Thread: Weapon upgrades for standard infatry squads12 Sep 2018, 16:52 PM IMO conscripts (without the doctrinal ppsh upgrade ofc) are not really supposed to trade by themselves with other infantry, which is okay because they’re significantly cheaper to reinforce, 6 men, and have a lot of utility abilities. I think there’s a reason why they’re the only mainline infantry that gets nondoctrinal sprint for example. They’re supposed to kinda be passable infantry that can be a meatshield for support weapons or elites IMO and they’re fairly good at it. They also get pretty hard to hit with small arms at vet3 for their cost and size IIRC. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: How about separate the smoke grenade from grenade upgrade9 Sep 2018, 23:34 PM It'd be nice if smoke was free, but that would put ostheer's early game in a hole because mg's would be easily counterable too early IMO. Maybe if it was locked behind the first officer it would be a little fairer. Seems dumb to have to tech for half the perennial answer to USF's problems (smoke and flank). In: COH2 Balance

The weapon-of-choice for British Commandos was actually the Thompson, and it even appears on their insignia! The Sten was only standard issue towards the end of the war (which is when CoH2 takes place anyway), but given a choice, I bet that Commandos would still opt for the Tommy gun if available. That being said, it would be cool to see a Tommy gun upgrade on Commandos! Yeah I do recall that. Thompsons on commandos might be a little OP if it was more than like 2 though XD It just still seems like a staggering number of submachine guns seeing as most infantry used rifles anyway. I don’t have a lot of knowledge on the topic but I seem to recall that the sten was created as a cheap, easy to manufacture smg after the BEF had to retreat from France and left a ton of their weapons and equipment behind. But that’s a ludicrous amount of Thompsons in context of how many other small arms they were sent by the US, especially considering that the Thompson is fairly expensive and high quality as far as smgs go (when compared to like the grease gun, sten, or mp40). Wasn’t the sterling made in like the 50s or 60s? Could be thinking of another smg or something though. In: The Library
Thread: USF 1v1 non doc arty8 Sep 2018, 19:54 PM If you can get your major close enough, the vetted barrage might be able to kill his arty gun. It’s also just super useful in general as it’s only 60 muni and is nondoctrinal. I specified vetted because at like vet2 or something it drops some more shells for the same price. For pak spam (and general team weapon spam) the pack howitzer is super good, but then you need to go captain and have a lot of manpower. The m8 Scott can also break fortification walls but it costs fuel and isn’t quite as good as the pack howie IMO. Edit: I know you wanted nondoc, but I know for a fact that the IR pathfinders’ barrage kills lefHs really easily. In: COH2 Gameplay

It might be worth giving the cav riflemen the assault engineer models, or maybe half and half. Something to make them a bit more distinctive. Thread: Are UKF dead in 1v1?8 Sep 2018, 16:35 PM Well, matrix, you obviously don’t have enough experience to be talking about the British at all. Winning 5 games or whatever is easy at that Ollie of a rank. I could go do that right now on okw, soviets, or ostheer 4v4 and claim I know everything about their balance, but I’d be wrong. Also, if your most played faction is only level 6 then you haven’t played enough at any higher level period. It shows in your arguments and it shows in your self proclaimed game experience. (For comparison I’m ranked 114 as brits in 1v1. I’m far from being super super good but we’re on very different levels here and you don’t even have enough play time with the faction to be saying anything.) In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Commander Revamp Patch - Bug List8 Sep 2018, 04:22 AM I think this is a longstanding issue and not very important but the hotkey for mines and munitions caches are the same (M) on assault engineers. Pretty useless bug but it bugs me lol. In: Lobby
