I wouldn't go mech and then stuka, because you lose fighting ability/field presence when you skip early medics. Only an early puma or AAHT can make up for it.
If I want to go early Puma, my BO is similar to yours except I dont make an AT gun so early.
Then I'd get medics with 2 ISGS. Medics are essential and you cant skip them without MP bleed/loss of map control (most likely your units will be so wounded that a retreat is needed within seconds, which wastes time).
You can supplement Obers with elite infantry. Then I'd either wait for a KT or JT (which is actually easier to get/cheaper and seems to be better against brits). Usually a KT wont do well by itself (TDs can easily kite it) so I'd get a JP4 before or after it.

The JT has always been cheaper to get than a KT. You often dont need T4 if you're not planning to get the luch or panther, since Obers can be supplemented by panzerfusilers.
Now the JT is cheaper than the KT fuel wise outside of teching considerations. This doesnt make any sense; the JT is a much bigger beast than KT irl.
The KT needs some price buff to 230 fuel. It's not used much anymore. The JT also needs to require tech like the KT. It's way too easy to get a JT in comparison.
The range increase seems to be for consistency to bring it in line with the Tiger range increase. The range increases are fine, but the IS2 logically needs a range and damage increase (122mm gun vs 88mm gun) too.

It seems to be useful for T2 to T1 starts as an early vehicle that may counter possible Stuarts/M5/T70s.
T1 to T3 seems like a better start, because you can choose to go Luchs if it's necessary (if they get a T70 or stuart) to maintain field presence, or just save for a P4.

Using it defensively is a waste, you need the vet. It seems it's more of a micro issue of not surviving. The JP4 seems like a good supporting unit, since it's a great TD that can even tackle on heavy tanks.
Or just listen to the half-assed/unoriginal comments of "step 1: just dont get it, it's worthless derp". |
Suppression is fine. The problem is that in firefights against blobs vs your inf supporting the mg42, they can too easily focus fire it down.
I think this particular unit needs its accuracy received penalties removed. I'd also so the same for OKW/USF 4 man HMG squads. It would also be nice to get a minor dps buff, as they barely do any dmg against units that are garrisoned and in cover. |
My main disappointments are:
- All factions are played equally, and if Axis is at 80%, you're just "not on at the right time".
Why do people keep on insisting that the reason why the majority of people play axis has something to do with balance/gameplay (maybe not for OKW atm, but there will always be a skew)? It's inevitable, and it was like this since day 1. It happens in most games. That's because there are far more people who find WWII Germany more interesting contextually & historically (eg. 'cooler' tanks). |
Was just saying the best BO to get those tanks. If you're going T1 -> T3, they aren't worth it over a panther.
They feel more sluggish than an Ostheer P4, but they can climb vet pretty easily. At vet 2, they become more mobile. It's best to use them cautiously as an AI tank and try to maximise veterancy. I'd just keep them in the back, and use volks with shreks as a spearhead.

In 1v1, it's useful if you go T2 first for an early puma/flak to T1 for healing, and skip T3. It would then cost 255 to get a panther compared to 210 for 2x P4s.
The major downside is not accessing any kind of special/elite infantry, unlike other commanders. I'd go 4/5 volks, 1/2 pios, 1 rakten, maybe an infantry support gun too. Getting 2 pios seems mostly suitable for urban/close quarter maps.
The commander should have the CP decreased to 8, have maybe mg34 replace one of the useless abilities (or even reduce the cost of the radio ability) and fuel cost decreased by 10 fuel. |
Hi,
What build orders do you guys start with to counter dual m3 rushes in 1v1/2v2 (around 3:00 minute mark).
I'm guessing this could work:
Volks, Volks, Volks, T2, Volks, Flak, T1
I've also seen T1 starts with Volks, Volks, Volks, T1, mg34, Volks etc.
Would having a kubel wagon work too? It could act as bait and do some minor DPS. It would also need a clear/shot retreat path back to base. Though, I think a kubel could work better against a single m3 opening, but not 2 m3s. |
JPIV can dual the ISU, IS2s and Jacksons quite well. It's a good counter to heavy tanks, however I think it's better to get a panther first (or KT if it's even possible), and a JPIV to support it.
It can take several hits and reverse quickly for repair. Once it reaches vet 2 it becomes really good. |
