Hey Turbo,
Here's another one I played this afternoon as OKW that shows similar weaknesses from the previous replay as well as some more focused concerns I have.

Thread: For Turbo - 2v2 Commrade_General as OKW10 Sep 2015, 20:52 PM
2v2 on Ettlebruck Pretty interesting loss. Started out strong making short work of their fortifications and buildings with MGs in them. Tried to mine as much as I could expecting various armor to show up before I had any. By mid-game, I had obtained a PIV in attempt to fight off their Centaur. But what ended up killing me most was their crocodile. As most of my AT was infantry, it would make short work of them. I definitely went the wrong commander and should have probably gone with fortifications doctrine to get the Pak43. I definitely was late to get out armor but this was a case where I didn't know how to get fuel fast enough. Although, I think I definitely wasted resources on a luchs as it only helped briefly and was definitely not worth the initial investment. However, I thought it was as they were blobbing infantry after a certain point. The final nail-in-the-coffin was losing my schwer base as it was building a panther. After this, I really had no strong counter to their heavy armor. Ended up getting the JPIV, but by that point they had too much momentum and I was just bleeding manpower to the centaur. I think a big thing I want to take away from this match is what to do with out-matched units. For instance, after their centaurs were going heavy at my luchs and infantry, I really didn't know what to do with the luchs. I ended up carelessly throwing it forward and losing it. But I really wish I would have known how to harass better or what else I could have done with the unit. Additionally, knowing when to choose between PIV and Panther in this game I think could have made a big difference. Although the PIV helped with infantry, their armor was giving me too much trouble. But I don't know how to make that kind of call. Is it just a really good educated guess? Thanks, Commrade_General In: Replays |

Thread: For Turbo - Commrade_General as UKF in 2v29 Sep 2015, 20:16 PM
2v2 on Dusseldorf Pretty terrible game on my behalf. Started out very poorly, as I wanted to get a hold of the church in the middle with an mg but failed. Tried re-positioning the mg multiple times but couldn't get it setup where I actually wanted to. I ended up not getting hold of my side of map as a result. Mid-game rolled around and I had nothing to show for it. I built an AT-gun to try and prep. Started to lay down some mines too. Ended up fielding a cromwell but lost it very shortly due to poor map awareness. At the point when I lost my cromwell, I was very concerned because I didn't know how to counter their amassed infantry. I had already lost a mortar emplacement and I didn't want to bother laying down a bofors that would end up getting destroyed as well. I thought about building a centaur but figured that wouldn't be useful when it came to dealing with their armor. I honestly didn't know what do. So, naturally, I called in a Sexton in attempt to start barraging their bases. I could rarely fire a full barrage though as I would have to retreat it when they came hunting for it. I needed to try and get 1 of the 2 points they had locked down. I attempted for the most western point as it only had one Schwer Panzer base guarding it. I knew I would need some help taking it down and didn't have enough armor to do anything, so I just called in the best that I could which was the valentine. As soon as I started to cap the ammo point before the VP, i got hit with a p4 and some infantry. Didn't do well in that engagement either. Basically, at this point, i knew the game was over. I didn't have anything to counter their armor that well. As they tended to blob their infantry, my infantry grenades and gammon bombs seemed to be doing ok at this point. I built a forward command base and upgraded it with the retreat point to have it shortly destroyed afterwards by an mg. That was pretty embarrassing. The final moments were just a mad dash of trying to move units around in attempt to get one of the 2 vps they had. I carelessly lost my sextons and just floundered after that point :/ Things I want to improve from this match:

Hey Turbo, Thanks for taking me under your wing! I mostly play team games consisting of 2v2s and 4v4s. Almost everyday during lunch, I play with one of my coworkers in what is usually a 2v2 as Allies. I generally play as USF, however, after the most recent patch I have been playing as Soviets during those games. At home, which is when I play 4v4s with randoms, I almost exclusively play as OKW. I also occasionally play 2v2s as OKW. In general, I would appreciate help with my macro in situations where I have field advantage. When I am losing, I generally get tunnel-visioned, but I am at least aware when I am doing something incorrect. But, there have been numerous games where I have taken map and VP control by mid-game, but I never capitalize on that correctly and end up losing the match. Additionally, I could use help properly selecting a commander that counters enemy selections while also complementing my teammates' selection as I tend to hesitate on which commanders work best in specific situations. Also, here is my most recent replay Thanks! Hope to chat soon! In: Mentoring |
Thread: Most Recent Game - 2v2 - Commrade_General as Soviets14 Aug 2015, 01:45 AM
2v2 on Semosky Winter Pretty messy game as Soviets. Started an early rush for mortars as I anticipated early occupation of buildings by German MGs. Although I was correct, I had little infantry to prevent that harassment of my weapon teams and got pushed back heavily in early game. At that point I was pretty worried as I usually get pigeon-holed trying to fight back when I get pinned in a corner. Luckily my USF ally was heavily assaulting the other side of the map, allowing me to slowly but surely creep back out of my base. I bought even more mortars to quickly wipe out MG occupied buildings. This prompted one of the Wehr players to deploy stormtroopers consistently against my weapons teams. I should have learned my lesson after the first couple of times he spawned them and perhaps mined the area, but I did no such thing and ended up losing a couple of mortars and had to consistently retreat them. As he was harassing with storms and my conscripts had a difficult time countering, I finally went with Terror doctrine to get shocks in an attempt to counter the stormtroopers. This paid off OK until late-game when he finally brought out medium armor but I had no counter to them. I had a few mines laid down that helped, but my only true counter was the one Zis that I built. Even worse, I decided to build a Howizter in attempt to utilize manpower. All this did was act as another target when the Axis armor reached my base. I ended up getting a SU-85 to counter all the armor. But overall, I was still worried as I didn't know what the other Wehr player was saving up for or what doctrine they were going. The game was kind of a slugfest from then on and I got lucky that the Axis players decided to rush my base with two panthers and a Tiger Ace. One of the panthers I took out over ice. Then one of the panthers (maybe a PIV) hit a mine with critical damage. Shortly after that happened, the Tiger Ace also hit a mine and got engine crit in front of my Zis and SU-85. After their armor was destroyed, they surrendered. Overall, a pretty sloppy win, with lots of moments of indecision on my part of how to counter the tactics they were using. I also didn't really sync too well with my teammate. In: Replays |

Lost a 2v2 as OKW with a random Wehr teammate. I'm a relatively average player (not novice, but not expert). But I just didn't know how to counter the consistent infantry push from the soviet player while the American player was doing a really good harass with the M20. In: Replays |
