Everybody and especialy Relic must understand that balancing 3v3 and 4v4 it's not about a faction performance, but how the synergy between allied or axis factions work. If you change a faction by nerfing/buffing individual units or such, you will obtain balance, or something close to it, for small game modes. If you change the way the factions work together, you are challenging the real problem that this thread is about.
As a short example, the change related to Opel Blitz, which provided resources for all allied players. I am not implying that was a good change or a bad change, but it definetly affected the way axis factions were working together.
I am not a balance expert, so I can't point out the problem exactly, but I am pretty sure that it's about what I wrote above.
Maybe the should change how the received income from caches works?
Dunno. But I will certainly not mess up the 1v1 and 2v2 balance just to balance 3v3s and 4v4s. It won't be fair. |
Is there any reason to build one with this new patch? The panther is in the same tier and fulfills both a AT and AI roles.
Pre patch, the Jagdpanzer served as a "safe" option if you did not have the fuel to tech past tier 1 and afford a PIV or Panther.
Well, as I see it, you can go 2 ways related to OKW T4: Panther + Panther + as many panthers you can field.
OR
P4 + Jgdpanzer + P4 + P4...etc.

Some adaptation needs to be performed. And after one week let's see these statistics again. I don't try to say anithyng, let's just wait and see. If these numbers remain the same, then we could have a balance problem. |
The problem with the vocal 4v4 majority, is that they are casuals who don't know shit about balance. Every time something is changed they spam a hundred threads demanding massive nerfs and buffs. They never try to play differently, it is always: "My strat doesn't work anymore the game is broken." 5 minutes after a patch is released. Metas take weeks to develop, that is why Relic lets patches sit for two-three months before the next one dedicated to balance. The next patch(in January) will probably be for hotfixes for anything that is still blatantly OP and bug fixes and maybe optimization.

After playing several 2v2s and 3v3s in this weekend, arena team and randoms, I can say that I don't find the balance being off.
I mean:
2 3v3s one lost, one won.
2 random 2v2s.
several (can't remember how many, damn') arena team 2v2s.
Ok, at my level - which is not high, but quite mediocre, I don't feel the game is unbalanced, as simple as that. I was beaten several times, I won several times, and I think the victories number is verry close to the defeats' number.
The USF blobbing is as effective as ever, moping up the floor with axis units early game. If they do this properly, no come back for axis at this stage.
Related to volks, the first difference I noticed is that they are quite expensive, without having such a performance boost. They are somewhat okish without being to good.
*Note: do not expect form OKW a to combined arms play. It will never happen. No matter how you change this faction, its verry nature is to use the more simple tactics which are the most easy ones. All you must find is counters. And I saw that counterblobbing in USF's case works verry good.*
For ostheer, it's quite the oposite. The most you combine and diversify, the better.
I met only one player with brits, which could mean 2 things (one of them or both):
1. The cheese is gone, and with it, all the cheese abusers;
2. The other 2 Allied factions are in a better state right now.
So please do not expect form OKW to play Ostheer style. If it does this, it will loose, as simple as that.
Each faction is different, and you can hate OKW for what it is, but you cannot ever change its nature. I think we need to understand this, eather we like it or not.
P.S. What's with that Calliope anyway? Met it in one game, it's so effective against both infantry and vehicles. I would gladly change the wurframen with it. Can't say it's OP because I didn't see it performing but in one game, I have to face it / use it more, to see what it can realy do. |
Where did I state anything about anything being OP? I talked about a synergy, not a faction being op.

1 game vs okw. didnt notice that infantry buffs. Big (deserved) nerf to kubel and leig. Now its on pair with trash M3.
Ecept M3 can carry, you know, flamer equiped engies/penals that can mess up an entire frontline. M3 more valuable by a big margin.
Panther is impossible to finish off when it arrives.
Except you have a couple of su-76s that will punish it hard if he doesn't move back from where it camed. |
OKW was born OP in some people's minds. Unless it's uterly shit, it's OP.
And let's forget about Ostheer. That faction is perfectly balanced, with its expensive teching, good for nothing grenadiers and Ostwinds hard countered by a few PTRSs..... |
