So if you take the games where both players won a game (so as to ignore matchups that might have been determined purely by skill gap), the win rates for factions are, assuming I didn't enter anything wrong:
Ost OKW Soviets USF Brits Count 15 37 17 25 10 Wins: 10 25 3 11 3 Losses: 5 12 14 14 7 Win % 66,7% 67,6% 17,6% 44,0% 30,0%
Soviets looking pretty good there. Brits not too shabby either.
Korean army doubled the Soviet winrate by wining all four of his matches including both as Soviets, at least until your sorting method is applied. Then Soviets back to being on life support. |
Maybe it would be balanced, but it would be incredibly boring. Asymetry is one of the best things about coh2, mirror matches would make coh a terrible game.
It wouldn't be boring. I'm not suggesting making all of the units the same. Each game (particularly 1v1's) would start with infantry. From there, the player could choose team weapons or light vehicles (basic armored cars or half tracks). Light vehicles would give an advantage in mobility but would delay T3, so the decision would have to be a tactical one. It would certainly have more depth than four rifles into Captain every game. |
Look like brits and soviets won´t deal problems anymore. Now you can finally see that whole allied side was winning games only because of their cheese and they are actually badly designed and stand no chance against better designed axis factions once you remove their cheese.
COH2 would've been better if all factions were designed with T0 having infantry, T1 & T2 being team weapons or light vehicles, T3 for regular vehicles (P4, Cromwell, Sherman) and T4 for advanced. Trying to make 4 equal to 3 across multiple factions is a recipe for what we have right now.
If penal flamers were still around, Soviet win rates would have looked like the Ost win rates. |
You want grens at t0? They are the weakest mainline infantry after cons. Noo thanks I'll keep my t0 mg42.
Then fix grens, instead of some genius idea like giving USF a T0 mortar....... |
i wasn't speaking only about steel division, i don't remember the name exactly but i think it's "sudden strike 4" which is quite close from COH2.
but yeah, steel division is way less arcade than coh2 but it get much more funnier when you begin to understand all the mechanics + micro needed to win.
it just reward more the experience and knownledge on units (like you said, a sherman armor is not that good so you got to deal with that. on the other hand, their price is lower so you can buy 2 of them to attack a single german panther).
Thx, I'll look for Sudden Strike also. Most of my friends already moved on to Steel Divisions, I'll probably play both.
I think COH would've been much better if they followed the Soviet model for all factions, but with a few minor tweaks. T0 = engineers, basic infantry, (maybe snipers and scout cars to counter), T1 = team weapons, T2 = light vehicles, T3 = basic tanks, TD's etc (requires T1 or T2), T4 = advanced armor - After that, use commanders so that players could adapt to game size and map. Had Relic done this, balance would've been much easier to do across all game sizes. |
Yeah allies OP as fuck and Axis super UP KAPPA
Irony off:
A) because of the WBP, you see it allready in automatch search: 70-80% axis in 1vs1 to 4vs4. And now with the GCS Mod as well.
B) Also its about the 4 maps. They are quite good for axis. Maps are an important part in Balancing and how axis vs allies is!
When sorted by maps with the same data excluded, matches where one player won both matches, the one map that stood out was Crossing in the Woods. It should have been excluded from the pool.
Disclaimer: I didn't bother updating in the last two days, but quick scan looks like nothing unchanged. |
From 2v2 perspective Mechanized isn't the best commander but i guess it's worth to have in your load out. A.Soldier already meansioned his advantages so i won't repeat him.
His biggest disadvantages is that you lack of counters to certain cheese strats that are common on 2v2 mode. You have to remember that if you pick commander too early you may get really punished in late game. B4s, ML-20, priests, medium tank spam, ISUs that sorf of strats can be really deadly for you. Therefore you should also have: lighting war (Tiger with stuka AT strafe) and elefant commander (with stuka bomb) with you.
Of course if your teammate has counters to that strats you have more space with choosing the commander. When you play randoms it's better to be prepared that this job will be on your shoulders.
Generally speaking most meta commanders from 1v1 aren't so usefull in 2v2 mod.
But i think the best way will be if you to play few games and decide if it's worth using.
To OP - Stark on of the best 2v2 players. Mech assault is probably the most used 1v1 by players in the GCS, but probably wouldn't be on most peoples 2v2 loadouts.
It'd be really nice if they had the 2v2 equivalent of the GCS and made posting the replays mandatory. I've been watching a lot of the 1v1's and realizing that my opening is different from what I see of theirs and that probably has a lot to do with why I'm about 300 levels worse. |
cons in t0 vs MG in t0 is a crucial and unique feature in this game which is vital for its fun with asymmetric balance
if you had spent more time playing than posting maybe you would understand that
Not really. Game isn't balanced, symmetrically or asymmetrically. If every faction started with engineer, basic infantry, and possibly sniper or scout car, then it would be much easier to balance instead of the kluge of adding T0 weapon teams. |
#SCOPE
balance mod maker would have done much more to fix RELIC game if they had the opportunity, sadly they were limited to a few "completely broken" units like penals without having the possibility to buff the less but still broken units like conscripts.
blame relic for fcking up their last opportunity to fix the whole game once for all, because with the new WWII RTS coming out this year coh2 is pretty much fcked.
Ultimately, COH2 is Relic's game and the state of balance or imbalance is owned by them. It did seem like the balance team had a pro-axis bias but even that would be Relic's mistake since they chose the balance team.
I have been playing Steel Division. It plays more like a simulation than an arcade. It's a lot like Men Of War. I don't think a lot of the people that play COH2 are going to make the switch and stay there. Tanks don't have hit points. Practically every anti-tank gun will kill a Sherman in one shot. Panthers have good frontal armor but if you try charging with one, you'll discover that they have bad side armor and can be killed in one shot from the side. |
Here is something else to remember, Anvil also grants access to air-burst shells. This can hold a huge impact against weapon teams.
Air-burst is vastly under-utilized cheese, but will stay that way only until Comets and arty cover get nerfed into uselessness. |
