Popularity is very important.
Popularity means more sales over time, but most importantly: it means the popularity of the developers and the francise rises which mean more sales with future games.
Let's admit the game it's not the worst RTS. On the contrary, it's the best and the most tactical, and it has its advantages and revolutionary concepts that it brought on the market. The frustration related to balance, bugs and other things is realy felt just by passionate playerbase which is quite small! The majority of players are playing COH2 like they would play CS GO or other games, just for fun, not investing to much time in improving their skills, COh being a game that needs alot of time and patience to improve. So the francise will never die, it will produce money in the future too, no matter how many people will disappoint. Is the real fans Relic doesn't care to much. Look at the game as a whole: it looks nice and shiny - great graphics, great and attractive menus, units, commanders, yous say "wow" as soon as you install it. Don't you see Relic invests more work and time in coloring the game and adding unnecessary features as decals, thousands of skins, factions, etc, making it more attractive instead to invest in balance, bug fixing and optimization? It's like you fall in love when you see a beautifull woman well dressed and nice, and then when you kiss her you discover her breath smells. |
http://steamcharts.com/app/231430 -> coh2 going from 21k peak player to 8k in 2 years
Do you realy think they care? They cashed in their money with COh2 sales. Maybe a few copies will still be sold this year, but that's about it. Time to abandon COH2 and develop another game. If these figures are real, than the game it's a big fail from popularity point of view which we, as clients, think that is the most important factor. For them, as developer and vendor, the stake is the money. 80-90% from what they could cash in with this game is allready cashed in and, from financial point of view, which matters to them, it's a success. People are often forgetting this issue. |
Well I will say CoH2 is the most poorly balanced game RN, its all due to how long it takes for their patches to kick in and their unwillingness to listen to the community but make good judgments on it. Their patches over buff something or over nerf units pushing them hard into the meta or completely wiping out the doctrines you can go (B4,kv1 commander for a start).
You can argue with me all you want but this is going to be my final view on this game. The bias is reaching critical levels, we don't get a lot of information about the game and how units that are adjust are supposed to fit their roles. Its almost impossible to talk strategies or if units are broken without someone calling you a "Wehraboo" or an "allies fanboy" leaving all discussions null and boring.
There is no counter play if you take out call ins for soviets, USF gets beat down by mg spam, and the only way for USF to win is to spam Jacksons to stop panther spam. There isn't a fair game, and its getting duller by the minute as axis and allies go the same commanders and don't have options to explore other ones to get a different game. Adding the Brits wont help the bitterness in the community and its unwillingness to discus balance issues and be open to changes. The past 2 weeks I have made posts constructive topics and issues and half the posts are filled with "its a l2p issue" without even giving the idea a try, they skip the wall of text and look for a TLDR without giving it a thought.
If we want this game to be here after the British launch, we as a community need to get better at communicating and telling people our reasoning behind it. Rn it takes 3 pages of talk to convince Alex that something needs changed. Balance patches are another issues, they should be smaller but more often to keep the META in check and make it so we cant spam broken units and make even more people put the game down, last but not least we need to understand both factions and how they operate. Play a few games as the other faction and think about it from a balance stand point rather than looking at the RAW W/L ratio as those wont till you that much.
This game as it stands is almost impossible to balance without overhauls, not even ESL would allow this to fly and in order to fix this we need more open minds not "l2p" or "Working as intended". Remember this is our game and our passion, we shape this game and its competitive back bone.
Hey, L2P, everything is working as intended! |
Maybe we have an inflation of Allied ranks. The bad players that could easily win games previously by running blobs into MGs and spam heavy call in USSR vehicles, are now required to micro.
Just applying #Alliedonlyplayerlogic from the previous patch.
An Allied game didn't require less micro. And now it requires more micro. But chesee allied tactics are chesier than chesee axis tactics. This is the difference . |
If he quits the job you can take it or share it with Porygon.
And Katitof has his fanclub too.... |
And remember that Relic make sometimes a "balance patch" about some units just coz a lot of bad players "cry".
The unit is not Op but they nerf it ...
And that is how we have the today's OKW which is "bad design". The truth is it became "bad designed" only after rivers of tears cryied on forums . |
OBK, you are wrong man. You just lost to people who adapted verry quickly to new patch cheese. Every path has its cheese, the sooner you understand this, the better. Even so, every cheese is counterable. You just need to think more. Not necessarely play more. Think more. Find new strategies .
P.s. Nevermind Katitof, every forum has its buffoon and he took the job. Proudly. Oh well, someone has to do it. |
What is your contribution, besides BS? Top players did not adapt to patch? Lol, do you really believe that?
It's a well known fact that after important changes due to patches people are sill stuck in old cheesee strategies praying that they will still work. And guess what, guard motor still work very well. Mg42s spam? Lol, you should consider 120 mortars spam too, have you face it yet? I did. Alot of people are referring to 120 as curently "nerfed". Lol. They are very dangerous and still whipe squads like hell. |
Good bye, good luck and thank you for your work. My favourite CM ever |
As much I appreciate the fact that you wanted to find a solution for a better AA role, I don't like it. Sounds strange. Ok, I know I'll be back to that "but in real life" argument, still, in WW2 pilots were attacking areas where several AA were guarding the skyes. Sometimes they succeed to fulfill their mission, other times they were shot down. It was war, they had orders and of course courage. An AA presence doesn't mean instant sky total denial. I think the AA role now is quite ok, in WW2 AAs where indeed use as AI platform though their primary role was to shot down planes. Sometimes they were used as Anti-vehicle / Anti-tank platforms. In fact, when armies had'n enough AT guns or haven't AT guns at all to defend a certain area, heavy AAs were fulfilling that role. |
