firing from fog of war vs firing from rifle range. need I say more?
yes it has the crappy abandon thing, and forever to reload. but if you know what you're doing it's nearly impossible to counter. it even one shots medium tanks, which is mostly what allies have.
the avre is really good too in the right hands, but its much harder to be as effective because of its significantly shorter range and the fact it can not kill things that are supposed to counter it(excluding at guns; assault weapons counter at guns)
they both seem odd for this game as they obliterate anything in their path with little counter play. It is, however, easier to run away from AVRE as you see it before it fires unless its lobbing the dust bin over a sight blocker. sturmtiger rounds passing through world objects is necessary as, previously, hitting a change in elevation triggered the round, making it far less useful. it is a crappy fix, but I cant think of a better solution.

tone down the dps on allied lmgs so that with 2 they are like 1.4ish the dps of lmg42. it seems reasonable that squads which cost more, and have more munitions in equipment outperform those with less cost and less upgrades. I think the issue here is that grens and pgrens just aren't awesome. pgrens are too late to spawn so they seem squishy, if they came out at t0 theyd be op according to what relic has said of their stats. but if you can get them to vet 3 and don't put shreks on them they become world killers.
I don't like the limit lmg thing. it will make heavy sappers the only unit capable of having 2 lmgs. is that what you want? super Welshman? |
properly supported an elefant is a fearsome thing to behold. it's my favorite unit as ostheer. most people just get too greedy with it, and get it killed. That said, a committed team effort on the allies side can take it down. If it is in good position then the allies will pay dearly, but they can take it down.
vet 3 elefant is a god. twp + that rof is obscene. I think ive only ever had 2-3 though. it was nice when it one shot stuarts. I usually get a p4 or two, a pak40, and pgrens with shreks, and then bring in the ele. I've found panthers can work VERY well with the ele but you will lack ai(not that p4s are that much better at ai). I always use the pak and the pgrens to support the ele. get a 222 to vet 2 with scopes and have it near the ele and profit. It's definitely situational and only team games. Just make sure any kind of bum rush will pay dearly and drop riegle mines on your flanks(best mine in game imo). remember to use twp on your pak and ele and it'll take out far more than its cost if they commit to killing it. |
I think to argue that okw flak base is completely fine is a bit... not naïve, not necessarily biased, but not quite right. I am a big team game scrub. If I'm playing against 2 or more okw I know that any recon planes I call in will be lucky to get eyes on that lefh we're trying to get with an offmap, or any other scenario. If they have ostwinds or flak halfies, ok. My planes got shot down by units they had to specifically buy. That's fine. If they are pounding me with planes, or I get sick of them knowing everything I do due to all the recon planes I have to buy an AA unit too. But because okw teched up, I cant recon their side of the map effectively if at all. doesn't seem quite right. That is my issue.
btw I never play okw. im biased. I do play lots of Wehrmacht. |
im not sold. the only issue I have with this is that USF has to carry a lot of dead weight in pop cap from major/ambo/officers. I usually cant field 4 armored units late game without sacrificing a unit or parking the capt with one model in the base on production mode or something of the sort.
True enough you can manipulate pop cap with usf by bailing out of vehicles, but with calliopes you can not, and leaving Jackson crews standing around is risky to try to reinforce your infantry after a battle. I don't think any of the other factions have issues with pop cap unless things have been going very well for you. Personally I generally do not.
I don't disagree that the calliope performs at the level of a priest as opposed to a katyusha, but I do think there is a bit more to consider with pop costs. |
RAWR. The Angry Bears like new pack members and we play lots of games. we have some pretty competitive members and a lot of pretty darn good members. talk to napalm or somenbjorn.

I only use it if the enemy squad is firing at another squad. i.e.; rifle+RE vs sturm. if it looks like the rifle will lose and the re's are close enough for the ability to be useful, i'll pop volley. worst case he switches to shooting the re's giving the rifles more chance to do damage.
I have used it and gotten 2 squads suppressed a few times in a scenario similar to what ive described, just with more enemies. using it against a small blob makes suppression ramp up quickly.
just be super careful if/when they start shooting at the RE's |
t0 pgrens.
