tactical map
I used tactical map more than j look at regular screen, the issue is when I get lots and lots of armor and infantry together. I would only play in tactical map except sometimes you need to issue special orders to units and make sure your infantry grab cover instead of standing in middle of a road for instance |
Glad it's sarcasm because I want to use Brumbar more because it's a cool unit and is the ultimate punishment for blabbers who deserve every bit of malice I can summon. But if I am going to go to tear for and spend all that fuel, I pretty much have to get a panther and that is so expensive that getting the two of them together while also getting some form of stopgap armor, such as a stug is just about impossible unless I'm already dominating. In fact the last time I remember getting a brumbar, it was in a game where we were handily in control and I was floating fuell. It performed a great but I don't ever remember a game where it helped me come back and win a tight one |
They should add fuel but the reality is the ace isn't as great as people think. Try playing sigh it a few times and see if it's instant win. It's not and I haven't kept it in my roster for quite some time. The Ace is slow, it's turret is slow in rotating. It comes super late so using your commander's superior help that came much earlier you should have the advantage in resources, armor and AT. Lay mines down along major paths so when it comes if you aren't in a position to take it down you can make a soft retreat back through mines. If mines don't work, remember the TA is slow so just hold the VP's where he isn't and you have 2 of 3. Finally while TA is out, kill infantry at every opportunity as the MP reinforcement cost with the Ace drain will cripple his supporting troops. |
So I have really started to get better at unit preservation and micro to the point that in a recent 1v1 as Wehr vs USA I kept all 4 grenadiers alive, 2 ost, 2 Pumas, a 222, two pak, PG, command tank and an mg. my only casualties were an HMG and a half track. My strategy is this; I have 6 programmable buttons on mouse. 6-9 are my top control groups 6 is a sniper or light vehicle (later my most valuable tank if I no longer have either of the former), 7 is my first MG or light vehicle if I have both sniper and light vehicle. 8 is my MG and 9 is my special infantry (usually PG but sometimes assault gren). I divide all my line infantry equally between ctrl groups 1 and 2 and use my left hand to manage 1-5 ctrl group. 3 is all my AT guns and 4 is mortars and artillery. 5 is all my engineer units that way I can always select all available repair men and tell them to go to damaged armor. This worked really well in the aforementioned game but once my command tank hit the field I was so stressed with my micro as I was having to put all my pumas in one group, I had no group left for my MG, I had tons of inf but they were all over the map so I didn't feel I had much control over them. With so many infantry and armor I couldn't manage tactical retreats with any units lest I lose them in the commotion (I used to try tactical pull backs when I had lots of units with mediocre results). Now whenever I see one of my armor units get below 50% health I immediately hit reverse command and click my base on the mini map so I won't lose them. The exception is if I happen to be already on them when it happens in which case I will try to do a tactical maneuver if I think I can eliminate the threat first.
Is this the best method when good unit preservation leads to tons of units late game? I find when I start grouping armor in pairs it causes issues with pathing when trying to flank in narrow places. This can spell doom for my pumas and also stugs with no turret. Also what is best with infantry when they start to number 5+ groups? I play primarily as SU, Wehr and UKF.
Sorry for long post, really trying to take my game to the next level and I think this is my most inconsistent area. |
you can always download the coh2 tools in steam and look at the stats there.
Is it updated every patch?? |
Small hints:
- try to shoot on targets that are closer (due scatter)
- have vision on the target
B4 is also not the best unit to take structures down, and more of an insane RNG wipe machine. Bulletins will barely affect this.
So I can't remember how many times I had vision on target but I know a couple times I called in my recon run because it's long been coded into COH since vCOH that indirect fire is more accurate when the area being fired into is not in fog of war. A couple times I even rushed shocks or my T-70 over just to get LOS. Probably 50/50 I had LOS while firing on it.
If I build a lot closer I am one strong enemy push from seeing my lovely B4 wiped out and potentially being used against me. Just how close should I go? |
I have duplicate bulletins to reduce scatter by 3% on B4 would using that twice even have an appreciable effect on the scatter? |
Interesting test. I guess I need to start merging onto my guards again |
I can't upload this replay from 1 week ago because of the patch but I was playing with a friend as the SU (he was USF) vs OKW/Wehr on Moscow Summer Map. I went counterattack because of the shot blockers and flank routes would be good for my shock troopers, they removed the nasty cool down on "for Mother Russia" so it is now a nice boost to use for pushing or repelling pushes since I tend to float some muni's with this commander, recon runs are really nice, KV-1 still just a shot absorber but not worthless and of course the lovely B-4 which I knew would be able to reach their base from my main road outside my base based upon the shape of the map. The team was newbies so my friend and I screwed around some. I built 2 B-4's right outside the fence line on the main road of our base (South spawn) after they set their Med truck just north of the Eastern VP. I attempted a grand total of 15 shellings on their freaking med truck and scored just 1 hit on the actual truck and 1 more that was close enough to do a wee bit of damage and nothing more. I understand the precision shot was insane on the B-4 and as someone who likes balance and also plays Wehr a lot I don't want that to return....but the scatter for a single shot howitzer is insane....I was almost at max range but come on....a <10% success rate on such a large static target is unacceptable....
Thoughts on this commander and advice on how I can get it to Vet 1 other than just targeting blobs?
Thanks. |
I played 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
I think need improve in all. I read many of the tips but I think that something would help me is to play with someone and mark me the errors.
I know it's boring and exhausting but if someone loves teaching that would be great.
I have been playing a few years now and I recently got a friend to start playing COH2 with me and I have been helping him learn by playing with him 1v1 and giving him different situations to practice against (e.g. I will have him put an MG in a building and show him how to attack it from multiple angles or use smoke). I like to help people get into this game as it is my favorite RTS of all time so if you want I can post my steam name and you can add me. |
