Looking at figures is quite insane. Sturmpios need to be buffed a little vs actual status or make this squad 5 men and give them Mp40s. That would be more sensible, but it's totally stupid that the best assault rifle in WW2 performs worst than M3.
Ok, understand that they want to tone down the Sturmpios, but it was a little to much.
It would be easier to just revert the change so they could be competitive again. Not only did this change devastate the entire utility of the Sturmpioneer, it has practically annihilated the entire Sturmpioneer + Volksgrenadier synergy/dynamic. Where Volksgrenadiers were cheap meat shields taking attention and damage while Sturmpioneers moved into mid/close range to deal damage and flank.
Hell even Soviet Shocktroopers have these values as of June 30th 2014! (This date being the last time they were officially tweaked.)

Surely I'm not the only one who sees that it is 100% WRONG that the Sturmpioneer which is a 320 mp unit cannot reach maximum damage outside of punching distance right?

Near range distance from 8 to 3
Mid range distance from 16 to 15
Far mid distance from 35 to 28
While meanwhile the American Assault Engineer squad reaches its maximum potential at 10!!

I'll repeat STG-44 = 3 range for max damage, and the M3 = 10 range for max damage.
and they get this enormous advantage all for the price of a doctrine and 280mp?!

At this rate Sierra, you won't last long around here either. Milka is a numbers and balance expert. Perhaps it would be better to learn the ins and outs of this forum and it's members before going off the deep end? The kubel was specifically buffed this patch. Give it several tries. As I mentioned in the other thread, there needs to be a lot more games played before any final answers can be given.
I may not be a mathematical genius, but I do recognize the influence that specific changes in numbers can have to the overall flow of gameplay. I can already tell you that the kubelwagen changes while significant won't be enough. The Sturmpioneer changes were damaging to the overall OKW gameplay and will likely result in less people playing as OKW, and OKW as a whole playing less effectively than ever before.
So ask this question, balance is balanced, but balanced for "whom"? |

You defend Sturmpioneers as if you relied on them as your only spammable infantry. Speak less arrogantly, and perhaps you wont be as transparent.
I relied on them as my only RELIABLE close/mid range infantry. Never built more than one extra squad aside from the starting squad.
That's the overall problem though, the Axis as a whole don't have any strong or reliable mid/close range squads to deal with the Allies in mid/close range combat. Fallschirmjaeger are far too frail outside of cover to do that job. Panzergrenadiers are... well have been pathetic for quite some time. Sturmpioneers were doing that job well in spades up until this recent nerf to them.
Jaeger Light Infantry were okay but without grenades never truly shined...
So tell me what exactly should Axis use for mid/close quarters? |
Sierra, I don't know where you came from all of a sudden, but calm down. You are all over multiple threads with strongly worded complaints about sturmpios. Relic has an idea that they are trying to implement in regards to this unit. I don't think you can possibly have played enough games with the new patch to definitively say that it doesn't work as intended.
I honestly am tired of Relic's half baked "ideas" on how units "could" work... what sounds great on paper doesn't always work when applied. Think Communism, sounds great on paper, very very different in reality. |

The more players in the game, the better Axis play, but in 1v1/2v2, Allies usually win. Thats why i offered the alternative.
