Enough conscript squads will wipe any german infantry off the map (that's pro strategy, conspam). it doesn't help that german infantry are easy to kill.
ostheer needs a non negotiable armor buff currently, they're only 4 guys FFS! if a soviet player loses it's a learn 2 play issue, if a german does it's balance! #facts
What I'm worried about is how ostheer infantry will fare against the new US veteran rifleman and the officer units it has, US infantry looks pretty bad ass
Panzer grens are awesome vs SU-85 SPAM especially in team games, as for pgs without shrecks use them close range to kill infantry
And conscripts can only whipe a panzer grenadiers squad if it either has shrecks or the conscript squad has high vet or ppsh-41
This game was a pleasure to watch for the whole hour, i watched it at 2 in the morning and it kept me wide awake from start to end, The vehicular play was awesome, both players had to fight extremely hard to destroy even one of the opposing vehicles
Also props to AMI and IPKAI you guys did an awesome job calling the game
As the game moves forward infantry become a liability to you as they cost mp but do little. One shot wipes are still very high for Ost, and two shot wipes are common for Soviets (which is little better). Watching vet 3 infantry evaporate to most tanks in the late game is stupid. Why did I work so hard to preserve them?
I don't think infantry necessarily becomes a liability late game they just switch roles roles from the main vanguard of your force to a supporting force that should be used in conjunction with the vehicles to control the maps, the game is trying to say don't use anything on their own, u need a balance of vehicles and infantry later in the game, if you watch good players like Barton, twister siberian etc they keep their infantry until the late game and use them to harass territory, steal at guns scout anything, i don't see any of those good players only using vehicles in the late game
unless your going up against ISU-152 then you can forget about infantry completely because the damn thing can one shot a vet 3 squad from across the map
Ii think this game is trying to get you to use combined arms , I used to hate rangers in coh 1 they could do everything and rangers blobs were difficult to counter
The game wants you to utilize everything rather than just infantry so that winning comes down to the right combination of units not just spamming one type
i wonder how exactly will the king tiger do for example VS an IS-2.
In reality both were quite the equal match because the king tigers armor while impressive on paper, was of very poor quality due to Germany losing some very critical reserves of certain materials required to make good armor. Altho king tiger i think still had a slight advantage due to a gun with more penetration. And of course the king tigers much higher rate of fire.
They'll probably be quite comparable but I think they will give the KT more armor but make is slower than the IS, there guns will be similar.
Also what about Volks for OKW, will they fit with OKW since the army is supposed to be elite and Volksgrenadiers from coh 1 were comparable to conscripts or infantry lesser then grenadier.
will they be on par with grens or more like conscripts
Personally, I think it's lame that this unit only has one realistic counter. As others have said: no one is going to leave this thing unsupported. Therefore, any attack on the ISU will involve fucking legions of AT guns, MGs, etc...at this point in the thread, everyone knows that a supported ISU is invincible. Heck, even an unsupported one is basically invincible. Yes, you can use an Elefant, but that's literally the only counter, and it still needs to involve combined arms. I resent any unit in the game that only has one counter. Every problem should have more than one solution. This is like those stupid console games that force you to take the path they want you to take through the game. It also allows the Soviet player to now dictate the flow of battle. Oh, an ISU ? Great. I have to basically cater to that now, with little hope of being able to focus on any other objective.
Everything else seems ok with this patch...well, the scout car thing is still pretty irritating. Ok...goddamn obnoxious. But the ISU needs fixing, or give Ost some other REALISTIC hope of dealing with it. And please...you guys with the "oh, you just need to flank around with infantry while snipers engage the AT guns, and you bring up mortars to smoke them, while luring them onto mines, then drop arty...." ...just don't.
Yeah ISU-152 is a game changer and is almost unbeatable if it is supported by AT guns as it makes it difficult to flank and the howitzer is devastating against infantry, and if something is spotting for it the range and firepower on 1v1 maps becomes overwhelming,
ive posted a game above i played today where the power of the ISU is demonstrated, i did manage to counter 3 ISUs that were supported and win the game but only by the skin of my teeth, for all intensive purposes i probably should have lost
The Pumas in coh 2 are different to those in coh1 these Pumas are good against armor and have good range and penetration they should be used in large numbers and used to flank as they can outmanouver almost any tank, however they have fragile armor so u must shoot and move.
Pumas are good at countering mid game Soviet vehicles such as t-70 or halftracks and can even be effective in the late game if you Microsoft them properly
They are however lacklustre against infantry so if the Soviet player gets guards it may be difficult for Pumas to show their value
