Base howitzer should be much more accurate, the shells often land outside the radius. Perimeter Overwatch is pretty useless. Very inaccurate, and the howitzer are very slow to react and fire.
Sexton should be as good, or almost as good as Priest.
base howitzers are so bad that I called them in on that rail road building sitting above the rail on Lienne Forest 2x and not one shell hit the building. It's better to actually fire away from your target and hope that one of the scattered shots will get lucky and hit what you want....safest place to be is right on top of the flares currently. |
i agree, but on the other hand i hate artillery at all
i hate artillery camp fests as much as anyone but artillery was an integral part of the battlefield and should be in the game. It also is absolutely necessary for when a player camps you with MG/ATG wall. Without indirect fire, support weapons would be way too dominant. The important thing is that there is counter-play available so that means you can't have laser like accuracy/too large AOE/etc but artillery needs to be relevant both for thematic game play, fun but also for varied tactics. |
Can someone explain how this works? in a 4v4 AT game last week, we had won every game that night and then in a long slog game where one of our players was AFK for a few minutes at the start we managed to right the ship with 50 VP left to 200 VP for our opponent. Our left flank had a decisive engagement destroying most the british armor and right after that my barrage in center destroyed their 75mm howitzers + ambulance and scott and a couple seconds later we all got a sync error followed immediately by a defeat screen and then bug splat. There was no game text indicating anyone dropped either. I went to the ladder and it shows 0 disputes for our team (if this had been a normal dropping by the host shouldn't the game be a dispute?). My allies said this means it was an intentional drop by our opponents. The timing seems fishy being as it happened after we decisively turned the tide.
Because of crash I can't access replay but I did go to recently played list in Steam and wrote down the names of the opponents. With that, can Relic look into the game if I give them the approximate time? Any advice for what I should do if this happens again as well as how I can differentiate between a bug and a player caused crash. |
We need to keep pounding this into Relic's head until they respond. They have done a good job with responding to a lot of Cruzz's bugs with this latest patch so they clearly are paying some attention. Hopefully we can get the posters here with the biggest profile to help us out. |

I don't want emplacements to go away since it is very thematic for Brits and it can be done right by the correct mix of pop cap usage plus cost/performance. High enough pop cap means you can't spam emplacements but they also need to be durable enough that it takes specialized attacks to destroy them (off map, incendiary barrage, on map heavy artillery/flame grenades, etc). Currently they are so weak I only build them if I go Royal Engineers as they get the stand fast ability which with Brace can survive a medium level assault.
Also, they need to be weak enough to not be able to be put at front lines and creep forward but not so weak that they fall to one incendiary grenade plus a couple schreck shots just because 1 volks got behind your lines for a few seconds.
this is hard to do but it can be done. |
Make stock versions of the 2 half tracks better at killing infantry so they aren't glorified reinforcement points. Right now if you upgrade them they can get veterancy but then you lose out on the veterancy benefits as increased reinforcement range is worthless to you. |

RNG is important because otherwise there is low risk if you always know that an AT gun will keep getting closer and closer to penetrating a tank the more shots you take. You could mess with the code to make the RNG distribution smaller and have smaller std of deviation but that is about all that I would be interested in seeing. |
I for one would love this as it would help make it easier to do mechanized flanks and deep raids into enemy territory. i like how easy it is to get units out but as others have stated, it takes so long to get units into the HT and you can't afford to linger on screen waiting for it to happen as you have to micro elsewhere which leads to inefficiency of your forces. |
People bitch about stukas destroying howitzers, but everyone tries to defend carpet bombing decimating entire areas and tech structures. #balanced ##notbiased #hawt
