M8 is not too survivable, and the fact that people are trying to act like it justifies how piss poor it is currently is laughable. Every Axis tank in the game (and brits with Hammer) can press a button to zoom away from fights going poorly. Every Ostheer vehicle has access to smoke with doctrine to make their high armor stock tanks even harder to kill.
The M8a1 is a lategame, mobile indirect support unit like the katy and werfer. Unlike those two, the M8a1 has far less range, less burst damage and capacity to wipe, and less reason to be taken over their factions' other stock vehicles in their tiers. It needs survivability to work at all as a unit, unless someone wants to convince me that it should have the same health as mortar halftracks that hit the field earlier.
The M8a1 needs lethality buffs period. No compromises, no corresponding nerfs. US lategame is known as the weakest in the game, and mainly because of the lack of lategame stock anti-blobbing tools, forcing certain doctrines to cover this hole. The barrage is laughably weak, and the autofire has already been neutered. Increase the AoE of the barrage shells, or give it suppression, or stock WP barrages, or something to make it a consistent anti-blob tool.

120mm is same price as pack not as good tho both 340. ALSO more expensive then leig and is argueably worse. ALSO 120mm is doctrinal! in 2 commanders! if im not mistaken. why doesnt it shine over all other arty?? 120 dont have cool things like pack heat barrage and WP. or the high accuracy and shot angle like a leig. How far would a unit get from running from the noise of a leig shot compared to how far another unit will get from running away from the noise of a 120mm?? if the noise is heard and u run from the shot from these to units. you are more likely afraid of the leig cuz u wont have many steps till the shell hits close by u. the 120 u know ull be a HUGE distance away ez |
another thing. axis mgs instant pinn most of the time on the start of burst or early in burst almost always unless u turn super quickly and that dont work always. maxim a ton of the time never pinns the first burst unless the enemy runs in deep in the cone. also the maxim dont suppress 3 units kinda close together on start of burst either like axis mgs. has it always been like this? is it fair with the big cones? axis mgs move fast to its not like it takes forever to re position them. team games there spammed so hard becuz this against allies players. yes they can be countered with smokes but they can reposition multiple of them really fast it wont take long to set up. maxim can be countered with smokes to. but the suppressing speed is insane.and sometimes ill be crawling suppressed for soooo long without even taking shots. rarely they will get up fast. how does this mechanic work ? how do u know how long u have to crawl |
me and a few buds been using the hell out of the 120mm mortar and the shells just takes to long to get to there target for what it does. its expensive like the pack howitzer isnt it? it should be able to kill just as good at least. the scatter is also not all that good. units have to be hurt to get kills so that means 2-3 hits with good accuracy. but how many misses did it take to hit 3 times u kno? the timed ability is cool but i can kill structures with the regular barrage to and save munis even tho it might take only a little bit longer to kill. direct hits should kill. its a 120 mm HE mortar shell...drags like hell to aim shoot stay in air and hit target.. the pop cap is huge. and i still have to buy katyushas for simple weapon crews cuz 120mm will not get many kills. ive been getting more kills with regular 81mm mortar and it smokes faster, way cheaper, way less pop cap |
Its not useless, would be op if it was the same pen as zis-3, maybe give it ability to increase pen temporarily against armoured targets, tied to vet or muni cost or both? so the zis in your opinion should be better even tho u get it on a cheaper tier. and it costs 70 less fuel? i think other wise. also the su76 is not only really expensive u have to pay constantly for barrages draining more ontop of the higher pop cap |
Yeap, this thing is broken. Just tested it. It only works if enemy is on the frontline sector though. Planes appear almost instantly and the damage is abysmal. I actually wondering if the damage is higher then with simple anti-infantry strafe...AAaand you pay only 150 munies for that lol i just actually tested this ability in like 15 games spamming it. and while this thread maker shows only the strafs that did well. from my experience they dont come instantly. everyone agreeing with him is just agreeing and have no experience with this. it actually takes like 20-30 secs while active already for the first straf to arrive. u have 30 secs to look at the territory to make sure u dont go inside of it. u get 30 secs warning not to enter anyone who enters the territory were either noob or made a mistake not seeing the zone warning. also it dont wipe units in 1 run. only if stand in the flare and dont move it will most likely kill units if they are blobbed. if they are spread out they wont kill. if u keep moving they will miss and "maybe" pinn u. the rocket strafe always misses tanks dont fear unless u literally stand there. if moving ull be fine. this ability isnt as op as i thought from just watching the video. after using this ability like 40 times yesterday i came to the conclusion the ability is fine. not op. gives a 30 sec warning basically and if u always moving ur fine. |

Sector Artillery? Close the pocket?
yea when i seen this i thought the same. sector wipe to if u stand there but u have to stand there a little longer then the straf. the thing about the straf is it comes 1 time and u have to make sure u keep moving tho or that first burst will kill u. if u move ull be fine but u have to retreat after that. close the pocket yea can delete everything in seconds also. aa kills those hold the line planes really easy though and will rank u up. im suprised players kept on goin in the defended zones. knowing holdtheline is active. that was noob asf tho |
