When the troops get killed they loose one or more of theyre FG42 and the icon below the troops symbol disappears. When retrooped (even if upgraded with 4 fg42) not all the troops get equipped back with theyre fg42 but standard rifles

This sounds like a pretty serious bug.

I would guess that the default weapon for FJ would be the K98 but that would also mean that FG42 do not transfer when they have only 2.

I have this all the time. But it's just the icon that disappears. The 4 FGs remain.

I've seen this exact bug come up with the FG-42s in some of my own little mods; hearing this now I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's in live as well.

Yup this is true too. I've seen a two model fall squad that was firing 1 fg42 and 1 kar98k. I feel like the FGs dont transfer, but once you get 4 it doesnt matter. Still they should transfer before the upgrade
