You held back on mod support. That feature definitely made coh1 awesome to play when you get tired of the normal game play.
If you think modding ruins games ((I don't know if you do or not)) look at arma 2 with it's Day-Z mod, which increased arma 2 sales.
or maybe look at rome 1 and medieval 2 |
cant believe so many of you have missed the point ...
Anyway , his point is that coh has more depth than coh2 in general , which in turn means it was better thought out and better built , that is why he quotes tommy criticising the lack of strategy ( which for me as well is one of coh2 biggest shortcomings ) and brings up other examples which are the physics and their interaction with the environment and the attention to little details like the mangled corpses . He also makes a point about the rng which is supposed to keep things fresh as opposed to skillful use of the ingame abilities in different situations and the sweet taste that comes with that success ( for examle v1 clearing out a howie opposed to ram penetrating or not the tiger ). |
I beat it with schrecks in a 250 halftrack followed up by a PaK using assault gren doctrine (yes yes another paid commander) but the general trend is the same. Save your munitions for Schrecks, get a PaK and maybe a 2cm 222. Use this to stall for a Stug III or Pz4.
My general build to counter it would be 3-4 grens (depending on fuel control/timing) NO LMGs and NO rifle nades. Pgrens + Schrecks, halftrack, PaK and see from there. PaKs really are your best friend against this doctrine because they'll be EXTREMELY limited on infantry so you don't have to worry as much about infantry flanks. They doctrine really pushes them into mass amounts of tanks, if you force them into an infantry game from so much AT, they're destined to lose.
Every time I've seen Ivan or anyone else stream win with a very fast T-70 the opponent has been very unprepared. Any time I've won, the opponents have been very unprepared.
That being said... I haven't lost yet while playing Soviet Industry, but I also haven't lost to it while playing as Germans (to be fair I've played a lot more games with Sov Industry so far than against it though).
Try fighting this commander with mechanised doctrine and you ll find that it is a far more uphill battle , and still you said it yourself , you countered a p2w commander with another commander that is also not free so what is your point . Also about 222 siberian ownwed a vet 3 222 with a t70 and 2 or 3 t7os can easilly zerg a schreckgren andan atg |
i have faced a couple of t70 rushes with the mechanised commander , i got the gren lmg with ht call in and put a schrecked up pgren then upgraded a pio with flamer and used it as fht as well . My opponents were noobs though , i cant say what would happen if i was facing a skilled player |
i think people are forgetting that vet isnt nearly as powerful after this patch.
55mp /20 fuel for target weak spot / stun hit / blitz and smoke combo , etc etc is a trade off i d take any day |
Actually, weren't all the community maps that were implemented into vCoH done so through a such a method? Weren't there official map contests? (That I assume more or less involved the community on a broad[er] scale?)
I think yes and that is why i hope ppl will get an equal chance at presenting their maps for evaluation despite them being relativley unknown to the community . |
I made a thread a week or two ago , in that thread i suggested more or less a competition for creating commanders and even a mechanism of filtering them out to get to the best ones . With the "winning" ones being given to relic for evaluation and potential implementation , unfortunately neither the stuff or the relic devs bothered to look at it or make a comment about it which meant the proposition was burried :/ since it had no official confirmation . I hope map creation does not go down the same road |
Couldnt agree more with the OP , and budwise's suggestion which is to not buy those commander is the most appropriate reaction i ve heard in some time in response to the DLC spam .
On the fact that it is expected for the new commanders to be OP because the beta tester pool is limited i say BS . I was able to predict what would happen with both payed commanders without even playing them . I am pretty sure that the beta tester team which is far more qualified to do that than a random guy like me and has been playtesting this for weeks had no problem picking up on that .
I thought people would have figured by now the policy that is being followed with the payed DLC , first they buff some of this stuff massively then when they get the money they tone it down . And it does sound like marching orders from Sega tbh .
By the way Relic and sega i d much rather pay a monthly / weekly subscription or some time fees , or completely separating the single player and multi player packages allowing me to invest more money where i wish and have the full game available to me when i wish rather than this abhorent buisness model which breaks the game in tiny parts to the dismay of all since it is less balanced and enjoyable and i end up having to pay the game 2 times instead of one ! Not to mention that almost all the cool commander abilities and units i have to pay to obtain them . Which isa the reason i have bought NONE OF the payed DLC
Another thing that most ppl fail to observe is that the more commanders one has the more strategical flexibility he has which is the reason PPL IN snf have all the same choices so i guess the game is P2W even though it is in a game breaking level for a very small ammount of time ( 1st or 2nd day after the dlc is available and the vast majority of purchase is going on )and the rest of time its a small advantage ( in high levels of play cause in lower ones assgrens its a lot more prevalent ) . |
You dont need to vet your infantry , if you are your doing it wrong . The proper way to play the commander is to give your p4 or stoog their special abilities and once they have accumulated some vet use the ability once again to get them to vet 2 as for the Swiger the only way to stop it is with mines and possibly ram everything will just bounce off . |
Did you just say soviet at guns do the same damage as paks, because that's just not true. Paks fire significantly faster.
not dps damage , damage per shot , which is the main concern since atgs kill tanks which are somewhat slowed and soviets have an advantage on that because of oorah , so dps plays a secontary role , esp since criticals happen when vehicles are at low hp and it takes 2 hits to get to that . Furthermore the reload of pak40 is 2/3 that of the zis . |
