What exactly does the passive vet 1 do now?
I can imagine some nice 251 + PGren strats right now with the aura + reinforcement. Replace with a command P4 later and you have quite a decent force. |
The biggest flaw of the Ober StG44 upgrade is that if you lose a model you lose a quarter of your firepower compared to keepin most of your firepower when having the MG34 equipped. That being said I hardly use the StG44 on Obers.
That being said: Sully is completely right that having to expose your Ober StG44 squad to enemy fire since the range is shorter than on the MG34, really impacts the utility of the upgrade. |
The whole skill is not needed imo. It is often better to retreat a low hp squad and save the ammo (I don't even know the cost of the med kit since I never used it) for the MG42s or Tellermines. Ostheer is too ammunition-starved to have me use it. |
I guess that would be the first time I had a vet 5 Command-Panther that actually fights for a while.
Tigers, Jacksons, Pershings. Infantry hordes. An hour long slugout.
Skilled play on all sides. |
The StuG nerf has hit Ost lategame harder than some people like to admit. I think the StuG should get a slight buff aswell (even if the cost has to be increased). Churchills and even KV1s hugely profited from the StuG rate of fire nerf. As a result the Churchill and KV1 are incredibly hard to kill.
If you don't want to bring back the rate of fire on the StuG at least give it some decent frontal armor to withstand churchill and medium tank shots. The StuG has less range to dodge shots compared to other TDs. |
It's Ostheer that's underperforming in every stage of the game.
Fragile infantry (Grens) that can't compete with BARS and Brens.
Lackluster "elite" infantry (PGs) that can't compete with Bars and Brens.
Inferior midgame (T70, Stuart, AEC leave you on the back foot).
And a lategame that is mediocre at best and absolutely inferior to Brits (Tiger, Ostwind < Churchill, Centaur). Aka no reward for holding out that long. It's characteristic, that Brummbär, Elefant got significant nerfs while multiple Allied lategame units got buffs/ stayed the same. Ost lategame was neutered for no compensation.
And before I hear the "l2p" posts, I'm playing this game and it's predecessor for more than a decade now. I know what I'm doing.

Didn't they nerf it in one of the latest patched despite nbody using it?
The biggest problems with hull down currently can be summed up as follows:
- You still get outranged by tds (not sure about a hulled down Panther)
- It takes too long to move out of the hull down position
- You need Pios to "build" the hulldown
- StuGs can't rotate while being hulled down.
Imo the ability would be attractive if the vehicle could hull down all by itself (like the Coh1 ability) and instantly move out of hull down. StuGs should be able to rotate (not sure whether this can be animated).

I honestly haven't seen a single Easy 8 since patch release. I can't comment on it but still that's a pretty big hint the thing isn't OP. |
The only issue I have with the "Elefant" is that the Ele was nerfed in its performance while the ISU-152 is allowed to wreak havoc against infantry and vehicles alike. |
Mirror balancing is bad imo.
I think StuG should remain at 50 range but compensate with better frontal armor. Currently the armor is so weak that even at vet 2 it is hard to bounce shots with the StuG even when regular mediums shoot at it.
Also the Jackson is currently at 55 range iirc. |
