No ping filter in automatchmaking. 2-3 second input lag in all end-game situations even with a player sitting right next to you. Horrid pathfinding. Horrid microstutter. Thread: Relic re-organisation and Kyle's response16 Mar 2016, 19:03 PM They need to start over anyways. The sooner COH2 dies, the sooner they can eventually go to COH3 even if ti might never happen. This game engine is so horrible and the game design so bad, they should just start over. RNG mixed with bad performance due to all these idiotic features that clog game performance. Ask yourself this: did the COH2 team really deserve to keep their jobs? This game is terrible from a simply technical standpoint. In: Lobby
Thread: Let's talk about ostheer.16 Mar 2016, 07:03 AM Ostheer is best designed faction. They usually demand combined arms and are more of a finesse. Biggest necessary change is to decrease cost of tier 4 and increase utility of tier 4. Ostheer basically techs to call ins or tier 3. The lack of strategic options compared to OKW or Soviet is stifling. Ostheer could also use some more indirect fire options. Emplacement cancer shouldn't require a doctrinal response in Mortar Halftrack. Also please remove the AIDS that is British from the game. Emplacement spam or sim city is a huge joke of game design. Not that it'll happen since Relic basically abandoned the game. In: COH2 Balance

It is powerfully non-interactive and requires a boring linear counter. Whereas most matchups are full of back and forth, Brit design is campy stupidity. Relic just doesn't get it. They have no lead game designer that cares about making the game fun or has a high level understanding of the game. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Relic re-organisation and Kyle's response15 Mar 2016, 23:32 PM The game has been dead a long time. The engine is just so horrid that working at the edges means nothing. There is like 2 second input lag built into the late game because of some horrid optimization issues. Watching "high-level" players is more like watching the WSOP. There is no fine micro-control. The luckiest person wins unless there is some weird meta strat that is OP (read AEC spam last patch). Better to let this game die and then hope COH3 hopefully fixes things like 5 years from now. Thread: Why do you like CoH 2?15 Mar 2016, 01:17 AM What do you like about CoH 2? It has its moments where it improves on the original. Jumping over cover is ok. The change in resourcing so that getting cut off doesn't cut you from pop cap and normal resource points giving more resources than specialized resource points. What don't you like about CoH 2? The engine, the game design, the balance, the pathfinding, the unit movement, and the engine. The Engine is god awful. Why the game has 3-4 second input lag by the end of most games is beyond me even when I play a friend from the states. The network code in this game seems to require all clients to be synced to the relic server which causes huge input lag. Every competitive gamer friend even those that like RTS quit this game because of its bad performance. These are dudes that have 144hz, 1ms response monitors and play on the lowest settings. This game is not fit to be an esports. And the game design and balance are related. Relic just doesn't get it. There was so much RNG and clunky gameplay mechanics like snow in the game to begin with. And they really don't value interactive gameplay. There are so many autowin abilities and non-interactive counters. British design is simply cancer. And movement and pathfinding is terrible too. Everything is on rails and doesn't reward micro at all. The only way a player can interact with the game is micro, build order, and capping so the whole game just becomes about metagaming. Why do you prefer playing CoH 2 over every other RTS game? It's a change of pace from Starcraft. CoH2 could have a nice niche as being a more tactical game than SC2 which is really macro dependent. But COH2 does not have a support team that gets it. How much man hours went into changing the pathfinding last year and they simply had to revert it. The developers have absurd priorities. I just hope they get the game in a playable enough state before they finally quit supporting it. There's no way the low ESL viewership justfies their investment into it; not that it's very fun to watch RNG and patch abuse anyways. And I wonder how many people buy the commanders. Maybe 10-20k? Relic has a skeleton crew on this game and the fact that sh*t game design like Bofors makes it into the game is proof. I just hope when they finally stop "supporting" that they leave the game in a somewhat playable state. We may have to wait like 5 years for COH3 and it will probably have a crap engine too In: Lobby
