I love the pop cap change, instead of goofy decimal point infantry, they give squads a base cost and add models to it. Yeah your one man left on retreat will be worth like 3-5 pop, but it fixes all the other issues and their stupid rounding up per model crap that was terrible.
The fuel changes are "HOTFIXES" they are quick and dirty changes that will hopefully be ironed out better in one of the big patches, but for the sake of big team games they needed a quick "not game breaking" change. KT will probably still come too soon though. |
OKW has been one of the poorest designs for a faction in RTS history. It tells you how well designed they are that the "revamp" has made them laughably OP. I swear someone at relic is just pushing buttons at random hoping that one day the game will accidentally balance itself.
2v2 they are just horrid now. 2v2 AT as allies is my most played and its not even fun to win anymore. Have to go through too much stress and frustration to beat double OKW.
Now you know what it was like to play OKW before the patch. OKW does need some fixes. |

There is, after all, no interest for team games in the player base. No siree. I mean, look at DotA 2 and LoL, literally the most played games in the world. I bet they are rolling in that mad dough because they are balanced for 1v1.
Also while we're at it, Relic, please make sure to ignore and fuck over the experience of the majority of your player base because of an elitist vocal minority on the forums.
In fact, make CoH3 for top 200 1v1 players only, that way you can sell guaranteed 100 copies to cover all the uber balancing costs.

So sick of that BS elitist attitude, and absolute ignorance of the truth; team games are a very popular game mode, and thus, a big deal. But hey, like this guy said, you "elite" players have fun playing the same group of guys, when team games finally dies out from player frustration and eventual abandonment.
The problem with the vocal 4v4 majority, is that they are casuals who don't know shit about balance. Every time something is changed they spam a hundred threads demanding massive nerfs and buffs. They never try to play differently, it is always: "My strat doesn't work anymore the game is broken." 5 minutes after a patch is released. Metas take weeks to develop, that is why Relic lets patches sit for two-three months before the next one dedicated to balance. The next patch(in January) will probably be for hotfixes for anything that is still blatantly OP and bug fixes and maybe optimization. |

Well no, I wasn't around back then. But I remember playing with Obers that came with a LMG34 stock and pre-nerf Luchs and FlakHT. Since OKW doesn't really have a snare, I never thought having a single 90 munitions Schreck on a mediocre yet cheap squad was a problem, especially since the Raketens has a very limited range. Oh well.
As I said in another thread, OKW lacks non-doctrinal mid tier infantry, like PGrens or the Captain squad where you could place the Schreck. They also shouldn't become Ostheer v2.
As of now, the vehicles seem to be a problem here, not the Volks, Schreck or not.
Volk Shreks are the problem, they shut down light vehicle counter play against the Luchs. Late game they serve as extra push with the Panther to break tank lines and punish early mediums. I agree that OKW doesn't have a good mid-tier AT team and I would prefer that over Shreks on Volks. |
4x STG-44 would be too much on a 250mp infantry squad. I would buff volks to slightly below gren level per model, make them cost 300mp, and reduce their tarting mp to regular levels or make them start with a kubel (and keep their high starting mp). Then, I would give them the ability to take that upgrade for 100mu (same as stormtrooper upgrade).
Panzershreck would either go to sturms as a single upgrade or to a dedicated AT squad.
This would make OKW more of an elite faction (lower unit numbers due to manpower strain, but much higher survivability and power per squad, + specialist vehicles.)

I hope people are rather considering changing something related to the resource income and the teching and leave Volks alone. They were buffed slightly and are more expensive now while simultaneously getting their higher vet bonuses reduced. The have the Schreck upgrade since release and before this patch his the beta status not a single post was written about how Schrecks should not be a mainline infantry upgrade. Resource income malus or not, OKW players always got one or two Schrecks on their Volks, starting with the highest vetted ones. It has never been a problem.
Now suddenly everyone whines about that, probably just because Volks got slightly buffed, ignoring everything else and blaming stuff that all in all stayed the same for the sudden change of results when doing what they always did. Please find the solution somewhere else, Volks are not the problem.
As I already wrote in another thread, the changes were too massive. Your normal gamer can't really analyze and rationalize what's going on and blames everything to the most obvious. Relic should have started by changing everything but the Volks, fixed everything and then change Volks. Noone would have complained that much.
Heh, you haven't been here long, eh? Since OKW came out, players have been hating on Shreks on Volks. There were less threads for it when they got their Vet bonuses nerfed hard about half a year ago, but the hate for Shreks on cheap mainline infantry has ALWAYS been around. I hate it, because it is the boring, only decent play for OKW. Every strat discussion for OKW starts with: "Build 3-4 Volk squads and when first vehicle shows up, get Shreks". |
I would like to try this as the same old Volk Shrek spam into P4/Panther is still the best strat in anything other than 1v1 and is friggin boring. |
