Bug or ninja change.
It was a ninja change, or almost ninja. I think it was changed in the same patch that changed some of the abilities. The strange thing is that I read about the nerf somewhere but can't find it in the official patch notes. The nerf was intentional. You can still find videos of the old one on Youtube (killing Tigers, wiping multiple squads, etc).
Because of the huge AOE, it used to wipe up to about 3 squads with the bomblets. It was batshit OP but was the only reason to pick the doctrine originally. The damage was nerfed so that it wouldn't wipe squads, but also made it terribly weak against armor. The profile might have been matched to the Ost frag bombing but the bomblets are spread out enough that it doesn't wipe like the frag bombing run does. It also seems to arrive about 1-2 seconds slower which is a significant difference. |
I think Party Cover with Comet spam was more annoying and stronger. You could also dealt with Sim city but it was completely cancer and tedious as it would take a long time.
March deployment was mostly a 1v1 issue. And i'll consider OH release with skill planes, Opel Blitz and bulletins MG42 way more cancer.
Top 10 worst moments:
- Tiger Ace + Windustry
- OKW release for teamgames and USF release for 1v1
- PArty Cover, UKF release on teamgames and CalliOP
- ISG and Pak Howie with suppression
- JT and Fortifications into KT meta. And in 1v1 Rifle company
- Elephant vs ISU meta
- March deployment
- Game release
- Original maxim spam, double sniper and clowncar sniper
- Plenty of short lived patches. Double damage Katyusha/PW. Release week of Assault Grens + Prostruppen. Terminator Partisans. Skillplanes of any sort. CAS meta. KV8 meta. Call in stall meta. B4 meta.
How did the UKF on release not make your list, specifically the Crocodile? I stopped playing OKW 1v1's for awhile, largely due to that one unit. |
the camoflage makes the SU85 even more immobile...
I've tried using the camo on the SU85. IIRC, it affect rotation speed so unless your enemy dives into the normal arc, you won't be able to fire unless you exit camo. Usually by then, the SU85 is flanked and probably lost. It makes the SU85 much more vulnerable.
PTRS cons are much worse than 7-man cons. You can't make more than one or sometimes two without having infantry problems. The exclusivity with mobilize reserves is not a bug, but it should be looked at. A 7-man PTRS squad would still be bad against infantry and bad against anything heavier than a P4 but they would be a lot more surviveable.
A B4 would suck. I'd much rather have something like a "command" T34/85 with mark target and maybe a cooldwon aura. It wouldn't be the equivalent of a command Panther so I would make the limit be two of them instead of the normal one. |
While it would not hurt, I think that this is probably not worth the effort of implementation. If you don't want a unit anymore, just sacrifice it. Your opponent gets a bit of vet out of it, but that's just the way it is, and better than all the bugs that could be caused.
It's just such a rare issue with other potential "fixes" already available.
Yes, but think of all the Maxims you could withdraw when playing as Ost. |
I'm using even better system, its called "do NOT play RT for any other reason then to remind yourself why you should NOT play RT".
This is the best one for your sanity. It seems like your odds of getting a good game go down exponentially with the number of players. |
The proof is in the pudding.
This month steam user reviews is up to 89% positive.

The 1v1 tournament had a lot of 3-0 matches, meaning that each match was more about the players than the factions. |
What kind of category do you belong to? Troll or rank 1000+ axis-only player?
Being a 1000+ player when playing Ost, I'm pretty sure he's more of a 6000+ player. The axis-only is spot on. |
Rifleman blobs are FAR too op right now. Rifleman historically and in game should not have a chance against veteran volksgrenadier squad
This is somewhat amusing given that the USF and friends took back France faster from the Germans than the Germans took it from the French.
They took most of France in less than 4 weeks following the Normandy breakout. They did it by blobbing Riflemen and 75mm Shermans.

I’m actually shocked that no one else is going for airborne. Your infantry is just so much better especially against Wehrmacht where your conscripts basically beats grens in all situations and guards in cover just shred everything, you can even go T-34-76 spam and still be able to kill heavy armor with ram+ IL-2, you can even have a ppsh squad in the scout car at one cp!
Oops did i just start a new meta...
Nope...
Airborne is an all or nothing strategy. You need to win in the early/mid game. If you don't, then forget having any advanced medium or heavy tanks. At the level of the remaining players, there are going to be few 10 minute wins so most players are going to pick something with an IS2 in it, with a smaller group of people going with a commander with one of the KV series tanks or T34/85's.
Also, ram plus IL-2 isn't reliable enough that people would want to bet a game on it with $10,000 at stake. It's a lot harder to use it successfully against good players than mediocre or bad ones, and everyone still in the tournament is good. |
The aoe isn't it's ONLY advantage, it also comes with more range, the barrage is great and it's available regardless of tech in a faction that heavily disuades using the tier that has access to the normal mortar.
270mp would be absolutely too cheap for the 120mm and comparing it to the leig is extremely poor given the 2 units are on opposite sides of the AoE spectrum.
You're trying really hard to sell it as a good unit, which it isn't. I compared it to the LEIG because its ranges are the same as the LEIG. The autofire range is 80, the same as every other mortar. The barrage range is 100. It fires every 14-15 seconds instead of every 10.
The smaller AOE of the LEIG is more than compensated by its accuracy. I don't know the exact fire rate but it seems about the same as a regular mortar. I get one or two of them in most matches and always get more out of them than I do from a 120. If they're worth 270/7 then the most that a 120 would be worth is 270/7. |
