I would not be opposed to ammo cost increase to 20, though it will be small consolation to the guys on the receiving end.

To correspond with the actual ingame effect their cost would have to be around 40. Oh, but just a small matter. Make them non-doctrinal and remove their 2 minute out-of-combat cooldown, then we can talk "normal" price.

Overall the Kat is still in a better position than prior to July 22 patch - more than double the area of effect of each rocket, and a much better distant damage modifier. And frankly the cooldown increase is quite welcome for all the rocket artillery.

I admit now that Kat has the same reload time as the Stuka - the Stuka should maybe be looked at.

The fact does remain however, that there needs to be a way to punish OKW players who camp out next to VP's with the.. frankly ridiculous T4 flak track.

An AT gun, an Su85, or a Jackson will just melt the hit points of the thing while staying safely out of range. Medium tanks and up can easily slug it out from the front as well. If you prefer ranged warfare - you still have mortars, pack howies (not totally useless since last patch) and an abundance of onmap (Soviets) and offmap (US) artillery. There is also smoke - two riflesquads can alternate smoke on the T4 truck while you cap under its nose.

Why? Just because both Stuka and Katyusha both have powerful barrages it does not in any way, shape or form imply that they are EQUALLY overpowered and what applies to one, should necessarily apply to the other. This is a total non-argument. Please refer to this post of mine for a bit of details.

With cooldown time included, and adding a bit to both sides to get into position and fire, you should actually be comparing somewhere around 24 to 28 of Kat's rockets to 6 Stuka's. Please everyone tell me now if that is ok in your book. (Deliberately not talking about Werfer here).

Kat saturates a large area, Stuka shoots in a precise line. As much as the line thing can be a blessing it depends on the enemy arranging its weapon teams and infantry in a line AND not moving too much once the rockets are fired. Compare with Kat's circle of doom. The AoE on Katyusha rockets is good enough that it damages everything in the area its rockets fall in (no unit in this area can reasonably escape undamaged or with small damage), which makes the effective area of denial a Katyusha can achieve much greater and longer than the Stuka, even if fired at longest range into FoW. Katyusha's 4 wave barrage does make it easier to retreat your infantry without getting the full brunt of it - but for slow or static positions that is a non-issue.

I would like to point out two logical fallacies in this thread, resorting to reductio ad absurdum.

Argument no. 1 : "Katyusha is fine because it discourages blobbing" : really? So discouraging blobbing is enough to make a unit's effectiveness a holy cow above such petty considerations as cost, cooldown, area of effect, etc? Fine. I propose a 10 munitions V1 rocket for the OKW, with 2 second cooldown. It discourages blobbing, which is apparently enough to make it balanced.

I hope you see how this argument becomes ridiculous, real fast. The lesson here is even anti-blobbing units can overperform, and plus, the Katyusha has so many uses now other than an anti-blob measure.

Argument no. 2 : "Lol this is the same as Walking Stuka situation, only with reversed roles". Well, yes. Except that has no bearing on the balance of Katyusha OR Stuka whatsoever. Let's say they increased the Stuka damage to 10000 per rocket, and made each rocket area of effect ten times as it is now, and reduced its cost to 20 fuel, and a thread was made crying OP (rightly).

Then I could say "Well, you complained about the Katyusha so now you have no right to complain about the new Stuka, they BOTH overperform." Would I be right to say that? Or would you want to bash my head in with a brick?

Does, for example, complaining about Obersoldaten somehow disqualify me from defending Riflemen damage, in the same way as expressing my opinion on Stuka apparently makes all my opinions on Katyusha null and void for all eternity? Where is the limit to that?
