That would be awesome! Thanks man!
And also, an OKW guide of any sort would be dope, if one of the other strategists on here has put one together recently.

Turbo! Hey Man. So I've only played a few matches since Sunday; none of them have been too interesting. I've been playing 3's with two of my coworkers, and we've just been stomping as allies...i think the longest match we've had so far has been 18 minutes. All that being said, I haven't really found a replay worth posting, so I apologize about that. But further, I ended up making last minute plans this weekend and I will be out of town until Sunday evening :/ My bad, man. But, let me know if you'd wanna play Sunday night! In: Mentoring |

Hey Turbo, Here's a 1v1 I did today with some decent notes: http://www.coh2.org/replay/41152/for-turbo--commrade_general-as-okw-in-1v1 In: Mentoring |
Thread: For Turbo - Commrade_General as OKW in 1v120 Sep 2015, 18:35 PM
1v1 on Faymonville This was my first 1v1 in a very long time (aside from nervously facing you ) and I thought I did ok. I started out really well pulling some great harass with the Kubel. In th meantime I was getting more volks to cap more points. My thought was that I needed more fuel so I wanted to apply the 1/3 rule to the left hand side of the map since that fuel would be easier to defend from my position. After the first few minutes I realized how crazy different the pacing is in 1v1. As the soviet player decided to get an mg that was getting harder to displace with my kubel, i opted for an IG so I could manage him. I finally decided to deploy my Schwer base in mid so it could defend both the fuel point and the mid VP. However, I chose a little too poorly and picked a very easy location for the soviet player to continuously bombard. I had to consistently repair it with my sturmpios, whom i lost 2 squads to mortar fire. That kind of scared me for a bit, but with both my luchs (which I actually forgot about for half the time it was out) and my PIV, I was able to secure the win. Some things I need to learn: *Map placement for deployable bases - in 2v2, it definitely helps to have the bases deployed in a good position. In 1v1, I don't see how I could win without them being in the *best* position. *Keeping my army together - by mid game, I was losing a lot of infantry engagements because I only had 1 or 2 squads together. I should focus on keeping a larger focus, particularly if the enemy is consistently using a larger force to attack. *Keep track of everything - I seriously forgot about my luchs. Using it earlier and more aggressively could have probably helped me win sooner. In the back of my head I kept expecting a mine to get laid or a Zis to pop out, but neither of those happened. I really need to be more aware of the resources available to me In: Replays |

Hey Turbo, Thanks again for the matches! So some things I took away from today's games: *Understanding army composition, specifically in regards to build order. I should know based on timing, team size, and map how many of each unit I should have. *One-Third Rule: especially in 1v1s, making sure I have 1/3 of the map locked down in order to maintain steady supply of resources. Additionally, this should help my focus in regards to defending and capturing other parts of the map. *Maintaining Logistical Focus: although this is part of the 1/3 rule, I truly feel I need to emphasize this more as I get carried away with trying to cap points all over the map. Besides having the overall objective within the 1/3 rule, I need to make sure I always have a plan of action that im working towards and that my units should always be doing something useful. *Get More General Gameplay Knowledge: play more 1v1s; know the feel and understand the layout of more maps; pay attention to the clock to capitalize on transitional moments. These are all areas where I think I can learn a lot more from to help me be a better player. Thanks again for all the help! In: Mentoring |

DUDE! Amazingly boss analysis!! Also, bummer about your HDD :/ That's never fun to deal with. But in regards to planning ahead, I think that is a super huge problem of mine. I am such a reactive player, I never feel like I know what I actually want my army to do. I enter a game just waiting for the moment where I fall behind and need to figure out how to react. Rarely, do I feel like I know what I'm doing when I'm not purely on the defensive. So I think that's something I really need to focus on as I continue to improve: what is my ideal army comp and stance (in terms of aggressiveness, as I tend to be a naturally turtle/defensive-type player). 2v2 on Minsk Pocket It felt like I had a great start: I micro'd my kubel decently well and was able to push off the initial soviet cap of their fuel point. They soon responded with double scout cars. I put down my mechanized headquarters to respond with (if there had been a British player, I would have probably still put down the med base though). They pushed hard in mid but my ally's MG was able to keep them at bay for a bit. I was eventually able to get my puma behind their scout car to take it out. The other team was really good at capping the far point near our base. As a result, it really slowed the game down as we had to go and continuously push them off and in the process retreat some units due to mines/demo charges. By mid-game, it had basically turned into a slug-fest in the middle. Every once in a while, I would go flank and draw their attention, but their double (maybe even triple?) sniper combo kept my infantry at bay quite a bit. I probably should have still had more infantry so my pushes could sustain longer, even with my units down some models due to snipers. By late game, I had some decent armor out, but I wasn't able to push hard enough. I really need to figure out what I can lose when I push and what will give me the advantage. It's hard for me to invest because I always assume I'll hit a mine or get engine damage from conscript AT grenade. But we had held middle really well, even when they tried to pull a full front assault with their IS-2. We were able to take it out without any real concern. I just felt that I should have been able to capitalize more considering our decent map control. In: Replays |

2v2 on Trois Points Started out ok. I got a couple of infantry sections and an mg to lock down my side of the map where there was a fuel point and VP. Early game was going well for me until the wehr player brought out mortars. By this time I had some engineers and wanted to try and counter with a mortar emplacement. It went ok, but I still lost it relatively quickly. By mid game, the wehr player was trying very had to push me off of the fuel point with double mortars and pak-guns to scare off any armor I had. Fortuantely, due to some decent mine placement, I engine crit his Ostwind which was trying to flank me and destroyed. However, I could never push him completely off as he had an mg in the church and my armor couldn't get close enough due to his paks. I ended up going the long way to try and displace him by getting a sexton on the field. We kind of kept each other at bay, so in the meantime, I would send some of my infantry to help my ally capture the mid VP. By late game I threw together some decent armor. Although I was rather careless with the micro of some of my tanks. To be honest, it had been a while since I fielded so many at once (I think i had three at one point on the field), I wasn't able to successfully retreat them as fast as I had wanted. But overall, the tanks did a decent job of fighting their late game armor. My biggest concerns this game were being able to develop better flanking maneuvers on such a tight map and in general, being more aggressive with my map control, which I've continuously had issues with. Thanks! In: Replays |
