resources. This also made the advance salvage attractive because there would be more balance in your sacrifice. But the stupid rework was rushed and now you have this out of place mechanic. But it doesn't seem like a serious problem to me as far as supposed OKW dominance goes. I also agree with other comments, the MG34 is a horrendous excuse for a suppression platform. Cheap maybe, but what's the point if it doesn't do much? In: COH2 Balance

If they spawned with out weapons, and were still as expensive as they are, people just wouldn't buy them. You don't want to nerf units to the point where people don't want to use them any more (R.I.P IS2). You need to make them balanced as best you can. In: COH2 Balance

The little cover shield is just displaying the majority status of the squad. You can see this when you get behind non soviet sandbags and you engage another squad at long range and the model on the end drops very quickly. He probably just didn't fit behind the sandbags at that angle. Thanks, I was aware of the cover mechanic on individual models, but not how it applied to offensive bonuses. I was wondering how lazy/rushed Relic had been developing the mechanic for the expansion. Seems not at all. Excellent. In: COH2 Balance
