And as already stated, it's 'free'. With support of volks blob and ISGs, it's also extremely resilient. It also doesn't take any flame damage like emplacements do.
If i could build T4 OST building or SOV building on a rear cutoff point that has almost 2000 HP, suppresses, damages tanks, shoots down aircraft, at 0 pop cost, and comes along with teching, I would. It's expensive because T4 is expensive just like EVERY OTHER FAcTION! If you lost your T4 building of SOV or OST, it would cost that much to build it again. The cost you're paying for is part of teching, not the building/unit itself.
And guess what, Bofors is 4 times as free as the Flak HQ! |

As already stated, you can place that truck in your base and no atgun will touch it. But you know, you will be able to produce same units from it that if you place covering a VP and/or a fuel point....

The only thing that makes zooks look too strong is that they can be double equipped.
If two volks fire one shreck at a tank, or one volks fires two, is irrelevant when it comes to overall damage dealt, but we can all think of who would be seen as the more op one. |
OKW used to have self-spotting Kubel which could suppress/pin enemy squads really quickly. This was basically uncounterable vs the USF, if the area didn't contain enough garrisons USF could abuse (OKW didn't have incediary nade either). The Kubel thing ran its time from release until rework.
Upon release Kubel didn't have suppression iirc. At release Kubel was I think the most useless vehicle there ever was in the game. It did nothing, cost fuel and it lost to any other unit in the game. I think even USF medics would beat it.
Then it went to suppression platform that would win against any other inf unit in the game, and was pretty mcuh the first unit in everyones build order.

1 Mortar Halftrack (240 manpower, 30 fuel? More Mobility)
Panzerwerfer (300 Manpower, 85 fuel?, more Mobility)
Walking Stuka (300 manpower, 100 Fuel?, more mobility)
Any type of fire damage (Between 30 munitions and the flame hezter)
2 Support Guns (~600 Manpower, some mobility)
Jagdtiger (Overkill but long range, but 700 Manpower, 280 Fuel?, can also kill tanks)
Many Off map arty/abilities (Various costs in munitions)
That is alot of counters, and I bet there's more.

The tiger has 75 less armour, .3 less speed and lower ac/deceleration than the IS 2. |
Really this topic again do we have to list the million counters/strategies again on how emplacements can be destroyed.
Everything in the game can be destroyed, countered etc.
Doesn't mean it's feasible or balanced.

The changes proposed to the Sturmofficer will not make a difference. I mean, removing the retreat thing might be a cool quality of life change, but in the end this unit will not rise from the tales of never-used
