You just need a jadgepanzer + some other AT source like a puma. I've seen good players use this effectively.
It has 60 range, good penetration, and the ISU can often miss at that range
If your jadgepanzer gets hurt, you can quickly reverse to a repair truck, and repair more quickly and safely than the ISU.
The superior vet system of OKW also means that trading off hits / stalling will favour you. Your tank will only get much better.
Rushing for KTs or Jadgetiger isn't viable. An ISU can come out at 20 mins, even if you manage to harass his fuel. However, if you can manage a KT at a reasonable time, it's a good choice, better than the jadgetiger since it can also deal with AT guns / infantry.

It's basically that Soviet T1 is broken. Getting m3s at 2 minutes and being able to load flamers in them like a bunch of clowns is ridiculous. It's a problem for both Ost and OKW, since both can only get counters at maybe 5-6 mins minimum.
This strategy also points out the flaws of soviet "teching". You can get an ISU (counter AT guns, inf and most tanks) out at 20 mins and 2nd at 24-25 mins easily, if you have at least 1 fuel point. It's often better to just rely on guards + T1 + T2 and forget about T3/T4. This can be too strong against opponents who decide to tech... This goes the same for ostheer who skip teching and spam tigers... |
bp 1 should cost a bit less (30 fuel), so ostheer can actually get a 222 out before 6 mins to counter m3flamer start spams (can arrive as early as 2:30).
Diverting fuel from T3 to T4 won't fix Ost. teching. It's mainly that T4 is way too expensive, as getting a tiger is cheaper than getting a panther, presuimg you teched to T3 and are getting panzer 4s.

The problem is that you shouldnt get these units early. For 200 mp, they are waste and won't deliver any impact on the battlefield compared to getting a gren. Sure, they might be decent at mid game for recrewing, but the commanders that give ostruppen don't have any good callins/abilities for lategame.
Plus, for any purpose they aren't worth 200 mp for recrewing weapons, it should be 120 mp with a long CD. Their DPS is abysmal, you'd need 2 ostruppen fighting a single conscript in perfect conditions (400 mp vs 240 mp). |
Soviets are easier in 1v1 than Ostheer/OKW. It's all about maxim or m3/flamers with guards or shocks. You can rely on a lot of cheese/abuse tactics at mid-high level matches. Plus their call ins are superior (ISU, IS2, t34/85... ).
Ostheer is a harder faction overall. Although most players rely on the broken strategy of only getting tigers, if players don't choose this path it's much harder. |
Even if Ostheer is designed to get a couple of T3 tanks first and not rush for T4, the tanks for T4 aren't a good late game addition. It's way better and cheaper (in mp and fuel) to just get several tigers after that.
The panther for OKW works because the teching is at a right price and you can take hits/deal dmg, and immediately retreat to a repair truck. Easy. Plus it has better AI and vet over time. |
The best way is to get 1/2 P4s, a pak and then a tiger ace.
P4s have great AI, and you shouldn't aim to totally destroy their shermans. Fend off abit and gain vet. When they reach vet 2/3 they are really effective.
Saving for a tiger and paks is more risky.
2 panzer 4s (dominate the field with these between 12-20 mins) to a tiger ace is also good against Soviets who save up specifically for multiple is2s or ISU. When a ISU or is2 pops out at 20 mins, you should wait for a tiger ace.
A standard tiger isn't great against heavy tanks, and panthers are too late/expensive to get for any meaningful impact in the game against any faction.

The ISU is useful in all situations, reduce in range helps but doesn't fix the broken nature of this unit. It does 240 dmg (good for AT) and can 1 hit wipe AT guns, and wipe infantry in 1-2 shots.
The elephant needs 80 range at least. |
Kat can seem most devastating against OKW trucks. But OKW has stuka and plenty of light vehicles to hunt it down, it's really fragile. |
