This happens to me sometimes too, and I feel the same thing.
It's just so broken, even rank 1000 players doing this are harder than <200 who don't go ISU.
ISU will always wipe PAKs at max range, so that was a waste of 640 mp.
Dunno if 3 P4s or 2 Tigers are better to counter a single ISU. |
Pretty much Albus' s strat except you can just get 4 grens (constantly replace them) and improvise any unit (42, mortar, sniper etc), until dual T3 tanks and tiger ace. Ideally u'd use lmg grens in pairs and hunt/focus fire lone squads at max range.
You need to build T2 incase you face t34/kv spam. P4 can't penetrate kvs unless at point blank range. |
How did you counter snipe and survive so many times? Did you only shoot behind green cover + max range?
By the time there's 3 snipers (in ur situation) u can counter with 1 or 2 T3 tanks. 2 pios + 4 grens + mortar + 222 is enough to pressure the opponent off the field if he tries several soviet snipers early on.
Once they fix the call in system, heavy T3 starts will be better than waiting for tiger spam.

It one shots AT guns all the time, which is the biggest problem. Medium tanks like the P4 will have trouble reliably penetrating it sometimes. It can often 1 shot lone squad if they are clumped, but not all the time.
The unit is performing far better than any equivalent option for the Soviets, I don't get why Soviet fans are so defensive over it. It's not a core unit, if it didn't exist it wouldn't "nerf" the faction. Currently, it's creating a lot of balance problems. You can't counter with PAKs. Flanking with 2 P4s is harder than it sounds against a well supported army.
Yes, OKW has decent counter to the ISU (the jadgepanzer, and less so the jadgetiger). But Ostheer have little. They can't use PAK40s (will get wiped in 1 shot), elefant (there's a reason you don't see these in 1v1s anymore) or Tigers against an army that can use their ZIS AT guns + ISU + guards.
Don't want to bring up playercards but kreatiir has no position to say "L2P/L2A" when he hasn't actually played that much at all and isn't offering advice to OP. And of course, Kaitof will always defend the Soviet faction exclusively. |
Soon: KT appearing significantly before IS2, Tiger, ISU, etc. MVGame
That wont even happen. Players will still get ISUs/IS2s at 20-22 mins.
Skipping tech allows them to be able to get 2 ISUs by 25 mins... Tieing to tech is a start to balancing these units out. |
Against Soviets, you need a 222 (fastest time is 5 minutes) against T1 starts. You can see through the fog of war to see the teching of Soviets.
PGrens are special forces "elite" infantry, they cost a lot of mp reinforcement but in good positioning can kill a lot. I'd get them during mid-late game, after you have lots of T1 units.
Grens are always the main infantry. In most games, it's best to have 4 grens by early-mid game.
And PAK40s are the best AT guns in the game. Always get them, except if you know the enemy is saving up for an ISU and not teching. You can tell by their commander loadouts and if they are stalling. You should always get a quick PAK too against USF, since they tend to rush an AAHT.
You always need to build T2 even if you dont plan on building any units, incase you're forced in a situation where you need PAKs (eg KV1/8 base rush). The build time for PAKs is not long. |
So you're just going to make the P4 and STUGIII have the same fuel cost?
That makes no sense historically, and even Relic acknowledged that the STUGIII cost was roughly 2/3 of P4 (80 vs 125 fuel)....
Armoured skirts on P4 only have 10 more armour than t34? That makes no sense either.
ETC.

Sheldt 2.0 will only release for the grand finale of Relic's Coh 2. This is when Relic stops making "new content" and move on to Coh 3. What better way to end the community than releasing Sheldt 2.0. 99% of games will be Sheldt compstomps . |
If you'd notice, it's not all against the Allies, it's mainly against Soviets and also retweaking Ostheer (which hasn't been touched for ages).
Soviets have had controversial units before WFA. Most threads are complaining about the "cheeseyness" of Maxims, ISU (heavy tanks) and m3 flamers / triple snipers. They are harder to counter than to utilise by your opponent, that's for sure. Although some units maybe need a little toning down, a lot of the complaints and suggestions for nerfing are exaggerated. |
You guys forgot m3flamers. That's probably the worst of them all, since it's such an insult to historical accuracy, realism and logic. It's also easy cheese.
The faction design is good when players make an effort to make conscripts first and then T1/T2 units (ie combined arms). It's just that some units are broken (eg ISU) and there are cheese starting strategies (m3 flamer starts, triple sniper squads and maxim spam, and waiting for heavy tnaks).
They have the lowest learning curve, and that's why people say they are "easymode".
You just have to get used to it, it gives Axis players more challenge.
