Gotta agree with Cookiez, the Captain definitely has a place. |
A replay would help, but here's how I see it:
Combined Arms. Your AT guns are a serious threat to all USF armor, as are Panzer IVs. PzGrens with Schrecks are also deadly against Jacksons, but vulnerable to Shermans, so I wouldn't recommend them.
And if you can get out a Panther or Tiger, the USF have very little that can handle that, if you support it enough to prevent it from getting flanked.
The P-47 Rocket Run is annoying, but unlike your own JU-87G Attacks, it generally doesn't kill tanks, unless you stay in the area.
So, he can buy some time with it, but at 240 munitions he can maybe do it twice, and then (usually) your tanks are still alive.

From what we see, Brits are in, so the other faction, if any, will be something Brits fought. In my opinion Brits did not clash with Japanese enough in the Asian theatre to merit an entire expansion around this scenario.
Look up the Japanese campaign into Burma and India. The British Army clashed quite heavily with the Japanese there, and while it ended in disaster for the Japansese, the number of troops employed by either side was far from small.
There was also e.g. the Battle for Singapore (which was a disaster for the Brits, but still).
As for those saying that the Japanese don't really have ground combat worth mentioning.. the Pacific theater saw some of the bloodiest battles of the entire war.

Actual opposite happened to me: was thinking about trying Mechanized but decided not to buy it. Bam, next drop was the Commander. |
Not necessarily. I'm confident they could make the Italians work.
Sure, IRL the Italians kinda failed, but they still had a bunch of interesting (if not necessarily very good) Equipment such as the Semovente, Carro Veloce, P40, and some very good light Infantry.
And they can always tweak stuff in the game to make them more competitive. |
Fun fact no. 2: It doesn't work anymore. I tested it out and it doesn't one shot anything worth mentioning except a halftrack.
But.. but.. why??
Does the Ambush Bonus not apply to Schrecks anymore or something? |
Fun fact: a squad of Panzergrenadiere with Ambush Camo and Schrecks will oneshot a T-34, or any US vehicle except the Bulldozer Sherman. |
I strongly advise against the Flamer HT as it costs a lot of munitions that could be better used elsewhere (LMGs, mines, riflegrenades), is really fragile, and by the time it comes out, counters are right around the corner.
The Mortar HT on the other hand can work really well.
Other options include a regular mortar, flanking with Flamers or just Grens, and Riflegrenades. Currently, Maxim teams bunch up quite a bit, so area-of-effect weapons are very effective. |
There is a difference between concentration of forces and blobbing.
And yes, there should be better anti blob tools. Mines should give suppression etc
Agreed on both points. Overextension should be able to be punished by a concentrated push, but masses of Cons, Volks or Rifles running over everything in their path, including machine guns, isn't right.
I wish we had the Nebelwerfer from the first game- little initial damage, but a flame effect and a TON of supression. |
I have tried and tried to make airborne work for me...I just can't do it. It's so good on paper but it just doesn't work for in-game. Rifle used to be my go-to but starting the game with a cool-down on a 0CP ability? What's the point of a 0CP ability then? Stupid.
I go Armour mainly and maybe Infantry if the situation is right.
I really like Airborne, as it allows me to go Lieutenant -> Major -> fast Sherman, and still get an AT gun should the need arise. Paratroopers are also very powerful and let you handle vetted infantry like Grenadiers and possibly even Obers. The P-47 Rocket Attack is also very powerful.
As for vetted Rifles: early on after the release of WFA, the ability started ready to be used. It was OP as hell. You ended up with a strong numerical advantage early on that snowballed out of control.
That said, Infantry and Armor are both solid choices. |
