If you have actually taken the time to recognise the different commanders from the icons, you are more than welcome to that small advantage, as far as Im concerned.
Thank you for agreeing with me on how it does give one player an unfair advantage over another player. Your opinion that you should get advantages if you buy DLC's are well known and not really the issue in THIS post. |
As it is, you can see what commanders your opponents have chosen as their three picks. This gives a added advantage of those with a mix of bought and free commanders because you can't know if osttroupen or assault greens will be used. If this was hidden, those who have refused to buy any the pay 2 win commanders the same 'unknown' factor which indirectly give the player an advantage.
ps.
Please address the arguments if you dislike the idea.
pps.
Any argument is welcome, as long as it is well put and uses correct logic. |
One of the most shocking part of this is that the thread has ended up on page 5. This pay 2 win thing is a slap in the face to all who have bought the game, to all the fans who have been with the franchise since coh. Its shit shit shit shit. And I hope whoever greedy motherfucker (yes, I did chose carefully what to call that person) ends up alone, broke and on the street. |
Well the thing is Conscripts already have this upgrade available. All the current situation does is forcing people to pick specific Commander every time to get it. Your post and the one you are replying to therefore make no sense unless you are both arguing for taking PPSHs out of the game completely.
You won`t help variability by arguing for status quo because people will just keep going with the same Commanders and PPSHs anyway... On the other hand you can get more variability by making more Commanders viable as I suggest.
First claim: It does not force you to pick a commander, if gives you the option to have ppsh's or something else. And no I dont' want ppsh's out of the game.
Second claim: Argue for status quo, not true. I did make suggestions on changed to conscripts that would make them stronger. |
Stil they are seperate issues. Balance can be fixed eventually. Pay 2 win is a point of no return really since the only way to fix it is to go back on what you have done. Hence giving back the money, and we all know that is not going to happen. Cause if they dont return the money its pretty much stealing (if they revert this decision) |
Balance has never been the issue though. Of course they will balance out the new commanders eventually, as they will with other aspects of the game. It does not negate the fact that if you as a player has more options then your opponent then you have an advantage, hence pay 2 win. |
I've noticed in the pay 2 win debate a lack of understanding. If you can spend real life money to alter your chances of winning by even the slightest margin, then it's a pay 2 win game.
I've heard excuses saying: its paying for variety etc,.. sure you are, but it does not negate the fact that if you have more options then the person you are playing against.
No one is saying that you will win every game or even a majority of the games played. What people, including me, who are upset by the whole thing is that this new pay 2 win model will ultimately destroy the game, people will stop playing, people will not start playing and those who keep playing will have to spend money to keep them on a even keel to other, buying members of the community.

I wouldn't give conscripts a weapons upgrade. I think they are fine in their role as basic infantry. However, they do scale rather poorly so boosting their vet3 bonus would help them out late game. But, if you buff conscripts, penals and shocks will be used even less frequent and be less useful overall. |
Ever since they, whoever they may be; decided to make coh2 pay 2 win I've been debating with myself if I should stick with a game which promotes casual none-competative where spending money give you advantages ingame. I fear that even if I buy these commanders, three months down the line I'll have to buy a few more and so on.
At the start of dota, me and a few other players used to organise pick up games through irc. I know web based version of the same concept have been made before. Why not create something similar for coh2. A webpage or a irc channel for pickup games And league games. Of course there is a lot to figure out. But this way, we can make sure to play lagfree games, games without any sort of pay 2 win commanders, better match making etc. And best of all, us; the community decide what rules to play by.
Any and all suggestions and input is welcome. |
