Good tips, but Tommies with PIATs aren't a good idea. The out-of-cover reload penalty really hurts them and Tommies lose a not insignificant amount of AI DPS to equip a PIAT.
Especially since they lose the space for a second Bren as well. I usually put my piats on sappers, since they're so cheap and then they bet real fast so they can repair fadter |

Always get one, simple as that a vet 3 FF is no joke and it's tulips can turn engagements even against a KT.
Skip to 40:00 in this video: https://www.twitch.tv/tightropexilo/v/115545563 I dive my Comet at his KT and block its pathing whilst using the FF to pen the KT at max range mind you via its frontal armour.
Use the FF as a sniper, it needs a lot of babysitting though as its turret rotation is very slow.
I see a lot of people using it to snipe at infantry when there are no tank engagements going on, DON'T do that, not only is it ineffective, gives next to no exp it simply says "Here I am" so you can easily get caught off guard.
Build it, hide it and make sure its reveal is a surprise and you can almost guarantee a first engagement victory. Don't get it as your first tank though mind you, obviously if its 2v2+ then this 'rule' can be bent, but in 1v1's, you need at least a Cromwell out first to start bleeding your opponent and to eventually, get the block move off on tanks.
A lot of people say Churchill + FF is good and whilst the Churchill does soak a lot of damage, it gives a lot of vet, so unless you want to go against vet 3-5 tanks pretty quickly, I would avoid the Churchill route until it hopefully get an armour buff so its not so easily penetrated.
The comet compliments the FF really well and better than the Churchill currently as a result of its speed and armour, but don't expect the comet to stay as it is stat-wise for very long.
Wait so the firefly can snipe infantry? It's obviously a terrible idea because of the reload time and vulnerability, but it can semi-reliably hit enemy soldiers? |

I think I used this in like 2 games ever, and I was pretty impressed. I like to go comets for obvious reasons but I feel like in those really late game tank-spammy resource floating 4v4s I might want to throw some firelies in as well. General thoughts on firefly and on combining comets and firelies? |
I just find it annoying that it's really hard to punish tankdiving as brits. A panther or pz4 can just yolo in and yolo back out when it hits half health and unless you compound tulips (assuming you bought a firefly) and a gammon bomb (assuming you went hammer and the panzer is retarded enough to get hit by tulips), that tank's probably gonna make it out. Also, if you do get the kill in the way I described, that's like nigh on 200 muni for one tank kill on an overexposed tank. Although really I do think that the best way to do everything as brits is to use a mishmash of units. They get a lot of pretty cool abilities even if most of them did get nerfed to shit somewhere along the way from release to now, and combined arms makes up for some of the random things they lack (snares, for example).
I don't know what my opinion is on whether or not they need a snare, and I'm probably not quite good enough to say anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts. |
Yes, this is true, but not my point.
My point is that when a guards commander is chosen there is little reason to get PTRS on penals. Even if both are weakened, it's not going to affect things like the viability of Guard Motor over other commanders. (I also believe the vast majority of instances of Guards being used is in conjunction with Guard Motor. 120mm mortars and self repair t34/85s attacking marked targets are no joke.)
Yeah that doctrines really good. Probably contributes to why we see so many guards. |
+1.
Its a good suggestion cloth, but with how cheap t34's are, you would have 4 befire you have 1 Sherman.
Yeah I find that just running them over with momentum from early game into a super rushed t34 will win most games. Sometimes I can even get a t34-85 out before the first pz4 if I'm really on a roll. I usually even skip the t70 since it's not that much sooner that it hits the field. |
have you tested them? They are really worse now. Even with 2 thompsons
You get two Thompsons with that upgrade? LOL. Why even bother? Especially since some pio squad'll probably just run by and jack your vehicle. 2 thompsons... I mean, on a normal unit that would be decent, but vehicle crews die faster osttruppen. |
It depends.
1) What vet level was the m20? With the WBP, each vet level bestows massive improvements to MG DPS
2) You don't really need to close in to deal much more damage with the m20; the DPS curve is flatter now
3) M20 is a looooooot cheaper now
4) M15 now counters 222 really hard, instead of the other way around
1 & 2 are there so that a vet0 can't jump/wipe retreating squads from the get-go. This is similar to the treatment all other shock vehicles got. The philosophy here is that by requiring you to vet your vehicle before it gets to wipey-status, you are allowing your opponent to react. You can't get vet without using the vehicle, and you can't use the vehicle without showing your "cards" to the opponent.
This allows your opponent the option to play defensively, scrape some manpower up and then buy an AT gun, if that's what they wanted to do. At the same time, if they fail to counter the M20 (or other vehicles) in time (Vet3), e.g., because they got greedy, WBP vet3 M20 is a lot stronger than vet3 live M20.
Points 3 and 4 has to do with the fact that if M20 was a lot better, m20 spam would become the new meta.
Not sure if this is the place to discuss this, but I still think the 70 muni armored skirts upgraded on the m20 is silly. Is that out of scope?
Edit: by silly I mean that it should just come stock, or have a massive cost reduction. |
I belive that only brand new players play automatch vs AI
Yeah I think that's the problem. You can't be mad about new players wanting to fight AI. |
People defending land mattress
It used to come at 5cp IIRC lol |
