65 hours last 2 weeks.
I've been playing about 40:30:20:10 US: Ost: OKW: Sov
Won 2 Sov commanders and 2 Ost commanders that I already own through digital collectors edition.
I don't even like soviets because I find their doctrinal dependencies and commanders annoying, plus there are about 50 soviet redundant commanders.
It's getting upsetting.
Also most of my bulletins are for soviet stuff, and the 1 victory strike I got. I DONT PLAY SOVIETS!!! |
That's just how the model is. You can face units and armies you don't own. Otherwise the community would be fragmented, and it's not a huge community as it is.
People will find something to be unhappy with always but actually I think this system is pretty good. more info from Relic on which units do what would be better but that's Relic. They like a bit of mystery in the game. |
There's Stuka zu Fuss also. |
They should have 'commander weekends' where all the commanders are unlocked and you get a higher chance to get a commander drop (Like guaranteed commander after 3-4 hours). This will bump player base back up in quiet periods, it could bring players back to see how the game has improved through patches.
I like the crafting idea, if it's worth the time for Relic to implement it. Maybe they have in mind something else.

This trend is opposite in team games, and even more convincingly so. I'm not trying to make a point, just that it's interesting. Sample size is still too small surely as the meta is evolving. |
I think this way would be best.
You get a chance of drops every x minutes of game time (lets say x = 90).
Then the yield of that drop is calculated from game statistics, points cptured, damage done, faction choice etc.
If you had very active games during the 90 (x) minutes then you get a higher chance of rare drops or multiple common drops. I've sometimes got a triple drop and seen my team mates get them too.
Therefore if you have been AI farming with no points captured or kills, you get no drops or crap drops.
This system rewards then good play and time; and isn't elitist because games are matched evenly so performances in game (points captured, damage done etc.) are not related to skill level, just relative effort level for your skill. (I say elitist for want of a better word). |
So can anyone tell me if you get the commanders from a drop if you have them permanently? Or is there only a window of time that you can use them like in the Alpha.
Noun wrote somewhere that the drops are all permanent, unlike the alpha. |
He did some DoW2 casts also, then signed off for a bit because he got a big job somewhere. |
The game is fun and balanced but too many units are underused which is a pity. Maybe even stats don't need to be changed for the most part, just tech costs and pacing could fix most things.
I don't like to see tanks killing units so easily with the main gun. Tiger, ISU152 and to a lesser extent T34/76 (I know T34/76 needs some AI but 1 shotting full health PGren squads should never happen). This is a similar problem with mines i.e. AoE and bunching.

Didn't they announce the tournament at the same time as giving away 1000 multiplayer keys. So half of the signups are probably people who have no idea how to play CoH2, but figure its a simple game that requires 30apm. It's not the smartest strategy to get a tournament going. Well, iwould say its not the best way to allocate a prizepool. I don't even want to comment, it's such a shame. |
