If the lmg34 stays at it's current stats. 70mu is way too little. The doctrinal m1919 from USF infantry company is 70mu, that's nerfed from 60mu. There is no comparison. Even 2 m1919 are not as good as lmg34.
Asymmetry between factions, that is why costs aren't equal across all factions. |
I can see Obers getting a price change to 340MP and having to pay 70 Munis for the LMG34, but anymore than that and the unit just won't be worth it. People saying Obers need to pay 100 munis for the LMG34 are forgetting that having to invest that many munis into an AI-only unit will make it harder for the OKW players getting Shreks on their Volks. So Shrek-less Volks and AI-only Obers would mean Allied vehicles would just roll all over the OKW. |
Not a good idea and this idea has been brought up before and shot down as bad design and overall worse for the game. Kills the fun of spamming units for casual games and puts hard limits on competitive players. Such a change would only be frustrating for both groups of this game. |
Obers fly against the logic of the game, in a way no other unit does. They cost only manpower, yet cannot be countered by a manpower only investment except with a MUCH larger investment than was spent on the obers. 1 Maxim will die from an ober squad. 1 US mg will die from an ober squad. This would be alright, IF the obers had at some point used munitions to increase their power in some way, but they have not. By arguing that obers are fie because they an be countered by armor, you are directly going against the implicit rules of COH2. This is why many people wish for obers to be changed in some way.
Your statement makes no sense, you complain that Obers can only be beat by a much larger investment than their 400MP cost, but also complain that you can't beat them with a 240MP investment?
No duh your 240MP can't beat their 400MP, they wouldn't be played if they could be beat by a 240MP investment. |
Corrected in bold.
Also, Obers and Panthers together beat any inf/medium non doctrinal tank combination in the game hands down. OKW players don't need mediums that hurt infantry and tanks.
That is also one of the highest resource investments in the game. L2P. |
Is it really hard to understand that I don't share your opinion? My believe is that the king Tiger in Elite Armor would make it the most picked doctrine due not having to tech to get out a King Tiger. The OKW meta would become much like the Soviets with OKW players only getting Tier 2 or 3 and saving fuel for a King Tiger call-in. So I believe you would in fact see MORE King Tiger's due to them being easier to come out. |
King Tiger is fine where it is and if they did move it to Panzer Elite then you would still see a 20 minute King Tiger, as you said. So the meta wouldnt change and this thread has no logical basis. Plus Relic wont change pay for Commanders so why are we even discussing this? |
Well ok, but honestly in high level play you dont see the KT alot , because to get it in early stages of the game does usually not pay off.
KT is absolutly fine where it is now ( and how you get it)
I agree with you that the P4s need love , but thats an issue with the lackluster Elite armor doc.
This^. Plus USF have P47 Strike, which significantly does damage to slow moving King Tiger. |
The entire faction is designed around getting out the King Tiger. The entire point of suffering through the weak OKW early and mid game is to get a King Tiger late game. Getting 2 crappy Panzer 4s would be a giant kick in the nuts to the faction.
Elite Armor still needs a lot of its doctrine abilities buffed or reduced in price. For now the doctrine is fun, but requires extra micro and RNG luck to get anything out of.
Edit: I could see putting a buffed Panzer 4 in the Tier 4 OKW building in place of the Panther and putting a 2 Panthers battlegroup in place of the King Tiger, but definitely not 2 Panzer 4s that late in the game. |
I pre-ordered Rome 2 Total War and got burned BAD by that game. Since then, there are very few companies I will pre-order from and Relic isn't one of them. Plus, as has already been stated a lot, $40 for a single player only campaign that doesn't really do much of anything new(according to the little we have seen on the game)just doesn't do it for me. Maybe when it is $10-20, but $40 is at least 2 times too much.
Given how many bugs persisted in multiplayer for years and how forgettable and un-replay-able the soviet single player was for COH2, I feel little to no enticement for this product even after a price cut to $20. I am sure Relic has good people working for it and I give my verbal support that they keep supporting the game, but they haven't garnered enough trust with me (and a large portion of the community, IMO) to offer a $40 single player expansion.
