It's expensive. Although it's a lot easier to land than a railway artillery and equally devastating. Hey, even so, I'm sure there is some way to fix that. Perhaps scout cars have an effectiveness to it like it has against snipers?
The only fix I think it needs is a lower set up time. If it can be planted faster, I'd have a lot more incentive to plant it. 10 muni for 1-2 model kills isn't too bad. That, and vision.
Ostruppen scale pretty well late-game in regards of taking damage. They can out do conscripts in surviving due to low cost and high vet bonus in reducing received accuracy. The one problem with them is their reliance on cover for any level of accuracy. Without it, they are half of grens, with cover, they do a slight bonus higher than grens. The cover bonus can be powerful when in combination with picking up dropped LMG. It can become extremely accurate because of the cover bonus.
Personally, Ostruppen compliment weapon crews since they can make weapon crews equally cheap. In single player games, they make it a cheap solution early game for point capture and general purposes with lower dps in exchange for vitality. They do not have grenades of any sort, so they struggle against buildings and HMG crews.
Multiplayer wise, they can be a power house early game commander, since they can hold the line for teammates who struggle with their late armor strategies. Heavy emphasis in this style relies on cheap, high vet ostruppen in unison with equally cheap weapon crews (once recrewed).
Honestly, the only reason I will ever think this is necessary if I was playing Ostruppen. The bunkers are too clunky to use and a smaller sandbag would make a world of difference. Would be rather powerful indirect upgrade if they can set it up themselves though.
The Panzerschrecks isn't that much of an issue if you ask me. It's a single schrek and since patch they don't gib infantry and grenades are really all that they've got as an effective AI option. They aren't tanky anymore too so most tanks will be able to push them off. If you are silly enough to drive your tank into a horde of Volks with schreks, you are doing something wrong.
A 2nd faction would honestly not be a bad idea. However, I feel the allies are already out-doing the axis by one faction and yet another would just make it even more bothersome.
I don't see how model problem just removed the female partisan. I really hope they are capable of simply fixing something like that. It's content like this that would really shine through the kind of unique effort that Relic put into their games.
Also, I wonder if the guys tweaking the new patch see this. The Partisan are going to be crippled again if they don't fix it.
I hope they noticed my thread about the new Partisan bug.
They don't have the bug from before but now they no longer have camouflage if they lose a model. The old models retain camouflage but reinforcements come with no camo!
So...while the camouflage for weapon crews and no cover camouflage is fixed, this resulted in Partisan suffering from yet another bug.
- New Partisan members that are gained through reinforcing do not share the camouflage ability.
While playing them, I couldn't help but feel that I miss the female models for the Partisan squads. They were interesting and wasn't the same voice as the conscripts. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I just don't find the fact a young Soviet man sounds the same as a young Polish Partisan very appealing. Subjective, I suppose. I don't understand why they had to be removed, honestly. Women fought in this war, I'm sure. Wouldn't hurt to see them prowling the battlefield to knock a German sniper's teeth in.
